staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful
décor needs updating especially the entrance lobby and lounge
excellent friendly staff. very clean. good location and facilities
quality of food was the only dissapointment
The staff were really friendly and helpful. This made our stay very pleasant and will return again.
The size of the room it was more like a closet than a room
The moment I arrived at the entrance things started to go wrong. As I walked towards the door a scruffy person in a white shirt smoking came out of the entrance. As I got to the reception desk on the top was a pack or tobacco. the bell was rung and a man came and correctly said "oh! that does not look very good - I presume that it is not yours. clearly not. I could not see any menu in the room / the room service for a meal stopped at 9.15, (I was going out to see people and would be back about 9.30), and in the morning I did not even stop for Breakfast. At the top of the stairs as I was leaving it smelt of smoke. Sorry; but I do not expect to pay 80 plus for this
We loved everything about it, the staff were extremely friendly, nothing too much trouble, the room was extremely comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious.
Nothing to dislike!
Well appointed and spacious, quiet, comfortable bedrooms. Excellent breakfasts and delicious dinners from the extensive a'la carte evening menu. Warm welcome and efficient friendly staff, under control of the unfailing efforts of manager Chris.
Convenience to race track and city
Bathroom - needed to ask for loo brush to be replaced (disgusting), side hanging off bath, shower head dirty, floor dirty etc. Covered in red dust following bath........If I hadn't have paid £180 per night I may not have been so critical.
Couldnt use facilities before I went to work or have breakfast as everything started at 7.30 had to be in work at eight. I was going to book for 6 months three days aweek as I have a contract in york very dissapojnted.room was like a shoe box.
Tea n Coffee in room,
Good quiet comfortable room. Pleasant helpful staff. Good freshly cooked breakfast Good car parking Swimming Pool a bonus
Steam Room disappointing
Probably the best hotel breakfast I've had in years.
Location Friendly staff
Noisy fan in bathroom 2 rooms infested with ladybirds Breakfast was just okay
Reception was terrific - exceptionally helpful and very amusing. Within easy walk of city centre, practical shops etc nearby. Breakfast menu puts fancier hotels to shame, fantastic choice (hooray - bagels at last), nice service. Plus good ale in bar and an excellent swimming pool. It was not cheap, but York is not generally.
The food, but above all the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff. As and when we visit York again we would not hesitate in using this hotel again.
We have no complaints whatsoever.
Staff were always friendly. The service always good. The room comfortable and clean. The restaurant service excellent. Breakfast great.
I booked the restaurant for dinner. The food was disappointing with very large portions.
staff and leisure facilities were excellent
Courteous and welcoming staff. Hot food and plenty of it. Good swimming pool. Easy walk to town centre. Security camera in car park
Clean. Very friendly and helpful staff with good local knowledge.Good food with ample portions (even the toast was good, made from home made bread). Generous beverage supplies, with top ups easily and freely available.Shower worked well. Welcome was friendly with an explanation of the facilities and unsolicited help with luggage. Inviting swimming pool and good car park.
Nothing really.Perhaps the decor wouldn't have pleased The Hotel Inspector, but that didn't matter to me. I was happy to undertake the 20 min walk to the city centre, but others mightn't be. However, there seemed to be a good bus service.
Considering that we book near enough last minute, we were glad of getting a room here. As it had its own car park in the back out of the way, it was easy enough to get in and out without too much bother from traffic. It was within good walking distance to the races and to the pubs. Breakfast was good, couldn't do enough for you and the selection was enough to keep anyone happy. Great way to sober up on the morning especially the walk in the centre.
The shower was a little out dated, which I wouldn't of minded but the hot/cold tap was damaged and didn't work properly. Other then that everything else was good.
Limited breakfast choice if you didn't want a cooked breakfast.
Really friendly staff
the food and clenliness and staff where magic
The staff were all fantastic - nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was superb - and you could easily pay far more for evening meals of the quality served here!
Nothing - it was a great hotel.
