Score from 72 reviews Very good 8.3/10
Very charming and luxurious, and the staff were very attentive.
The decor was opulent but could be updated, the carpets were amusing!
The cleanliness at a hotel which is reasonably priced. Good parking facility and comfortable bed. Thank you.
the reception and checking in procedure. The bar man at night was very courteous.- being addressed as "Sir" certainly does it for me. Well done! The duty manager at breakfast was very warm and friendly, and promoted the Sunday lunch without being pushy! and took photos of us in front of the murals. I very much like the refurb of the Frith room. .
there were particles of dust or fluff on the bed linen. I was not impressed with the plastic beakers in the bathroom. I would have prefered glass although this might be safety issue. outside the room we stayed - (room 101) was a small gathering of staff on a smoking break. This could be an issue when the windows are open, letting the smell of cigarette smoke into the room.
We asked for a quiet room and we were given one at the rear of the hotel away from the road.
Hotel is run down in places but improvements are being done. Breakfast buffet service is limited and uninspiring. The attitude of the Receptionist who dealt with the check out was indifferent.
Atmosphere; Staff attitude; Location and general level of order.
1. Make doors quieter my friend reported that she was woken a number of times early morning with doors being slammed. Perhaps foam or anti slam device? 2. Leisure area small pool and gym.
The whole hotel including staff were excellent. All the facilities were ideal and would stay again for sure
Fire alarm going off twice in morning!
Room was like a sauna and tired looking
It had a bar (there were no other facilities to comment on)
The rooms were extremely hot and there was no air conditioning. Sleeping was an uncomfortable experience. On arrival, we found that one of the beds had suspiciously short and curly hairs on it.
Being told our room was above the noisy function room when we arrived and we had no choice as there were no other rooms available.
Rather noisy as event was on
I get reward points
The bar prices are a little expensive, £3.50 for a pint of lime and soda is a extortionate. Only one real vegetarian option on the menu if you discount a basic pizza. Try not to get room 403, the spot light shines up the whole room.
clean room and bathroom
One particular member of staff very helpful.
One particular member of staff a bit harrassed. A young woman being left to lug her huge cases to a cab, because the staff hadn't noticed ( so I helped). The local taxi service being a bit rubbish at a) turning up on time or indeed at all and b) only knowing where anything is by using Sat Nav (not the hotel's fault, but I think they should use another firm). Plus, they had the builders in. Oh and a tray being left outside someones room all night and most of the next morning,
Hotel staff very friendly, plenty of parking space, clean comfortable rooms, great shower and comfortable bed. Nothing to dislike. Breakfast very good great choice.
Nothing to dislike
No garden or nice grounds to walk in. Sunday carvery lunch not that wonderful.
Not a lot - the hotel's "saving grace" was the location, and room was comfortable....nothing else was "sparkling"
Tables outside & in bar area left for several hours full of dirty glasses & crockery. Only when I commented rather loudly (when at the bar for a drink at 6pm) did the girl on reception start to clear the "pots" Phoned on two occasions prior to visit to see if we needed to book table for dinner as we had guests joining us from 1.5hr journey away. Told "no", but found out on check-in that there was no restaurant menu available....why were we not informed. Hotel lost out on what we would have spent - instead went to Carluccios and had a fab meal. As for breakfast - £8 for cereal, some dried up 'dried fruit' and dry looking fresh pineapple, melon and orange with rind left on, toast & tea (couldn't even afford 2 tea bags for 2 persons!) And a soggy croissant that had to be ordered. Shame on you..... Not value for money - we stay in a 5* hotel, renowned for its location, dining, ambience, staff and comfort for about £20 more than we spent at the hotel which includes dinner bed & breakfast. (This is in the North west - obviously we know what value is in our part of the world) You really are "having a laugh"...... Shocking!
Restaurant and lounge tables sticky, not cleaned after use. Dirty drink glasses. Cigarette butts throughout the property, outside. Grounds unkempt. Hedges not trimmed. Weeds not removed. Generally untidy looking.
Rooms were comfortable
Restaurant was closed for re-furbishment - this should have been made clear on their website
I actually really liked the location since it was within walking distance of the offices I was working at. The staff was very nice and helpful and the room was very clean and hospitable.
No complaints about anything...
The staff were very helpful with special requests. There was adequate parking. Nice bathroom.
The room was hot and a bit noisy. The prices for breakfast and rooms was high compared to B&B's.
Hotel is easy to get to from Gatwick.
Room was clean and nice. Hair dryer was good - more powerful than hotel ones usually are.
Breakfast wasn't included. The hotel lacked outside space without a garden. The seats on the edge of the car park don't amount to a terrace. The communal areas aren't great. Fine for our overnight stay but wouldn't want to stay here long!
Old fashioned decor breakfast way too expensive
Service friendly and cheerful
Dining room looks out over filling station forecourt. Food not very good. Mattress too soft; not enough support
