When booking, the room option with breakfast was approx. £25 more than without, but when at the hotel the breakfast only cost £8.95. Fortunately I hadn't booked with breakfast!

We there as part of a family party being held in the function room. The staff were very friendly, from the onset at reception, to the barstaff in both the sports bar and the more relaxed family bar. The hotel has some really tasteful design aspects and is suitable for all ages. Our room was very tastefully designed but very compact. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The breaskfast, which was included in our room price offered a range of both full cooked breakfast to fresh fruit which was of good quality and the morning staff were more than happy to get what we wanted. Overall a very comfortable stay. The only one big draw back of our stay was the size of our room. Even though it was very compact and had all the facilities of any other hotel room of this standard, the bathroom was ridicualously small. And once our luggage was in the room, it was very cluttered and imposing.

The room was nice just a little small. I would have been disappointed if I had booked a standard room as these were small and not nicely decorated for the price the executive suite is well worth it. The food was good with a limited menu. The majority of guests at dinner were on the groupon offer which seemed good value and a good menu to choose from. Breakfast was good buffet style full english and fruit etc. There is only one place to eat so lunch, dinner and breakfast in the same room. On the kings hotel website they advertise food is available in the sports bar however it is an unmanned bar where u simply carry your drinks or food from the restaurant.

I stayed at the hotel 2 nights for a family wedding. I was very impressed by the food and service at the wedding breakfast... considering they were catering for over one hundred people they did extremely well and brought out hot meals that were delicious. The floor boards are very creaky in this old hotel which means that you hear other guests moving around. The rooms are small and without air conditioning or double glazing. I'd definitely check if there is a wedding going on as it cannot be fun for other guests when there is.

Nicely refurbished hotel. Nice and large room even if it was under the roof and can certainely be very hot in case of hot weather. Cleanliness of room and bathroom. Very easy access to many places I had booked a twin room. When I arrived, I was told :"there is no twin room at present", I insisted to get what I had booked. They gave me a twin.

Location - Did not consider the executive room costing £125 room and breakfast worth the money - bed small/bathroom cramped/lighting in both rooms inadequate .-disappointing choice of breakfast - although continental or full english on offer, there was no provision for kippers or haddock usually offered in a hotel of this standard. Hot food was lukewarm and the scrambled eggs watery (no other type of eggs on offer). - Reception staff helpful but unfriendly. - We asked reception to organise a taxi to take us to a wedding reception 2.9 miles away for which they used a firm in High Wycombe who charged us £18 each way because we had to pay for the car to come 13.5 miles to pick us up.

The hotel had good facilities and was impressive on arrival. The size of the room was far too small and was very stuffy during the night, we had to open a window despite it being December! This meant we didn't have a great night's sleep.

The Kings Hotel has a nice pub. The hotel was looking a bit tired on the rooms. The wall paper was damaged and you could see some water damage on the ceiling. Sound insulation is terrible so if someone speaks on the corridor you can hear everything whilst you are in the room, which is not ideal if this happens in the middle of the night.
