Score from 147 reviews Superb
it looks like the hotel was about to close - no breakfast available
Staying. This is not a Best Western. It smells of sewer and the 'host' was worse than the welcome David Cameron would receive at the Labour patrty conference. The worst hotel I've ever stayed in, including the night I spent in Charles Cross police station in Plymouth.
Room was clean and good size. beds very comfortable bedding and towels clean and comfortable.
Staff rude and unfriendly. Took all my money for stay on first day from card i used for booking when i wanted to pay with other card or cash ive never had this and stayed in lots hotels. Reception unwelcoming and smelt and no facilities ie bar available.
The hotel was closed up (its up for sale) and in darkness, we has to knock on the door to be let in. There are no facilities, room only. It was creapy and I did not feel safe being there on my own. I should have been told all this when I booked but the site makes this look like an up and running hotel, its not.
Nothing. This should not be on your website. In fact it is false information.
This was a terrible hotel. The information on the website is false it is not a functioning hotel in fact I want my money back. I was travelling with elderly people none of the pictures are remotely accurate. I am taking this further as it does not adhere to any standards that should apply.
I'm afraid the building is very tired and I was somewhat surprised to receive the news that they no longer provide breakfast. I see the hotel is for sale!
Bedroom fine. Size of room.
Needed updating. Noise from road. Dirty shower curtain.
First of all it is not a best western dissapointed when I booked the room it was advertised as best western it was very run down the receptanist told me it was closing down saturday and it has not been a best western hotel for three months to me this is false advertising could you please reply to me as soon as possible thanks
Location was very good for what we needed - a cycle event starting at the racecourse Room was better than the lobby suggested it would be and a good size Accommodating over cycles in the room
Odd smell as you came in - looked tired and shabby in the lobby. You could see why it was up for sale. Breakfast not available as an option
Not bad value for money
Very dated hotel.
The hotel was very tired and needed some tlc. The rooms and bathrooms were good sizes but very dated and tired.
location for a local event
outdated décor, old smelling carpets/furniture etc. No love or money spent in a long time inside. No air-con or fans in the room I used during a very hot period.
Location, price, room was clean
Room was hot. Single glazed so lots of street noise (both people and traffic) throughout the night. Also poor sound insulation between rooms so was awoken at 5am by guest in room above walking around and having a shower. I had reserved a parking space but none was available when I checked in so I had to park in nearby public car park.
Convenient location. Cheap parking.
Staff were disinterested and un friendly. Not actually a best western hotel so couldn't use my best western rewards card (even though I was still being asked to sign best western stationary). Stayed for 2 nights - after returning on the second day, not even my dirty coffee cup had been removed from my room. Nasty smell in reception area. No breakfast available.
You should have made it clear that the hotel was closing down
Room large, facilities in room good, especially ceiling fan and largish TV. Great Aqualisa shower in bath. Very comfortable bed and perfect duvet and linen.
NOT a Best Western Hotel. Booking.com should change their web site information. No breakfast available at all. Go out or get none, even at a supplement. Public areas dingy and dark. Wi-Fi unobtainable in room.
Right next to the train station and cabs. Nice room, ceiling fan and en suite. Friendly staff. Bonus of free unlimited wifi.
Run down reception area, in need of some TLC, no dining/food facilities
The hotel is located nearby the street and my room was facing toward the street. When the cars passed the hotel, I can feel the floor shaking. In addition, they don't serve breakfast anymore.
Clean, with comfortable bed. Close to amenities.
You have to pay for parking-£5 per day. In the wardrobe were some pillows with used pillowcases.
Unlimited access Opposite the railway station Easy access to local park & town
No hotel toilet in public area
Staff excellent put sad to hear about the the closure of the hotel
Property now closed due to recent opening of a premier inn just two miles away.
centre of town railway station 100 yards, close to nice bars restaraunts ,comfy bed plenty of coffee , milks etc , nice person on reception
the hotel was up for sale , the bar wasnt open and the place looked ready to close , and a shadow probably of its former self
near to everything you could require.
Staff were rude, the room was dirty, sheets had rips in them, bathroom was something you'd only find in an hospital and was filthy! It may be for sale but come on! Upon walking in all you can smell is sewage! I would have left but the only other hotel was fully booked! Oh and they called the day before to say they no longer do breakfast. Photos are nothing like the room that is for sure. I even invite to of my friends in to see the room and they couldn't believe I was charged £65
As we arrived by train the Hotel was opposite the Railway Station and in the centre of Newton Abbot.
Hotel is very run down and has been put up for sale.proprietors do not seem to be interested. The bar is closed and there is no catering for any meals.
Always liked this hotel - good breakfast, excellent situation, lively and clean bar
Hotel up for sale - due to close in a few weeks - no dining room, breakfast available, bar closed. No-one on desk. Should have been a lot cheaper!!!
