The decor was lovely, homely and comfortable. Very relaxed atmosphere. Service excellent. The English high tea was a treat. It was beautifully served and tasted delicious. Certainly value for money Gym was closed. Water pump in room (we were in the loft!) noisy

The staff are wonderful and would be the most important factor in our recommendations to others - even though the food, facilities, spa etc were also all very good indeed. Perhaps tea facilities in rooms.

My room was very comfy and nicely appointed and happily warm, as was the ensuite. The Restaruant staff were polite which was something. Very sadly there had been some planning to get to Bishopstrow and my stay was very disappointing. My spa treatment was woefully poor. The timid and unsure therapist could not effect a decent massage at all and her facial, whilst adequate, was even barely that. At £110 a treatment it was very over priced for what felt like a junior trainee's process. The smell as I entered the hotel mid afternoon that filled the foyer was of old Sunday roast and sadly my dinner, steak, was a poor cut being gristly and tasteless. The accompanying red cabbage and apple was slushy and over cooked and the béarnaise was vinegary as often made by an inexperienced or uncaring chefs. Two builders sitting smoking at the entrance porch as I arrived was an unpleasant introduction to what promised to be a luxury country retreat. A copper sand pot filled to the brim with stubbed out cigarettes at the front door was also an ugly and smelly introduction to a supposed high end hotel. It was a beautiful day but sadly the Drawing Room was being renovated (which I had not been forewarned about) and no other public space got the sun, although the library was pretty and warm. Overall the price of Bishopstrow House suggests a much higher calibre of hotel and it was woefully disappointing. I won't be returning and I would recommend to others that they avoid the hotel in favour of the more affordable and higher standards of hotel-gastropubs in the area. This was disappointing as I had also been reccy-ing the location for possible TV location options.

The staff were extremely friendly and efficient and the facilities in the spa area were very good. Overall the hotel was clean and orderly with well kept grounds and safe parking. Certainly a good location for a relaxing break. Although the rooms were well furnished the beds were far too soft and anyone with back problems would have a problem. The sign outside the netrance to the hotel is not prominent and is not lit at night, anyone arriving after dark would struggle to find it! Our bedroom window up in the attic room was completely rotten and in danger of falling out,it urgently needs replacing! I personally think the menu for the restaurant could do with some more wholesome fair, all a bit fancy with small portions!

SPA, Dining Room, Outside, Parking and Bathroom Facilities Rooms were stuffy Uncomfortable bed (I was told that "Supreme Double" room came with two single mattresses which could be twinned, but aparantely there were no more mattresses left)... Quite shocking since the hotel is quite small, so expected overstock, unlike bigger hotels where there may be numerous vacant rooms Low ceiling and small windows - the loft room was poor. The picture is clearly of the more plush and bigger courtyard room - the hotel should really update that picture

I loved the surroundings, the spa, the restaurant was fantastic but most of all the staff made the experience exceptional. I found the room was very hot and had the window open all night. The room could do with air con . That is my only observation the hotel was fab and the staff were amazing. I stayed in room12

The service was amazing. The room was stunning and bigger than our entire flat. We ate at local restaurants which were also perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will definitely be staying there again.

Nice location. Restuarant menu and cuisine was impressive. The first room we were given had a very strange smell. This was because the carpet was soaking wet. On complaining we were moved. As th breakfast wasmade to order we expected it to be freshly cooked it was not. We had to send the bacon back as inedible. The following day we went for kippers and poached egg. The kippers arrived the poached egg did not. We also went for porridge with mapel syrup. The porridge arrived the maple syrup did not. They had run out but failed to advise us of this. Our booking for dinner for a window table also seemed to have got lost.

Our suite was wonderful. The staff were excellent. The location was charming. The heated outdoor pool was a real bonus. Overall we had a very good time but, as I explained to the duty manager befoe we left, on Saturday evening my wife and I found ourselves competing with both a wedding and birthday party for attention and space. upon our return to the hotel on late saturday afternoon it was swarming with people in every room and hall way. Smokers in considerable numbers were congregated around the entrance. We abandoned any idea of eating in the hotel restaurant but then found that we could not get room service. In the end the matter was resolved but only after a considerable delay in receiving our dinner. This is not a criticism of the staff who were simply run off their feet by the demands made upon them. The hotel has to decide if it wishes to serve residents or wedding and birthday parties. It cannot do both successfully. I would add that the management responded sympathetically to our complaints.

The House is magnificent and beautiful. We felt very happy and comfortable, the grounds were beautiful. It was a special family occassion and we all enjoyed ourselves immensley, the meals were amazing and great quality. Only two areas I would recommend a review: 1. The conservatory off the Mulberry Hotel needs better ventilation as it gets really warm and stuffy - but the view is amazing - I would recommend some ceiling fans. There is also a strange loud noise emanating from one of the sealants in the glazing that needs to be fixed. 2. The womens locker rooms could be enhanced a bit - seems crowded.

A most welcoming, peaceful, relaxing hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the location beautiful, the bed comfy and the spa lovely. Very relaxing place to stay. More food choices would have been nice. The evening restaurant food was a bit fussy when it would have sometimes been nice to have something more plain!

Schönes altes englisches Haus. Sehr ruhig.
