The Bird In Hand Inn, Witney  

Nice location for Oxford and surrounding area, the room was nice, the food was excerlent and staff very helpfull.

The shower suffered from low water pressure and the bed was very hard and uncomfortable.

That was probably the best room I've ever stayed in over twenty years of business travel. There was plenty of space so I didn't feel like I would bump into anything as I moved around. The T.V. was a generous size too.

WiFi could do with being extended into the accommodation block for serious business travellers. The shower was problematic, being difficult to shut off properly. The food was delicious, but after a week of being fed at luchtime I needed something lighter on the evening menu, like a simple salad. I think the towels were replaced every day. I think this is unneccesary and wasteful on energy and water.

Having dined here previously and thoroughly enjoyed the food we decided to book a Christmas break. Management had changed and had apparently gone away immediately after Christmas lunch leaving a very junior person in charge of a full hotel. He did his best, but... We were not able to get food or drink after mid afternoon on Boxing Day without spending extra (£40 to get into Witney & back) on cabs. The shower in the room was barely a trickle at best and the boiler cut out when busy. This latter issue was remedied very quickly. Having asked about dinner on 27th, we saw the menu and booked for that evening. Sadly what was available was vastly different from what we'd expected. There was very little from the advertised choice and unfortunately the fish was overcooked. In fairness, a steak was made available and it was of good quality. Overall, we were a bit disappointed

Good location to explore Oxfordshire, lovely pub with a good restaurant. The breakfast was superb. Beds were comfortable, the shower needed tightening as the head was prone to dropping. A very enjoyable stay.

We were impressed with the friendliness of all the staff from the very warm welcome we received from the start and which continued until we left. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and kept very clean and tidy. The meals are excellent value although the menu is a little restricted in choice. This will be our first choice when we next visit this area

This was a return visit after I and my entire family stayed at The Bird in Hand 15 months ago for my younger son's wedding in Oxford. The visit this time was for another wedding and my younger son and his wife wanted to stay at The Bird in Hand as a trip down memory lane. Ownership of the hotel has changed hands very recently, but we still received a warm welcome (some of the same staff were working there) and had no regrets about returning.

Excellent accommodation and the evening meal was superb . The breakfast was also excellent and plenty of it. Would stay again.

Our stay was very comfortable and the food especially was great. The staff are very kind, genuine and friendly. I would certainly go back again to stay.

The only reservation would be about the mattresses which are old and springs seem to poke through into your back when you lie down - if that were fixed it would be perfect.

Rooms were lovely, cooked breakfast included was cooked to order and very tasty. Meals at the restaurant were also nice. Staff were helpful in suggesting places for us to visit around the Costwolds.

It would have been helpful if they had some maps of the area and tourist information brochures at the hotel.

Hotel was even better than pictures...Rooms lovely and clean, warm and spacious! Beds comfy. In a great location service very friendly,Great bar to enjoy an evening drink after a really good meal !
