Score from 2 reviews Wonderful
Food very good, The Breakfast, is the best we'e had at any Hotel, all fresh food. Rooms very clean
No hot water on one morning only luke warm, but don't let that put you off the Hotel
The hotel was wonderful, we loved the location in particular. We will be happy to recommend you to friends/family & come again ourselves.
The only thing we didn't like was that there was an absolutely awful odour in the ladies toilet down near the bar. My partner said the Mens toilet was fine though. I advised a member of staff who apologised & said they'd have a look into it. It still smelt awful the next day but we had no other issues at all.
very friendly and helpful staff.
bathroom not attached to the room we were in, although only had to go across the hall to our private bathroom
The staff were welcoming the room was clean and the bed comfortable. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast. Lots of see and do in Richmond and surrounding area. We will return.
The inn was a bit cold but I like to think that maybe that was due to a resident ghost. If not, think about putting the heating up a notch!
The breakfast was to die for! All produce fresh and tasty. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful.
My room (11) had a private bathroom which was across the corridor from the room, not ensuite. This was a problem in the middle of the night as I had to use a key to unlock the door and it was very noisy! I hope I didn't wake any of the other guests up.
Breakfast was excellent quality and delicious. Unlike most hotels it was individually cooked and items locally sourced from quality suppliers.
food beer old world charm
lack of seating area to relax and drink
Doing the Coast to Coast Walk and arrived early at the Black Lion. The welcome we received was excellent and the Manageress was so good. Our experience was very, very good.
The room was well maintained. Location is great but make sure you know where the car park is before you arrive. Breakfast was superb. Owner very friendly.
Bathroom facilities were across the corridor from my room, no problem in the day but a bit of a pain at night. The receptionist that showed me to my room seemed unable to smile (the other receptionist was great).
Location, staff, food, beer.
Bedroom in need of a refurb- the bed was as tired as I was in the morning.
Service & staff good. Location great.
The bed was very uncomfortable and ruined our sleep.
I thought the staff were very friendly and there meals were excellent. The only problem we had was no hot water on our first day due to boiler malfunction, but the owner was very apologetic and assured us they were trying to fix it. We were given a discount and a complmentary bottle of wine.!
Location Food Staff
The room was clean and comfortable but was small needed a makeover plus a TV that stood on its own stand rather than propped up on booklets.
Being just off the market place the pub's situation was very convenient and the room was quiet despite the pub being busy most nights. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice of locally sourced produce besides being nicely cooked and presented.
On arriving we were told that the room would not be ready for 2 hours but we could drop off the bags. Not a major problem, but the offer of a cup of tea would have been good PR. With the exception of the lady chef the staff seemed incapable of mustering a smile between them.
The food in the pub downstairs is excellent
Quiet hotel in street off main square. Helpful staff, and a very nice breakfast with plenty of choice. Beautiful town in excellent location for Dales, York etc
Very helpful staff, an excellent vegetarian breakfast menu and fine beer.
Separate private bathroom rather than en-suite.
Great steak and wine deal
Not an ensuite room.
Staff very wellcoming and made every effort to make us feel at home. Would go back.
It was a very comfy room. The staff were very attentive and provided an Excellent service.
The location was too close to the town centre.
