The indoor decorations and furnishings were very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. We enjoyed the holiday.
There was no resident's lounge. The bedroom windows were difficult to open.
Stayed at the ennerdale at the end of a week long road trip visiting family in northern England. The hotel was excellent staff very helpful and friendly lovely breakfast gorgeous grounds nothing bad to say about this hotel highly recommended
seeing an old building last seen 50 years ago, restored and brought back into life
Good staff. Lovely restaurants and breakfast rooms Great gardens
Rooms could do with double glazing Outside of building is tatty.
Beautiful grounds and gardens
The grounds of the hotel were beautiful, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Hotel needs some refurbishment, e.g new windows and the side of the hotel at rear needs money spending on it-the roofless room especially!
The staff was excellent, helpful, warm and accommodating. The value for money is excellent, the scenery is great, the breakfast was fine (could do a bit more) and room service was good as well. Plenty of parking. About 2 hours drive from the Lakeside. Recommend for short stays.
Cleanliness was a bit short of expectation. Hair in shower cubicle and spiders clinging all over in the bathroom and bedroom. This is something they need to look at seriously, rest, its a reasonably good hotel.
Very friendly staff
Could do with updating in places
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They were very helpful in offering menu alternatives for my son and nothing was too much trouble. The grounds of the hotel are just beautiful! Room was a lovely size and the view was looking out onto the gardens. I would highly recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family.
Peaceful grounds good food polite staff. A time to chill out. Thank you.
Myself and my family really enjoyed our stay. The staff made us feel very welcome, the room was excellent and the food was delicious. Highly recommended. Regarding things to do, you will certainly get more out of your stay if you get the weather, that is something that cannot be guaranteed though.
Room was musty and poorly ventilated. Furniture was basic nursing home standard Carpets were old and dirty Facilities were basic Restaurant service was abysmal Had to search out staff for service Desert pastry was raw and inedible Bar service was none existence Food generally was of poor 'Bernie Inn' standard where quantity was priority over quality.
The staff are helpful and efficient.
The bar could be improved for comfort.
Loved it., would stay again.. Breakfast was great too.. Powerful shower and soft clean beds. Pleasant staff happy customer thanks
Room was too hot.. But that can't be helped really.
The gardens were beautiful, the food was lovely. The staff are very polite and friendly.
Our visit was initially to visit the lakes so it was far but was great as we were close to the beach.
Lovely location. Mostly polite staff. En-suite very nice
The choice on the menu was a little old-fashioned. Trouser press didn't work. Spiders' webs on internal windows. Noise between rooms wasn't soundproofed. Hotel telephone was constantly allowed to ring and ring.
The staff were friendly location was ideal for us grounds were immaculate breakfast was fantastic
felt some of the staff were overworked, especially at breakfast time some of the bedrooms are definitely in need of painting and decorating didn't like the extreme hot water in the rooms
The food was well served the staff while friendly were not intrusive and they were vere helpful The accommodation was clean well furnished and although our room was over the front door it was quiet . Over all a very pleasant stay and will certainly reuse
The location was good for us it was near to the location we were visiting
We arrived late at 11.45pm due to road works at the A1 and the front door was locked, there was a number to call but this was not answered, ourselves and another guest that had returned from the local pub were let in an hour later at 12.45, this was just by chance as another guest came downstairs to walk their dog. We had to find the log book at reception to see what room we were booked in to and then find the keys to that room. Despite leaving a note at reception advising of what had happened nobody sought us out the next morning to provide an explanation. We have stayed here before and would again but would have to be certain we were going to arrive early.
The location is excellent for getting into the fells The staff were all very friendly and helpful
The room was in need of a makeover, it felt outdated
Very friendly staff. Pleasant atmosphere. Excellent breakfast- seemed cooked to order. Would stay again as it suited our purpose and was a country hotel with character, a change from stereotype chain of hotels.
Our room overlooked a fire escape, but this really didn't matter as out in the evening and it was a 1 night stay.
Location, ambiance, excellent choice of quality food.
1 The exterior appearance from the car park, shabby and unkempt. 2 My compact bedroom. Of the 2 rooms booked mine did not have a chair/settee or the extra storage space.
We arrived late at night and the staff were very accommodating arranging us some food in the resturant.
We enjoyed our two night stay. The restaurant meals were very nice. We enjoyed exploring the area around Lake Buttermere.
It would have been nice to stay closer to the main attractions in the Lake District at Grasmere, etc. That said, the park was very crowded with summer travelers and we appreciated the relative quiet of the hotel.
Beautiful garden good food
