not a lot
No disable parking in the front andonly1 at the rear. We had to park about 75 metres away and walk all through the hotel to get to the reception. The dance music went on until after 1.00am
During our stay the staff couldn't be more helpful. The reception area is beautiful a with it's original open fire and breakfast was nice too. It was certainly good value for money.
The decor of the hallways which lead up to the rooms were a bit dated and therefore a bit gloomy. Whilst our room was very clean we could however smell stale nicotine. I would have also loved a thermostat as I was cold throughout the night and there was no way to adjust the temperature
I did like the location of the hotel. The hotel was nice but the I couldn't feel comfortable in bed the bed (the mattress was not comfort at all and the sheet was all hari in all over).
I like the hotel from out side the view even from inside the breakfast was ok.
From the website this hotel looks like an elegant comfortable manor house .... wrong!
Room was cold didnt get warm even with radiator on full. Swimming pool and hot tub both cold. Bed was hard with a king size duvet squashed in a double cover. Breakfast over priced for a dried up cold buffet.
Location Breakfast very good. Good parking. Close to town centre.
Shabby door to room, heavily marked. Dirty looking carpet TV not working. Shower very noisy. Room advertised as "special rate" but would not have wanted to pay standard rate for it.
Tired corridor and bedroom décor. Bed creaked to an embarrassing extent. Bathroom sink had lost its plug hole grill so any item smaller than a 50p piece dropped in the sink would disappear down the plug hole.
Staff were friendly Location v handy for Darlington Rooms clean Beds comfortable
The staff we're really helpful. We didn't have an iron in our room but within 20 minutes of asking at reception we had one delivered to our room. The hotels in a great location just off the more rest and a pleasant walk from Darlington town centre.
I didn't like all the bad reviews of this hotel. If we'd find by the reviews we read we probably wouldn't have stayed there! We we're very impressed with our stay!
The food was very good and the staff were very pleasent.
the bed was so uncomfortable and the fire alarm went off twice. I could hear the person in the next room going to the Loo(not pleasent) and the pipes were knocking from 5am.
The carachter of the building and grounds were great. Staff were friendly.
The deception, the rooms and corridors leading to the rooms lack any carachter and are dated and dull. The bed was flat as a pancake with springs stuck out of it. I would rather have seen the pool closed for refurbishment than see young children playing in it when the tiles are all loose and along the bottom of the pool, accident waiting to happen!
Very nice, warm and comfortable room. Meals were good especially Breakfast. Having a gym which opened early was very handy as well.
Some areas of the hotel were looking a bit tired and in need of some TLC. Wifi was particularly poor even in bar / restaurant area.
We normally enjoy Blackwell Grange, but we were put in a cottage room which was cold with a very well worn mattress which was isolated from the hotel
the staff were very friendly rooms were clean and tidy
the beds were uncomfortable and the matress very hard. the lockers in the swimming pool were very hard to open and close and took several minutes to open.
Room was clean. Morning staff friendly and welcoming Lovely shower in room Lovely walks around surrounding grounds of hotel.
Further out from Darlington than what we were told. Food was of fair standard. Smell of damp and must in corridors. Tables in bar were sticky Ran out of the beer we were drinking (6bottles). Day & night staff were not friendly or welcoming. Staff gave little information of area transport and questions we asked.
kerrie all on her own at the bar was brilliant.
The girl on the breakfast watch on monday 27th was very abrupt. Our bedroom carpet (room 333) was filthy and the pillows were like bricks.
comfortable bed good breakfast
waited over an hour for supper ?central heating boiler until early hours of the morning so very little sleep bathroom very dirty
Rooms need freshening up, lick of paint and carpets cleaned
The bedroom was damp and fusty - smelt disgusting. No fan in Bathroom - I would not stay again
Excellent shower!! Friendly helpful staff
TV in the bedroom not working.
Staff. As previously stayed here
Hotel is "tired". Needs some refurb. bedroom -1 person's had mould on the curtains. stained carpet, Shower in bath with curtain. Has been well used but just needs updating/decorating.
breakfasts.no tissues ,pen nor notepaper in rooms
Comfortable clean room with two easy chairs and clean towels each day
Breakfast could be overcooked due to heat lamps in the last hour otherwise a good choice
Executive room a very good size and they took notice of our request for a quiet room
Room was not clean. Dust and cobwebs and dead wasps on the floor. Struggled to get hot water in the bath and shower pressure very low when on hot although good when turned to cold. Bathroom extractor fan also not working. Breakfast quality only ok, although last time I was there 2 years ago I rated it highly. In all when u pay £115 for a room you would expect the standard to be so much higher!
We usually stay at your Hotel once a year when we visit relatives in Darlington
We had problems with the heating at first but this was sorted out
Very spacious and comfortable room, with very good ensuite facilities. Fantastic food from the bar, although the bar was significantly understaffed.
Unfortunately the kettle didn't work. A trek to reception resulted in the promise of a working kettle STRAIGHT AWAY. Sadly, after waiting 10 minutes, we had to leave for our appointment. When the key was handed in apologies but no offer of complimentary drinks were made. Not the best ending to our very enjoyable stay at Blackwell Grange.
