Score from 108 reviews Very good
The staff were great, always there when you needed something, very friendly and professional. The food was excellent, good quality ingredients and interesting dishes. We felt welcome and that the staff enjoyed working at the hotel, which gave a very happy atmosphere.
The location is great for the city facilities.
There was no in room menu in the room or breakfast door label
Good location, Excellent staff, receptionist was very good at check in and check out. I do work for a hotel as well. We enjoyed our stay.
It was short stay nothing went wrong.
the scotch at the bar
the bed. pathetic
Lovely bathroom with detachable shower. TV and coffee in room.Windows which open.
Far too hot and couldn 't work out how to turn radiators down/off. Staff did not come when I asked for assistance.
The location and staff.
Food is pretty poor for a hotel - even one as rundown as this one. Fish in batter tasted like cardboard freezer food. Mint tea came with milk? Breakfast fruit option was unbelievably bad. Worst I've seen in a while.
£5.00 overnight parking fee. The car park is not secure not covered by CCTV was told the night manager checks the vehicles!!!!!!!
Staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble for them re booking taxis.
Some areas of the hotel need updating.
the view of the solent
Everything else. We paid £100/night no breakfast. Our first room was ridiculously small the second a little larger. First night, TV did not work. Furnishings are in poor state, mattress terrible. Free wifi - except it didn't work for our 3 day stay. Breakfast at £10 pp was about as basic as you can get. Will never go back
Friday night was party night so even in our second floor room we could hear the noise until the party finished at 12.30am.
Tired decoration No wifi in room Variable shower pressure depending on room (based on 4 stays in one month
I do feel a breakfast should be inc.Booking .com does seem to give the impression that it is when reading the blurb."A little miss leading. When I feel I have to read masses of detail I hesitate to use that web, site again.no disrespect but secret escapes has it spot on.
Everything. It's an old place - no mod cons but lovely.
Nothing. Been 6 times do know what to expect.
Had a huge room with a comfy bed
Check out was at 11am (which is good) but housekeeping were knocking on the door at 9.30am to clean the room. Not very happy to say the least.
Conveniently located Good views V comfortable
The hotel is wonderful the staff were excellent the break fast was very nice plenty of it .
The bedrooms were very basic
Evening meal and breakfast excellent Staff very helpful and polite
Twin Room was narrow and difficult for disabled person to get around.
Lunch in the restaurant was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The decor was very dated. I really did not like the brown curtains and brown blankets on the beds.
The entrance to the hotel looked good. The family room comprised two adjoining rooms, which was good. Very good chips.
Family room directly above extremely noisy disco that went on until after 1230pm (very poor with a two year old). Staff did not engage. Bed was saggy and smelled. Wifi didn't work - excuse given: "it's free". Alternative room had broken window that was low down - not child friendly, and wifi didn't work.
Dirty linen was invisible to staff at breakfasts
We could all stay in the same hotel. Booking was easy and the location was perfect.
There was a weird smell of antiseptic on the landing.
Really stylish hotel - great ambience
Fine location, with bus stops right outside for those without transport and only minutes away from all attractions. Fine outlook over Southsea Common and the sea beyond. Excellent breakfasts and other dining facilities
the view from our room
lack of tv details - not knowing which channel was which
