The quiet and you get a lie in without being disturbed
The bar prices are a bit expensive.
All staff very friendly couldn't do enough to help if we needed anything. Town centre within walking distance, golf course about 800m away from the hotel entrance
The food was excellent, staff in the restaurant professional and attentive. Check in / out speedy.
The pool area/facilities could do with up dating. The room we stayed in was a little worse for wear and really needed to be re decorated.
Handy access to venue of meeting planned for next day
Price of stay in relation to the room cleanliness WC could do with bleaching room a good polish and dust and hoover stain remover on carpet to get rid of stains
Excellent value for money, nice warm atmosphere. Great food too
Location was good as we had to go out for meal as restaurant was fully booked, Italian girl behind the only bar that was open was helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was good.
Bedroom was cold, spa was poor and needs updating desperately. No atmosphere, Only one bar open, no effort from hotel for valentines night, eg flowers, music etc.
Rooms, Hotel, Surroundings, Staff excellent food. Proximity to Darlington
Infestation of Lady Birds.
The food was excellent and the room was comfy ansld spacious
Wifi does not work
Bedroom and restaurant very cold.
Walls thin, could hear upstairs and adjacent neighbours. Spa was poor. Pool small, Jacuzzi made it difficult to breathe; locker would not open.
Lovely hotel in pretty surroundings, welcoming staff and nice executive room. Very old and traditional but full of character and charm.
The bed was very hard and you could really hear other people downstairs in the lounge even though we were upstairs and through a door.
I liked the price we paid it was fair for the room.
No control over the heating in the cold room, the fact the cups were chipped and cracked and leaking. The tv was in the wrong place in the room and the picture quality wasn't too good. There were black marks against the wall that hadn't been cleaned
Excellent Location and decent breakfast
On arrival reception had no record of our booking. The bathroom floor was littered with paint and/or plaster flakes and the room carpet didn't appear to have been hovered for some time. On morning check-out the car-park was very icy and no attempt had been made to salt it so it was hazardous walking to the car. There was however a notice in the entrance warning that it was slippery outside
Friendly helpful staff.
Cleaning Staff member twice knocked on the bridal sweet door, 8.30 &8.50am. It was the morning after my mothers wedding. We laughed it off but it shouldn't have happened. The first time may have been a mistake but......... The house keeper did make a sincere apology though and no harm done.
Only one complaint - the mattress was very hard
Easy location to find and was close enough to the city after a 20 minute walk.
excellent food good service nothing was too much for the staff
Very clean and staff helpful. We attended our niece's 18th birthday celebration and the food and service was excellent. Very good value for money
While occasionally there seemed like a shortage of staff, the staff were lovely and helpful. We also appreciated being able to place our daughters cot in a large lobby between our room and bathroom that allowed us to relax in the room after she had fallen asleep
Some part of the hotel feel a little tired and dated but generally feel clean.
This is a very pleasant hotel. Good food, clean rooms and friendly staff. Very good value for money.
Free Wifi. Good location. Good big room with huge bed which was very comfortable. Good for a solo traveller.
For the evening meal every table seemed to be given a different menu, the table next to me ordered something that wasn't even on my menu! Everyone should be given the same menu with the same choice! More choice of fruit would be nice at breakfast.
Large airy room.
The furniture was uncomfortable and tired. Bed very hard and uncomfortable
Old building that is full of charm and an open fire, rooms are big and were very clean, wifi excellent, dinner and bar service were good.
The bed was far too hard, it was like sleeping on the floor, absolutely no give at all. The breakfast was very average and for £10.00 was poor value for money. I know the building may be old but the constant thumping from the radiators, really made a goods nghts sleep impossible.
Executive room was a great size a little dated clean enough a few stains but overall clean.
