We found the hotel comfortable and a very good position for shops and touring. The downside was we were very unhappy to find we were on the top floor with four flights of stairs & the top stairway was very steep and there is no lift We are in our late 70s and carrying our cases to our rooms was exhausting. There is no mention of this situation when booking rooms See above

Very nice area of Bristol - Clifton village - so get ready to walk 10-15 min. Room was nice and cosy, well maintained breakfast was good (buffet) staff was friendly Finding ourselves in basement was a bit disappointing, not too much sunshine or light coming into room. I thought it might be because we got the room as special offer via booking.com

Convenience for a wedding. Receptionist excellent. Good value. Not possible to completely close bifold door to bathroom from the inside as the handle had come off. The one who wasn't in there could close it from the outside! Room was rather small for two people to move around one another. Steep stairs down from reception to our accommodation. Not disabled friendly - not that we are but it would be a problem for people who find stairs difficult. In spite of this we felt it was useful practical accommodation for one night exactly where we wanted to be at an appropriate price.

Excellent location. Across from a lovely park and short stroll to Clifton village, convenience store just up the street. Bus at the door and on the Hop on hop off bus route. Liked the fact that they kept the decor as close to original while still providing modern amenities. The building are older but this is part of the charm. Breakfast was good and plentiful although the bacon was extremely salty. Lovely decor in the bright breakfast room. The twin room was clean and comfortable, modern shower and lovely duvets, comfortable beds. Staff at reception were pleasant and helpful. No lifts but I had asked for a quiet room for my elderly mother and had a main floor room in the 2nd building so few stairs to deal with and no trouble with noise. We had a split stay and were given the same room the second half without asking which was a nice surprise. Would suggest extending breakfast hours. . Fine if you are working but if on holiday would have been nice to have it until 10 am...and a hostess to seat people. Very busy one morning and while waiting for tables to be cleaned another couple strolled in and sat down ahead of those waiting. A hostess would have prevented this as it seems each waitress was trying to work the kitchen, clean tables and serve coffee upon arrival and there was no method to serving people as they arrived. Would make more sense to have a hostess seat you and take names as you arrived and maybe serve the coffee to allow other waitresses to have time to clear the tables.

Great location, friendly staff, nicely restored building, good breakfast, good room allocation (we asked for a quiet room). We would definitely use this hotel again. The airlock in the radiator in our room!!!!! We had to listen to the noise for most of the night. The staff did promise to deal with it when we mentioned it to them the next morning.

Good location in Clifton with convenient bus route past the door. The free parking was a bonus, especially as there are parking meters on many streets. Near lots of restaurants. Easy to get into city centre, to the University and to the Clifton suspension bridge. We walked into the city as its downhill and caught the bus back which dropped us at the door. We stayed in a family room and the facilities were a poor standard, such as the bed, lighting and TV reception. The no smoking policy was being ignored as the room smelled of smoke.

Friendly staff, good food. The shower in room had very poor pressure and was subsequently very slow - almost a trickle. I asked the staff to report this and on the second night could tell that an attempt had been made to rectify, however, the flow was only marginally better. As the room was on 3rd floor the shower struggled for pressure and needed a booster pump. This will affect my decision to stay there again as a decent working shower is an essential for any hotel of this level.

It was very conveniently situated within short walking distance to local restaurants, shops and The Clifton Suspension Bridge. The bus into bristol centre stopped outside. Our room was quite large and comfortableand situated on the ground floor of the annex building. The shower was good and the heating was very good. It seemed that the hotel could do with a bit of refurbishment. If visiting in the summer it would be quite difficult to open the window for fresh air.
