Easy location to find and was close enough to the city after a 20 minute walk.
excellent food good service nothing was too much for the staff
Very clean and staff helpful. We attended our niece's 18th birthday celebration and the food and service was excellent. Very good value for money
While occasionally there seemed like a shortage of staff, the staff were lovely and helpful. We also appreciated being able to place our daughters cot in a large lobby between our room and bathroom that allowed us to relax in the room after she had fallen asleep
Some part of the hotel feel a little tired and dated but generally feel clean.
This is a very pleasant hotel. Good food, clean rooms and friendly staff. Very good value for money.
Free Wifi. Good location. Good big room with huge bed which was very comfortable. Good for a solo traveller.
For the evening meal every table seemed to be given a different menu, the table next to me ordered something that wasn't even on my menu! Everyone should be given the same menu with the same choice! More choice of fruit would be nice at breakfast.
Large airy room.
The furniture was uncomfortable and tired. Bed very hard and uncomfortable
Old building that is full of charm and an open fire, rooms are big and were very clean, wifi excellent, dinner and bar service were good.
The bed was far too hard, it was like sleeping on the floor, absolutely no give at all. The breakfast was very average and for £10.00 was poor value for money. I know the building may be old but the constant thumping from the radiators, really made a goods nghts sleep impossible.
Executive room was a great size a little dated clean enough a few stains but overall clean.
I have stayed at Blackwell Grange once before and remain very happy with my stay then and now.
The service at the bar was terrible. Totally understaffed
The atmosphere of history and traditional decor and efficient and friendly reception staff.
machine drinks and artificial bread.
Staff were very good, very polite and helpful. Food was very nice and even came quickly when very busy.
Room was not great, pool and jacuzzi were a little tired and run down. Bed was awful didn't sleep at all! Whole place is a bit tired and needs updating, main areas were better.
Size of bed
Breakfast - poor quality of ingredients
not a lot
No disable parking in the front andonly1 at the rear. We had to park about 75 metres away and walk all through the hotel to get to the reception. The dance music went on until after 1.00am
During our stay the staff couldn't be more helpful. The reception area is beautiful a with it's original open fire and breakfast was nice too. It was certainly good value for money.
The decor of the hallways which lead up to the rooms were a bit dated and therefore a bit gloomy. Whilst our room was very clean we could however smell stale nicotine. I would have also loved a thermostat as I was cold throughout the night and there was no way to adjust the temperature
I did like the location of the hotel. The hotel was nice but the I couldn't feel comfortable in bed the bed (the mattress was not comfort at all and the sheet was all hari in all over).
I like the hotel from out side the view even from inside the breakfast was ok.
From the website this hotel looks like an elegant comfortable manor house .... wrong!
Room was cold didnt get warm even with radiator on full. Swimming pool and hot tub both cold. Bed was hard with a king size duvet squashed in a double cover. Breakfast over priced for a dried up cold buffet.
Location Breakfast very good. Good parking. Close to town centre.
Shabby door to room, heavily marked. Dirty looking carpet TV not working. Shower very noisy. Room advertised as "special rate" but would not have wanted to pay standard rate for it.
Tired corridor and bedroom décor. Bed creaked to an embarrassing extent. Bathroom sink had lost its plug hole grill so any item smaller than a 50p piece dropped in the sink would disappear down the plug hole.
Staff were friendly Location v handy for Darlington Rooms clean Beds comfortable
The staff we're really helpful. We didn't have an iron in our room but within 20 minutes of asking at reception we had one delivered to our room. The hotels in a great location just off the more rest and a pleasant walk from Darlington town centre.
I didn't like all the bad reviews of this hotel. If we'd find by the reviews we read we probably wouldn't have stayed there! We we're very impressed with our stay!
The food was very good and the staff were very pleasent.
the bed was so uncomfortable and the fire alarm went off twice. I could hear the person in the next room going to the Loo(not pleasent) and the pipes were knocking from 5am.
The carachter of the building and grounds were great. Staff were friendly.
The deception, the rooms and corridors leading to the rooms lack any carachter and are dated and dull. The bed was flat as a pancake with springs stuck out of it. I would rather have seen the pool closed for refurbishment than see young children playing in it when the tiles are all loose and along the bottom of the pool, accident waiting to happen!
Very nice, warm and comfortable room. Meals were good especially Breakfast. Having a gym which opened early was very handy as well.
Some areas of the hotel were looking a bit tired and in need of some TLC. Wifi was particularly poor even in bar / restaurant area.
