Idylically situated in the south-west corner of Lincolnshire, Britain's oldest inn, The Angel and Royal Hotel, is an historic hotel that's said to have hosted 7 kings over 600 hundred years.
Score from 154 reviews Very good

Score from 332 reviews Good
Just off the A1 and less than 2 miles (3.2 km) from Grantham Railway Station and the town centre, the hotel offers great value, with free parking and spacious, comfortable and modern rooms.
Score from 243 reviews Fabulous
Set in a Victorian country mansion, Stoke Rochford Hall Hotel features a modern fitness centre. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the magnificent building offers accommodation with wonderful views....
Score from 343 reviews Good
didn't eat there but menu was very limited, messy carpark, room was very old and drab, rotting window in bathroom covered with wonky double glazing, local school pupils mums using the carpark as their turning and pickup point an glad my car was well out of the way, £65 without breakfast was pricey for a drab room
Staff very friendly and helpful. Under new ownership and we wish them well,
Helpful staff, very welcoming, lovely food too.
Shower was very very weak, and constantly goes cold.
Location convenience: It was a short walk into town.
Very outdated decor, fixtures and furniture. No water pressure for the shower. Breakfast service and content was poor for the money.
Location good but in th middle of a renovation
No aware being renovated and very dissappointed no offer of evening meal etc.Sunday breakfast excellent. Did allow discount -appreciated.
This would be a fantastic hotel. If they where to modernise the rooms ours was very very dated with an old squeaky bed.
SLEEP CLEANLINESS FACILITYS
So handy from motorway plenty parking
I like breakfast included in price not an extra great check in and out service
The staff and the room
good location for visiting grantham good parking facilities
very poor sleep due to loud room noises not the cleanest of showers
Decoration and decor in need of a complete improvement.
2 minute walk in to town centre. Friendly reception staff. Clean big room.
Old carpets and old fashioned room/ bathroom, needs updating. Didn't see any other staff and rest of hotel seemed closed off, lights off.. More like a B&B than Hotel. So thought price was to much as nicer B&B 's for same price .
Clean, convenient, served my purposes well.
The staff were very helpful but sparse in number. The price was low. This hotel will shortly be taken over by an enterprising chap who runs an excellent wine bar in the town - I'm sure it will be much better next time we visit.
The place is run down and shabby. The bar area hadn't been cleaned since a recent function. There was no restaurant open on a Sunday.
Looks like faulty towers. No tv in the room
The staff had just taken over the hotel and are going to make it one of the best venues in town. We enjoyed our stay and will be booking in later on in the year as a stop over to travelling North.
There was nothing that we did not like. The staff are working hard to put any problems or faults right and we wish them every success.
Our reservation was lost and the room we were given was very dusty. Our son has eczema which is aggravated by dust so he had a restless night. The remote for the tv didn't go with the TV so didn't work. At the base of the toilet it had clearly leaked for a long time and it looked rusty. There were bits of plastic littering the bathroom floor. The owners had only taken over that day so I assume improvements will be made.
Not a lot.
Shabby, run down building and rooms. Stayed 2 nights, bed not made but bin had been emptied,TV with no remote, strange random collection of 3 tea bags not replenished, rubbish shower, no toiletries........not worth the money, won't stay again unless desperate.
When I booked I asked for a quiet room. The room was right next to a main road that didn't sleep. There was no hot water for 24hours after my arrival. I complained about the above plus a few things that I will admit couldn't be help. I was fobbed off.
MENU VERY POOR
Ease of booking through booking.com - booked at 8pm, in by 9pm. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good sized, well equipped pleasant rooms. Close to town centre.
Restaurant closed at 9pm. Shower not very powerful but adequate.
Room was clean. Staff seemed friendly enough.
The mattress was old and I had springs sticking in me. The shower was terrible. No water pressure at all. TV was small and ancient. Breakfast was late two out of three mornings so we could not wait to have it.
Staff/ Food / Friendliness
Rooms need some refurbishment
Main bar closed at 9pm
This hotel is in an under-maintained building and, as a consequence, it is not a value for money experience. Avoid it at all costs.
