We had a lovely stay at the Black Bull,very clean and comfortable and the staff where really friendly and the new hosts Steven & Kerry where doing a brilliant job, Good luck to them for the future.

The location is great in a lovely little village. Staff very friendly.

Toilets are a disgrace and bar area sticky and dirty. Trip was ruined by my mates wife who lives in the village and is a total nut job!

Excellent food and friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Easy parking.

Long wait to get food. WiFi reception only good in public areas: intermittent in bedroom. No real ale in bar.

The breakfast was excellent and there was a big selection. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Although the downstairs of the hotel was modern the rooms were a bit dated.

1: Advised on arrival that on weekdays only "full" continental breakfast would be served despite the web site saying there would be a dazzling array of eggs, meat and fish. 2: The cobwebs over the bed! 3: The bin in the en-suite was full of the last guests rubbish 4: Dirty surfaces in the room and dirty side plate and cutlery at "breakfast" 5: The pathetic attempt at providing a full Scottish breakfast after complaint about the penny pinching pathetic "continental" offering. The sausages were off and stinking to high heaven!

A warm welcome at reception, and a friendly atmosphere. Breakfast good, had dinner in the bar, good, very filling. Amanda and Kath very helpful and friendly despite their long hours. Room, very clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. En-suite with bath/shower and plenty of towels.

The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. The location is lovely. The food is really delicious. The breakfast is great value included in room price. The room was beautifully and comfortably decorated.

Beds are a little bit too soft for us - but can that really count as a bad thing?!

Perhaps more staff would be helpful, I felt the lady at reception was having to do a lot on her own particularly at breakfast on Sunday morning. Bedside lamps would be a welcome addition to the room, if you wanted to read in bed you had to have the main light on. I was a bit uncomfortable sitting in the bar, I thought it was more suited to men than to women.

Real fires. Choice of atmosphere ( bistro or bar or lounge)

I was disappointed lounge was cold on first night. Fire should have been lit.

Lovely setting. Very helpful and pleasant front of house staff, rooms comfortable.

New owners only took over a few weeks prior to our visit so still some teething problems - mix up with our booking but they did their best to sort it all out. Service in the main bar for food was apalling - waited an hour for food before they finally came to tell us that actually they didnt have any of what we ordered available, then had to wait another hour for the new order. Food was good when it eventually came. Young lad on the bar was obviosly under training but seemed more interested in playing pool with his mates than doing his job.

Everything, Staff and Rooms were great, i loved that they accepted dogs

We like the location and the history of the hotel. It was enjoyable staying in a historic buidling.

We feel that the hotel is in need of major refurbishment. For example single pane windows need to be replaced to avoid steaming up as well as providing efficiency saving in terms of minimizing heat loss. Secondly, the hotel is dirty. Cobwebs, dust, stained carpets, mouldy shower curtains, peeling paint and the like detract from the ambience of a lovely inn.

We were in the junior suite,which we loved. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived early and Amanda was most accomodating as was Kath. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed our breakfast which was fresh and delicious. I wrote a review on trip advisor Mary S about our stay on 17th september.

very nice hotel, just between Loch Lomond & Glasgow, near Glengoyne distillery. thanks to Amanda (lady at the reception) who helped us out.

the new manageress was very friendly..and explained she had just taken over....and hoped we had a good time..she also apologised for anything that may not be just quite as it should be....considering she had just moved in the day before, we found her very welcoming.and forth coming on changes she was hoping to make...she had lots of good ideas on what improvements and personal touches that would make peoples stay more comfortable.... we ate at the hotel restaurant ..and the food was of a very good standard...overall a pleasant stay...and we will return ....
