A very enjoyable stay at an attractive quirky old hotel in Grassington market place. Staff invariably pleasant and upbeat who coped admirably with my daughter's complicated dietary and heating requirements.
The staff were friendly, food was good and hot! Central village location, comfortable stay.
Although the bedroom was clean, I could smell a wet dog odour. Not being a dog person this was slightly unpleasant, but unavoidable in a pet friendly establishment.
A great place to stay in, good food and staff excellent. Would recommend it to anyone.
Needs new lampshade on bedside light in room 5.
position of hotel
Excellent breakfast .
Friendly, effective staff. Good location.
Limited breakfast; basic not-too-healthy cereal and fruit juice only option before cooked breakfast. Fresh fruit and fat-free yoghurt would have been welcome additions.
Breakfast good. Gentle Jazz night was absolutely brilliant.
Service at breakfast time seemed untrained eg coffee regularly running out.
the poor service
The breakfast was very good
The room was small and cramped
Friendly, helpful staff. Cozy accommodation and perfect setting in Grassington. Very good English breakfast.
Nearly useless wifi. While the food is great at breakfast, we could not say the same for dinner.
Our only problem was our 'king size' room in that it was cramped with a cot in
Warm welcome, very helpful staff. Good breakfast, excellent food in restaurant.
My only complaint was the extremely cheap toilet seat which was unstable and uncomfortable.
The look and location and very homely atmosphere
Loved the location and the most friendly & REALLY helpful staff, Matt & Ellie especially + of course the owner John , who always seems to be on hand. I had a lovely evening meal and 2 very tasty perfect, poached egg breakfasts. Slept really peacefully and a spider will wake me up! Loved the fact that you had a "desk" for writing postcards etc, AND that you had a relaxing chair.
Little bit worried that there isn't an alarm clock for weary travellers. I know better and bring my own but, if I had not have had one, I would have been showing up for breakfast at 9:30am because your sleep is so undisturbed. Tissues?
The music from the restaurant can be heared easilly in some rooms (we requested a more silent room, it was OK) The cleanliness of the rooms was approximate (crisps on the floor, toiletts were not very clean neither) The bed was not very conHfortable The breakfast is between 8H30 and 9H. We came down at 8H40. Everything was closed, nobody to welcome us (lights off,...). Finally, somebody from the kitchen opened to us. The breafast was very poor and a relatively dark place. We do not recommand this hotel, it is really overpriced (the most expensive of our trip, and the worst one in quality)
The Hotel was central (Grassington is relatively a small villlage). The bedroom was reasonably comfortable and clean (however see my comments about the bathroom). Storage was made available for our bicycles.
There are no parking facilities at the Hotel. At busy times of the week the limited public parking in the centre of the village is heavily used. Unluckily we had to ferry our bags and bicycles on foot from the National Park Centre 600 yards away. The bathroom shower surround had ingrained and long establish stains around the base. We reported this to the manager on checking out. The tea and coffee facilities at breakfast were lacklustre and poor quality and the presentation gave you the feeling they had been provided as an afterthought. Finally at £185.00 (2 nights at £92.50) our double room was decidedly overpriced. Sadly we cannot recommend this Hotel and will not be going back.
staff very friendly and attentive to our needs. also pub was in a great location. would stay here again
view from our room, would of preferred front view out onto road. Although these were probably fully booked and we didn't request a front view room
Room was warm
No wifi in room, incomplete menu, ran out of beer!! We asked for sandwich's, cheese or ham insted of breakfast, we got prawns which sat over night in our warm rooms, noy good! Could not get a rsciept when leaving and still have'nt got one after several emails. Ovarall very poor!
Bar Staff very friendly :-) Location
The weather :-(
Staff. Breakfasts Cleanliness
You did not tell me of the free dinner for the first night if we were staying more than one night. We bought our dinner before a member told us of this, Awkward, but we had a full refund.
The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is well situated.
I upgraded the room because this was a birthday treat. However, somehow, the booking was changed and our evening meal was table d'hote rather than a la carte. What came was awful. We were told our room number would be on the table but it wasn't. When we queried this they said they'd been told we were poorly and had requested breakfast in our room. When breakfast did arrive it wasn't very hot. We made the most of the break but it did rather spoil things for us. Would we go again? I would go to Grassington again but probably not the Black Horse.
No car parking facilities
The hotels located in the heart of grassington within fifty yards of two other pubs and shops.
Warm welcome, clean facilities, good breakfast and bar food in the evening.
Music in the dining room area on our first night: it went on until 11pm and I wanted to get to sleep earlier.
Dirty room without windows where you can look outside; two small windows high in the room, only to be opened with a pike. Small room, bad light, one chair. Taking 35 pound on VISA without any notice as part of the total bill
