The staff where friendly the breakfast was great the room was very spacious and clean would stay again
Alot of noise outside during the night but you staying in a pub which is busy so its to be expected maybe better if they got double glazed windows
Great Breakfast, great location and friendly staff, very comfortable room
The size of the room, beds were very comfortable, everything was clean, breakfast was nice
Traffic kept me awake all night, if I stayed again I would ask for a room in the back of the building. Tv was too small for the size of the room and the WiFi was rubbish but I can use my phone as a hotspot.
very friendly staff, excellent meals, great value for money
not a huge issue but the TV was a bit dated and reception poor
Good quality bed linen and towels. Very comfy bed. Excellent breakfast.
No shower head over bath for hair washing.
The room was very dusty and dirty mould in shower noisy ,smells from kitchen, the food was not cooked and my scramble egg had black bits in from the pan. Noisy from the alley underneath room 4 , people banging doors and shouting most of the night think the whole place needs the hotel inspector as they would shut it down . We was meant to stay for week stayed 1 night but had to pay for two!!!
Beds we're comfy Location is great. Staff friendly. I liked the market day but setting up was noisy at 5am
Market day and the noise at 4.30am. Wifi did not work in room but I sat on step outside. No worries!
Large room with modern touches. Good breakfast
Being woken in early hours by 20ft lorry with taillift unloading right outside our window
Room was big, comfy, staff were very nice, breakfast was ok, no beans in a fry up... amiss
Shower wasn't all that
Large Room it was spotless, the breakfast was very good,,and the landlady was so pleasant and could not do enough for you.
Maybe the lovely little dog roaming round on a long leash sorry.
I enjoyed my stay at The Black Bull it was clean comfortable and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. I was greeted every morning by the lovely Jack Russell Patch he was the star of my stay.
WiFi a bit weak in the room.
Friendly staff exellent breakfast
Rooms at front of pub close to taxi rank so noisy till at least 3am.Could do with double glazing.
Good location. Free off street parking. central to shops & cafes. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
No evening meal available. The heat on the acsess stairway.
Good shower good bed. Good breakie. Amiable staff.
Slightly noises bedroom was near a pedestrian crossing but the High Street location means noise.
Clean good sized bedroom and bathroom with tea and coffee, hairdryer and iron and ironing board.
Music in bar very loud until 11 o clock, even though not many in and it was midweek, outside noises as no double glazing. Breakfast was awful, salty fatty bacon skinny sausages and no beans.
Great location and very helpful staff - would recommend to anyone
Very friendly staff, hotel full of old charm but plenty of mod cons. Evan a proper iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. Lovely breakfast!
Market setting up outside the window at 6am, very noisy!! Window sashes don't work so had to prop open with a tv remote but all part of the character.
Good. Size room, comfy room with a good bed,
TV in room was tiny, but it was basicly OK, breakfast was slow and a very greasy fry up.
Welcoming and friendly. Good size room.Comfortable bed.
Noise from nearby club revellers and market stalls setting up.
Clean. Friendly. Accommodating as we did arrive early for check in. And was cheap compared to surrounding b&bs. To be honest it was better than expected.
I didn't have the breakfast as I wanted a lie in. But my partner said her breakfast was a bit undercooked. But otherwise fine.
The Black Bull was a halfway stop for us on the way to the Lake District. It was ideally placed on the High Street. Plenty to see and do in the short time we were there. Would definitely recommend as a halfway stop.
noisey at night
Comfortable bedroom with ensuite. Very clean and tidy. Slept well!
Breakfast came with the meal. Full English cooked?!!! Not very exciting, no toast offered, no Orange juice. Not a large Breakfast and took over 40 mins waiting for the following to appear. One Slice of Bacon, One piece of Black Pudding, One Fried Egg (Very hard) Half of Tomato and one Sausage. Definitely need to improve on the Breakfast! Staff needs more training to deal with clients in this area. Un- Impressed!!!!
central on high street
dingy and needs updating also at times noisy due to traffic and market getting set up. shower had no power lost cold water completely when sink taps used. Breakfast very basic
Tele didn't work properly. They didn't serve food once I got there at 5 but also didn't have any suggestion of where I could go to get some. Breakfast was horrible, sausages weren't cooked at all
