The room and en suite were fabulous and the breakfast was good. Not very good for older people or disabled. no lift or facility for older people to get their luggage up stairs. we watched one old man really struggle

My husband and I have stayed at the Birch Hotel on many occasions over the years because the location suits us. The hotel is clean, comfortable, has excellent public rooms and the staff are helpful and friendly. We get exactly what we pay for. The food in the bar is of poor quality and the bar tends to be unmanned for much of the time. It can take a very long time to get a drink.

The beds were comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean The restaurant menue was too expensive for a business trip and the bar food was not good. Very small portions and my vegetable lasagne , what there was of it, was tasteless and soggy. My husbands had fish and chips, my grandson of 7 could have eat more. I could hear next doors television .

The hotel is neat, clean, nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly and efficient. We stayed over Christmas as it is close to our family. They served an excellent continental breakfast in our room on Xmas morning (no extra charge). The breakfast in the restaurant on Boxing day was also excellent, with the full range of pastries and cereals to full English, which was beautifully cooked .Lounge has lovely open fire and cosy seating. The rooms were a nice size, with good shower pressure. Would definetely stay again.

An excellent, reasonably priced hotel which we used to stay over for a family wedding. Room much cleaner than most hotels and quiet. Staff most helpful and friendly even though they had a number of parties on the evening we stayed. Meal, wine and service also good. We did indeed recommend the Hotel to fellow wedding guests No views but we did not expect this on the edge of town

Parking was easy. Great location. The atmosphere was flat, a bit functional. A few cheery hellos would have been good.

For our visit - it was the best hotel for my wife and I to visit my mother in the Royal Princess Hospital. The food was standard fare for a chain hotel - Hopwever, my wife and I have stayed many times at the Old Tollgate in Bramber, which is a much cleaner and well presented hotel and I am afraid to say, the food was much better. We stayed in the 'standard' room 209 - I found the wall light shades and the actual light bulbs to be very dusty (don't think they had been cleaned for some time). The carpet was just bearly clean. The bathroom was showing signs of age - especially the plaster around the main mirror and ceiling areas. The round adjustable mirror was loose and was difficult to use when shaving. During our stay we felt we were on a building site - roof repairs on going and outside wall lights being changed and of course - tree felling. The positive side was the staff were helpful and friendly and I did like the breakfast.

I am trying hard to find something. My room No. 231 was small especially the bathroom. I could not even comb my hair between the shower and the wall. I have frankly seen bigger broom cupboards!! The shower cubicle was so small that I had to squeeze sideways to get in even with both doors open. I made my complaints to the receptionist when I was leaving and all she said was sorry about that! A total indifference to what I was saying.English breakfast food was almost cold. So what good can I say about the hotel when I have had this experience, I cant, only to say never again with Best Western.

Fantastically comfortable with a good few nice touches such as the Freeview ready television. Had an enjoyable stay with very helpful staff. English breakfast could have been slightly better but I still enjoyed it.

I only stayed at this Hotel because they hold Masonic meetings there. If these are squeezed out, as seems to be happening, I wont be going again. Excellant breakfasts. Pity no Smoking rooms provided.

Lovely Breakfast,Tastfully decorated hotel.Pleasant staff Unfortunately my stay at the hotel was during the time a wedding reception was being held. The noise a wedding guests banging doors and talking loudly went on to midnight. The guests seems to go away then ,so I thought I would get some sleep. Not likely.Foreign,I think Indian gentlemen started up a loud conversation and made phone calls in what seemed to be the room next door which continued to 4.00am !! I eventually got to sleep at 4.30am. Just not good enough !! I complained to reception twice during this horror night from hell.Never will I return to this lovely hotel again !!!
