Fabulous,
Score from 12 reviews
One of Devon's most beautiful wedding venues and bed and breakfast breaks, this 14th century castle nestles in a valley surrounded by 30 acres of lush green land. The River Exe runs through the estate, offering you the chance to fish or just sit and listen as the river makes its way back to the sea. This is an opportunity not only to be close to nature, but to almost touch history: the chapel was built only 30 years after the Normans landed in Britain in the 11th century and stands intact today as probably the oldest 'living' building in Devon. Bickleigh Castle offers bed and breakfast and wedding accommodation with 15 bedrooms, including twin, double and family rooms, available in our newly renovated thatched cottages situated around the castle courtyard. All of the bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Hotel Rooms: 16 Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 19:11 from United Kingdom.

The setting was lovely, the room was in a 16century thatched cottage near the main house, the beds were very comfortable and included in the toiletries was a shoe shine, which I found very useful as I needed to clean my boots after walking to the local restaurant for dinner. (Chef off due to wedding previous day). We had a lively breakfast cooked my Mrs Hill and the owners were very friendly and helpful - I would consider Bickleigh Castle for my wedding . We thourghly enjoyed ourselves. This is purely personal - but I did not realise on booking that the bathroom would be shared with another room - luckily we were the only people staying so was not a problem.

The History is really interesting and the ability to be able to stay in this castle and share in its past was really a lovely experience. It was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was very nice and being able to sit on a 16/17th century dinning table belonging to Princess Catherine (Henry the v111 Aunty) was amazing. The owner was very kind to show us around the castle and the grounds along with a history lession of the Castle. We will definitely be going back again. An ensuite would be nice as the Bathroom is a shared one.

A truly unique, friendly and welcoming place - as far from chain hotel monotony or pretentious country hotels as you can get..! Warm welcome, comfortable room and idyllic country setting - we will definitely stay again Some areas looking a bit tired - stained carpets etc - nothing that a good spring clean would not sort out however

Bickleigh Castle offers a truelly relaxing and magical experience. Staff are very freindly and effiecient. An ideal venue for a romantic wedding or a special business conference. Nearby I saw only my second otter swimming down the centre of the river in a wildlife haven. Breakfast was delicous too, so I will be returning!!!!!!

The owners were very welcoming indeed. They are a lovely family and I was honoured to have stayed in their beautiful castle. I'll definitely stay there again ! The only slight drawback was that the room didn't have en-suite faciities.

Our family spent four days (the Easter weekend) at Bickleigh castle - it was a great time, especially the location, the calm atmosphere (we were nearly the only guests then), the opportunities for the children (many things to explore in a safe environment) and the friendly welcome. We really recommend the castle! Only the beds were a little too soft; a room-shared bathroom at the floor is not optimal, but was no problem for us, because we had it just for our family.
