The room was amazing (four poster bed was very comfy) and had gorgeous views. The staff were very friendly in helping us know where to go for something to do. Very clean room and gorgeous hotel in general, inside. The bathroom had tiled steps coming down from the bath which I felt down, right next to the 'slippy floor caution' sign, which made me laugh. The restaurant food was lovely but expensive for what it was, and there was nothing to do in the local area (but that was ok for us as we just wanted to get away and had a car so went to Keswick!)

The staff were excellent, friendly, effeicient and helpfull. We travelled as a family of four and the room we were given was perfect and was comfortable and had plenty of room. It faced directly on to the gardens which was useful for the kids. The location of the hotel was close to plenty of activities for the kids such as a castle, steam railway and aquarium. Service at breakfast on the last day was alittle chaotic but having said that it was busy.

Not a great deal Very poor room, damp, cramped and no view due to frosted glass windows. Breakfast very poor, meager portions and badly cooked. Also disappointing number of things like no coke at the bar, unable to make cappoccino or waffles due to breakdowns. Overall very disapointing particullly since we had stayed here 18 months ago and could only describe it as excellent at that time.

Peaceful location, near to Arthur Wainswright's fell walks (transport is required if you want to explore the country side etc). Hotel staff very helpful and friendly, room comfortable and clean. Room serviced daily. Varied choice at breakfast. Hotel is old dates back to around 1837 so a little shabby chic in places but there was lots of evidence of staff upkeeping the place and happy going about it too so well done to them.

The hotel is situated in a beautifal building and in a nice area I was really disappointed with my stay at the Ennerdale Hotel we arrived early evening after a long days travelling and were unable to have a shower as the water was cold. We had to meet clients feeling dirty and unclean. The breakfast the next morning was abysmal, we came to breakfast at 0840am and the english breakfast had been abandoned by the staff. The fried eggs were rubbery hard and inedible, the bacon had been on the bain marie for so long it was uncutable with the knife supplied. The mushrooms looked about three years old they were so wizened. The next morning after my shower one had to take a life threatening chance to use the slippy bathroom floor although there was a noticewarning about the slippy floor. There are non slip tiles available- The staff were pleasant but obviously more direction is needed for the staff I would not recomend this hotel to anybody

The room & bathroom was clean and the staff friendly as ever. I intend to stay again in the future. I have stayed several times at the ennerdale, room 5 was probably the most dissapointing of my stays, due to the noise of the saniflo pump in the toilet, I also thought the decor showing holes in the wall was poor.

Stayed overnight in middle of house move - was able to relax in comfort in a luxurious atmosphere. I have difficulty walking and my room was at the end of a very long corridor (for me) If I had known beforehand I would have requested somewhere less distant.

The staff and the food were very good. It is a lovely building but needs some attention in regards to the decor. Some of the plumbing in the bathroom was noisy (including during the night) and needs looking at. A quite location but handy for the various attractions.

We stayed in a very large room with a very nice design and large bathroom for only £80. Breakfast was fantastic and very good selection and had the choice to choose whatever we wish to eat. Overall really enjoyed it and will recommend it highly. The only problem was that there was not any light (or was not working)in the Car Park area which made it very difficult to park and walk back to the hotel and a large Pothole near to the hotel entrance

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable The hotel looked very tired from the outside, , except we didnt get much sleep due to the very uncomfortable beds, also we could hear the people above us who were very loud! Footsteps, snoring , doors slaming early in the morning! The cooked breakfasts were varied too, no fried bread on the second morning and very greasy fried eggs also the black pudding was very dry. Also the shower didnt look very clean as there was black mould around the switch which was very unhygenic

It's near to family Since Kelly went and Christine and steve are on different shifts the atmosphere and friendliness of the hotel has gone down on our last visit we had to go into reception every time we wanted a drink from the bar as there was no one behind it and after ordering meals for 6 of us only 5 turned up so had to wait for another to be done which ment everyone had finished by the time my meal came

Helpful staff, the character of the building and its location within an area of natural beauty. The food was also excellent. Navigating the route from reception to our room. Directions weren't particularly well signed and there's lots of stairs to some rooms. This probably goes hand in hand with it being a very old (and interesting)building.
