Excellent location walking distance to town centre that has lots of good old pubs with good value food The hotel was freakishly warm even with the window open, but on the other hand some people like that

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Downstairs the hotel was very nicely decorated. The bedrooms were very much stuck in a time warp and it felt like being back in the 80's. The outside is also in need of some TLC

cheap No towells. No pillow cases. Low water pressure. Reception was not manned on one occasion I got fed up of waiting and went round the other side of the counter and got my key myself. Worrying from a security point of view. No bath (only a shower) this was not made clear when booking.

Friendly helpful staff. Spacious room, good bed, bath in en suite. Comfortable bar and coffee lounge. Convenient location. Good parking area. Service in restaurant could be slow (30mins+ to deliver coffee). Not a very enticing menu. No wifi in rooms. Décor looked tired.

We arrived at the kings hotel to a very nice welcome, the lady that served us when we arrived was extremely helpful as we were early and she was kind enough to allow us to check in earlier than initially arranged due to the wedding we were attending. The hotel was very welcoming and so were the staff and also there was a taxi avaialble to take us to the wedding arranged by the hotel and this was very useful for us and helpful for the staff to help arrange for us. nothing

Instead of a poky closet, my single room (# 8) was very spacious and the bathroom ditto. Having the option of an available bath and separate shower ought to have been nice if they had both worked. This hotel is in a 1970s time warp and badly needs an update. The light above the mirror did not work and the shower only provided cold water. The window could only be kept open by jamming a teacup underneath. The decor was shabby and the steps down into the bathroom are a potential health hazard. The food at dinner was served within five minutes but there was a long wait for coffee afterwards and it was lukewarm when it finally arrived.

The only thing I can actually recommend were the excellent sausages at breakfast. The room had no heating on (although a convector heater was supplied on request). essentially the room was extemely dated and with the exception of the bedding not particularly clean.

Loved how close it was to everything we wanted to do in town. Our bedroom looked really nice. However as soon as I sat on the bed I realized quickly it was a fold out bed with that uncomfortable metal bar in the center. Our bathroom shower wall thing was broken and we had a hard time to get it over the tub.

Staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too hard for them. I couldn't applaud them enough Shower head had been replaced and wouldn't fit into the holder so you couldn't shower properly ( room 22)

We travelled to Grantham from Manchester to visit two family members who were seriously ill in hospital. The staff were helpful and courteous and the accommodation suited our needs, which was simply a place to stay. The first night we slept on a bed which had a broken mattress. The following morning when we complained to the Manager, he appeared very defensive, saying how the mattress was new! He did not immediately check the mattress. After realising it was broken he agreed to move us to another room. We believe the matter could have been handled better. The lighting in the restaurant is very poor which we pointed out to staff. The hotel requires certain modernisation in bedrooms I.e showers over bath are not elderly helpful. The ambience requires uplifting eg: the large printed Hotel sign and branding in the function room/ residents restaurant is totally out of place. Bar staff require training as on the first night we requested an Irish coffee and no one was able to make it.

Your very firendly service and reception staff who bent over backwards to facilitate 'cheese and biscuite' course with two double whiskies in our room on return from our night out. Brilliant. It didn't dawn on me until I was recollecting my enjoyable evening meal the following day that there was no bacon with my liver and bacon main course. Had a nice resher of bacon for breakfast though!!!

Tea and coffee making facilities in the room The poor quality of the room, the bathroom was very dirty hair all around the floor the toilet had been used and not cleaned the bath had a dirty footprint in it, and the room offered was not the one offered on the website. All in all very disappointing went home after one night having booked for three.
