We found the hotel comfortable and a very good position for shops and touring. The downside was we were very unhappy to find we were on the top floor with four flights of stairs & the top stairway was very steep and there is no lift We are in our late 70s and carrying our cases to our rooms was exhausting. There is no mention of this situation when booking rooms See above

It was ideally located as this was a business trip - and we were close to where we were working. And this hotel had a car park - many of the others we looked at in the area did not. The excellent, helpful and friendly staff were the positive experience at this hotel. The bed was very comfortable. The room was not properly cleaned - with dust on a lot of the surfaces and on the floor. The bathroom door didn't shut properly. The buffet-style cooked breakfast was almost cold both mornings and the 'shared' toasters didn't work. We mentioned this to the staff who replied "it was a regular comment from other guests, but the manager 'couldn't afford' to replace them." Dinner was not available at the hotel on the two nights we stayed - although it was probably a blessing if the breakfast was anything to go on. Although the hotel did have a car park, it was more like a building site, not maintained and with potholes and generally unpleasant. I won't be staying here again.

Its location and the fact that it has a car park. The rooms are very small. We had to change ours to a twin because you couldn't "swing a cat" in the double. Even in the twin there wasn't space to store our siutcase. And the plumbing wasn't up to much.

Just a couple of minutes on foot from Clifton village, where there are many restaurants. Despite being on a busy road and being fully booked, the hotel was extremely quiet at night. The car park was already full when we arrived. The water pressure in the shower on the second floor was poor.

Nice polite staff who were helpful when needed. Breakfast was good with a more than average selection. The room was adequate for the cost, however we found hairs in the bed and bath, the bathroom was freezing as the heated towel rail did not work and the valve to adjust was broken. The shower head was loose in the holder resulting in having to hold the head to have a shower. The water presure in the shower was non-existent when it was anywhere near warm.

The staff on reception were very good and the location was excellent. The single room was very small in comparison to some other hotels I have stayed in.

Convenient location. Polite and considerate staff. I prefer to have a room with a bath. This was not a question I was asked when I booked. No mushrooms for breakfast(!) No tea or coffee in room. I didn't care as I didn't want to drink any, but it seemed a silly oversight as there was a kettle and milk tubes.

Very good location, with helpful staff. TV in the room didn't work, however they took £15 off the bill to compensate for this. Room was extremely warm despite turning off the heating and opening the window - I think this was due to hot water pipes under the floor - so uncomfortable nights sleep. No shampoo/shower gel in bathroom - empty.

The beds were very comfortable and extremely clean. The room was quite small and the shower not very powerful as we were on the top floor!

We liked this hotel's location. Our room was adequate but we were only staying one night so suited our needs. Free car parking at the hotel which was a bonus. I would stay at this hotel again.

The location was excellent, the room I was given (after a request to be moved from the very cold basement floor they put me in first) was excellent, warm, carpeted, with a good of the square. At first I was put in a very cold room in the basement with bare uncarpeted floors an an inadequate heating radiator. With a large window looking out on the retaining wall from the road it was frankly depressing, and had they not put me in another room upstairs I would have moved to another hotel. My one main disappointment in the hotel was the wifi. Yes, it's free but the bandwidth is very low and it also appears to be censored, though this seems random and indiscriminate at times. I wanted to work over the weekend and much of the work required access to internet sites, so I was unable to do what I wanted to.

The room was very small, the food was barely edible. This was probably the worst Best Western that I have stayed in.

It was in the right place at the right price. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bed creaked, the hairdryer didn't work and, at 1:30am, neither did my door key so I had to find the Night Porter in the building next door, which was quiet and dark and there was no information about how to get hold of him. Nothing major, but niggles that could easily be sorted and would have made an all together better impression.

Excellent place to stay. Good location, nice breakfast and very clean- room appeared to have been redecorated recently. Surprising it only has 2 stars. Only problem was the wheels on the bed and no carpet which meant it moved around a bit. However,we discovered that this problem could be solved by putting some newspaper under the wheels as a stopper!

I think this hotel offered good value for money in a very convenient location. There was free parking (which is helpful in Bristol) and the hotel was opposite a bus stop into the city centre. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

The hotel always offers a warm welcome, I have stayed here a few times and even when a solo traveller felt safe on my own.The staff are always pleasant and helpful. The location is fantastic right in the heart of Clifton Village and if you are a parent of a Bristol Student its a great location to stay. I have stayed here a few times and its always pot luck with the bathrooms unfortunately this was not good this time as the towel rail heater was not working and the bathroom was freezing but unfortunately all hopes of a warm shower were dashed as the hot water was a meagre trickle and if you increased the water it went freezing cold not a good start to a day.....this is my only complaint about victoria square and surely it wouldn't take much to fix especially as this would put me off staying !
