The Bewick Hotel145 Prince Consort Road, NE8 4DS Gateshead (Show map) Good, Score from 51 reviews“The highlght of the stay was very much so the cosy double bed in which you just stink into. I read many good reviews about the breakfast but sadly I did not get out of the bed to try the delights what await me which was a shame. The bathroom was surprisinly modern and clean. Overall a very pleasant stay.”

Our room was very spacious and clean. It also had a fridge which was an added bonus. The lady on reception was very friendly and helpful on arrival so good first impression. Also, good value for money. We arrived at breakfast to find every table either occupied or full of dirty pots. The 4 of us waited around and the waitress walked straight past us not acknowledging we were there(you couldn't miss us). We asked where to sit and she said 'Anywhere'. So we cleared our table and waited for breakfast. We all had a full english which would probably of been very tasty but was cold. We asked for butter and the waitress tutted.....therefore we darn't tell her the food was cold. Unfortunate for the Beswick as everything else lovely. Bad attitude waitress or maybe she just had a bad day.

I had to ring and book an extra night and the staff were very efficient and helpful. Very relaxed environment. Very convenient 20min walk to the Sage. On arrival I was disappointed to find that the headboard of the lovely leather effect bed was very dusty as were the beside shelves. I was also a bit disappointed by the state of the towels although they were fine once replaced.

Staff were friendly, location was good for the Metro and city centre. The breakfast was well presented and sufficient. The lack of a separate lounge so you did not have to stay in your room and the general condition of the hotel is very tired.

Every employee we met was very polite and friendly. Our room had a little table top fridge and the rooms were cleaned every day. The hotel is ideally situated for Newcastle with the metro station only ten minutes away. Although the hotel is close to several schools and religious establishments, they are quiet and the bed was the most comfortable I've slept in at this price range. The only thing we could say that is negative about the Bewick Hotel is the water. The pressure on the shower was very poor and to get it lukewarm it had to be run for at least ten minutes. However we never reported it to the staff so I can't comment on their response.

Very cheap for an ensuite b&b room. Clean, modern bathroom. Easy to book through booking.com. Within 1 mile (walking distance) from The Sage / Newcastle Quayside. Whole place is very dated. Staff are unfriendly and miserable. Reception area smelling of stale cigarette smoke. Cooked breakfast provided but they use the cheapest/nastiest possible ingredients. Bathroom clean but strong smell from drains. Very poor hot water pressure - took a long time to get the shower hot, and the jet was feeble. In future I would pay a little more and book Premier Inn.

Room was newly decorated. Also new large bathroom with hot powerful shower and heated towel rail. Flat screen TV plus small fridge Usual tea and coffeee. The room (No1) was a decent size even though it was in the roof, excellent views over to Newcastle. In a pleasant residential area 30 mins walk from Newcastle train station. Plenty cereals to choose from for breakfast as well as a cooked one and toast, fresh coffee in a large dining room. Friendly helpful staff. We asked to book in early and our room was ready. There were no chest of drawers or wardrobe, only a shelf rack with coat hooks and a narrow cupboard with a decent mirror door. There were bedside units and a small table but no where to put clothes if you were staying longer. I wondered if they were still furnishing the room as it did look newly done.

Staff were very friendly, the shower room was spotless and the price was low but the room and decor were very dated. If cost is an issue it might be a reasonable option. The decor was a bit past it's best

Big TV, nice and warm, breakfast very nice, good choice, friendly staff. Family run business so nice personal service. Was upgraded to a family room as no doubles available, gave me the choice of room. Door handle/lock seemed a bit loose - perhaps fix these for added security.
