Having dined here previously and thoroughly enjoyed the food we decided to book a Christmas break. Management had changed and had apparently gone away immediately after Christmas lunch leaving a very junior person in charge of a full hotel. He did his best, but... We were not able to get food or drink after mid afternoon on Boxing Day without spending extra (£40 to get into Witney & back) on cabs. The shower in the room was barely a trickle at best and the boiler cut out when busy. This latter issue was remedied very quickly. Having asked about dinner on 27th, we saw the menu and booked for that evening. Sadly what was available was vastly different from what we'd expected. There was very little from the advertised choice and unfortunately the fish was overcooked. In fairness, a steak was made available and it was of good quality. Overall, we were a bit disappointed

Good location to explore Oxfordshire, lovely pub with a good restaurant. The breakfast was superb. Beds were comfortable, the shower needed tightening as the head was prone to dropping. A very enjoyable stay.

We were impressed with the friendliness of all the staff from the very warm welcome we received from the start and which continued until we left. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and kept very clean and tidy. The meals are excellent value although the menu is a little restricted in choice. This will be our first choice when we next visit this area

This was a return visit after I and my entire family stayed at The Bird in Hand 15 months ago for my younger son's wedding in Oxford. The visit this time was for another wedding and my younger son and his wife wanted to stay at The Bird in Hand as a trip down memory lane. Ownership of the hotel has changed hands very recently, but we still received a warm welcome (some of the same staff were working there) and had no regrets about returning.

Excellent accommodation and the evening meal was superb . The breakfast was also excellent and plenty of it. Would stay again.

The room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The ensuite had a bath and a shower. The pub was cosy and welcoming. The food was very good, on the whole, apart from the breakfast on one morning. The location was lovely.

The owners were not very friendly. The wife, in particular, was positively unfriendly and unwelcoming although the young waiter was very attentive and friendly. There were very cheap products in the bathroom which seemed in direct contrast to the standard of the room. There was no hook in the bathroom for bathrobe or clothes. The mirror light did not work and was not fixed even when we mentioned it to the owners. The breakfast was cold on one morning and the scrambled eggs were inedible

Lovely large bedroom and a great pub. Breakfast was excellent.

Poor quality shower because the water pressure was so low. And not possible to have a bath when I wanted one (4 P.M.) because there was no hot water available until about 5.30 P.M.

Warmth of welcome, attentive but not fussy! Delightful rooms. Beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Excellent food.

it was just an all round enjoyable stay, will use this accomodation again. excellent room, excellent food, and peaceful late at night, a good all round experiance

Very warm welcome and obliging staff and proprietor. Friendly atmosphere. Well eqipped room for price and encouragingly room was designed for use by wheel chair user without it look like a hospital ward. Recommende as thoroughly good value for money and ideal launch pad for the Cotswolds or city of Oxford.
