Very friendly staff with good food. The breakfast was delicious but beware of the portion size (huge). The coaching inn is in the centre of Devizes. Ask to see the cellars as they were part of a tunnel system that ran all around Devizes in the old days. Room No. 4 is said to be one of the most haunted in England. The breakfast was massive with 2 of everything so we asked for some alu foil and took half of it for later.

I didn't have a problem with the hotel itself other than it's tired and needs updating, staff were friendly, food good, was very clean. Breakfast was good, bed was comfortable. I'm actually a builder by trade and i don't think it would cost a lot to give this hotel a facelift and make it an excellent place to stay.

I've stayed Here several times and its handy for central Devizes right in the centre with parking. The Pub is very old and has lots of character The Beer & food are excellent Not me personally But if you are infirm or disabled you may find the steps up to the rooms difficult.

Lovely old inn in a beautiful old market town. Private parking. Excellent food. Good price for the letting rooms. Would return. Bedroom a bit jaded. Beer selection very limited (2 Wadworth beers-not a great brewery these days). Breakfast chaotic, but I think they were short staffed, so perhaps an unfair criticism.

I've stayed here several Times Its Right in The Heart Of Devizes and is an "Old World" coaching inn. Its clean Food is good and its in The centre of a lovely part of Wiltshire It no longer takes American Express which Is my company card sadly. If you are infirm or disabled you will struggle to get to the bedrooms.

Nice no frills hotel with friendly competent staff, the room was simple, clean and comfortable, the food is good pub grub standard, situated in the market square in the town so walk only in town and scenic countryside is a 10 minutes drive out. Good value for money. Nothing to dislike. Bathroom would be improved by modernising it. The draft through the sash window in the bedroom is a blessing if you like to be cool at night. We liked the old furnishings but some might think a makeover is needed as long as its old world charm isn't sacrificied!

The staff were friendly and attentive. We ate in the hotel and the food was yummy and reasonably priced. Be careful on the stairs! Typically what you would expect from an hotel of that age.

The history surrounding the unique building, and the Spirit that my Mediumship picked up. He was from the late (estimate)1600's, who was an ardent John the Baptist follower, and who had been chained up or 'shackled' and who was in what is called 'visitation,' (meaning not grounded or permanent), (amazing!). Some strange smell in my room which was a little uncomfortable, and needed clothes washing on returning home, as it was strong enough to permeate the material. But this won't stop me booking again.

No one to carry bags to room! Room very small, no radio in room; no hair dryer in room; no heating in room, untill we asked for it to be turned on. Very minimal breakfast, very weak thin and cold coffee , toast was ok!. When we left no one asked if we had enjoyed our stay , or whether everything was ok. We were relieved to get away. Sadly stairs are really dangerous for the elderly! Lack of hand rails and very steep stairs.

I've stayed here several times now, its in the centre of Devizes and has rear parking handy for where I'm working when I'm there. The meals are excellent so is the beer. Its an old timber beamed allegedly haunted pub. The rooms are comfortable, you may get some noise if you are overlooking the front of the pub into the market square but Devizes is a quiet sleepy place on the whole so shouldn't be a problem. It might be a difficulty for you if you are disabled as the stairs are narrow and twisty however staff will assist you if required there are no lifts I did have a faulty tv on this stay but to be honest I wasn't that bothered but it could have been If I'd had been intrested in something I wanted to watch.
