The room smelled of wet dog, we may as well have slept on a wooden floor as that's what the bed felt like and the bed covers stank of smoke, will never stay here again!
The staff could not of been more helpful. The room was very clean and excellent value for money. Had an excellent 2 nights sleep in the very comfortable beds.
The WiFi was only just useable. Did not however spoil my experience at Blackwell Grange.
Breakfast was good quality the atmosphere was good & grounds lovely
Bed wasn't comfy. bit old fashioned in need of updating but nice enough place to stay would go again
Location and food
Needs badly updating and a good clean would not go amiss
The staff were very good. And the beds were very comfortable.
Could do with hot chocolate as an option in the rooms and a fridge.
Clean, plenty of space, comfortable beds, lovely staff, old fashioned building.
Lighting near mirrors difficult to do make up.
Excellent room in the cottage Very good friendly staff Good breakfast Good location
Average bar area
Staff were helpful and smiley
Executive room was probably nice when it was first refurbished but this must have been at least ten years ago, it was tired , carpet was marked, headboard was stained, bathroom had cracked tiles, mold on the shower, no extractor fan, probably in contravention of building regs, The only reason for staying in this hotel was because all others were full in the vicinity! Bar food was average.
Country house feel with period furniture. Plenty of places to relax. Spa pool though small was adequate. Our superior room was comfortable with room to sit and relax. Breakfasts were full of choice and any requests for extras were dealt with speedily. Will go again.
Blackwell grange is a lovely part of Darlington. The staff were very friendly and an asset to the hotel
The first rooms we were put in were not very pleasant, they had not been cleaned properly, no toilet paper and the beds were very uncomfortable. However when we complained the next day, we were moved to another part of the hotel and the room was clean and bright, and the bed comfortable. Thanks to the staff for organising this.
Convenient and good parking. Friendly staff. Food and drink reasonably priced.
Looking a bit tired and well used. Needs a bit of updating. However this is all reflected in the good value prices.
Staff general ambiance location value for money Don't change it for a modern plastic hotel
No iron or ironing board even though a bracket for them The ramp at the front door I dare not use it with leather shoes! And it takes up the whole doorway
Bedroom was nice, clean and what you would expect. Location good.
The hotel needs updating as it all looks very tired. Not sure if I would stay there again as there are better hotels for less money.
Location is excellent for access to Darlington town centre and the ring road. Friendly staff. Tasty food.
Overall desperately in need of updating. Bedroom carpet stained, as were the bedcovers, furniture shabby, walls all marked. Drinks were pricey.
The breakfast is great
Although only a short distance away from the town, you feel like you're in the peace and quiet of the country & the facilities are good for during a relaxing break .
Sad and tired hotel and expensive for a room only rate. Cups not clean in room and it all seemed to be a bit patched. Also noisy as could hear what was happening in the other rooms...
Easy access, lovely surroundings, interesting building, good food, friendly staff.
Room door closers are vicious, some of the lounge sofa's need restuffing, there is a lot of damp in the walls of the corridor at the back on the ground floor and breakfast should be included in the room cost.
Very peaceful and calm stay at the Hotel. Away from the Hustle & Bustle. Old Decor however that is the theme of the Hotel. Very good breakfast
Location was good.
Dirty carpets, room was very hot and airless, pillows very uncomfortable and bathroom needed a complete refurb. Cooked breakfast was cold on both days. We asked for a quiet room and the disco noise was horrendous. Probably the worst hotel we have stayed in.
he settting was amazing not ata all stuffy and plenty to do. the food was top notch.
lovely hotel and our room was perfect, very spacious (no. 247) we only had a bar meal the first night, but it was delicious (and we ordered very near the cut off time of 10pm,,,so thank you to the kitchen staff for doing that for us!) a very busy hotel when we were there and would definatly go back if we ever need to stay in the area again. nice local park is 10 mins walk away and a short drive into the town. darlington has lots of shops and cafes and we went there and had breakfast both days which meant we could have a lie in and not have to rush about getting up for breakfast in the hotel. nice area and friendly hotel staff.
Rooms were comfortable for a good nights sleep but don't plan on sleeping in as doors slam shut all the time when others leave they rooms!
Not a great selection of drinks on draught and the bottles in fridge where warm ... Were expensive aswell £9 for 2 drinks! The hotel is looking old and dated, could do with a bit of refurbishment.
Where it was was perfect location
Restaurant service very poor. We got a late deal but would have been very disappointed had we paid norm price
Every think was lovely from drinks to food to staff
Room far to hot need air con in room
