Blakes Of Dover52 Castle Street, CT16 1PJ Dover (Show map) Very good, Score from 93 reviews“The rooms are clean, you have facilities in the room to have tea or coffee, and in the evening they have a lovely little bar in the cellar.”
Michael,
Penzance
Blakes of Dover is quite unique as a non-smoking ale and wine bar with superior accommodations, less than 5 minutes from ferry and cruise terminals. Trains, buses, and major routes A20 and A2 are all within half a mile. Blakes of Dover offers beautiful en suite rooms (including superior options), sleeping 2 to 4 guests. Well equipped rooms include TVs and complimentary trays. It has been awarded a 4-star rating by Visit Britain - Quality in Tourism. Blakes of Dover has a wonderful bar, providing a delightful place for eating and drinking. Their real ale range has now been extended to include micro brewery ales. Blakes of Dover is listed in the Good Beer Guide, the Good Cider Guide and the Good Pub Food Guide. In March 2006 it was voted District Pub of the Year by the Campaign for Real Ale. Hotel Rooms: 4

A warm welcome and no-nonsense approach. Good value for money, excellent bar and good choice of beer and wine. Easy street parking, Next door to excellent chip shop and near to atm and town centre shops. Good for overnight before ferry.

The couple hosting at Blakes of Dover were very hospitable and made our stay very relaxed. The bedroom we stayed in was very comfortable, the bed was ultra comfort, the best nights sleep in a strange bed for many years. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, horlicks, orange juice and water - no hotel we have ever stayed in has had so much choice. The cellar bar was an added bonus, the hosts were very friendly and made us, as outsiders, feel very welcome. The choice of a place to stay was excellent and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Dover.

The hotel is in a nice, small, family-owned house. Lots of character. The owners were brilliant. Really nice and helpful. The hotel is very close to the Port so the location is perfectly accessible if you are travelling by ferry. If you are thinking of spending some time in Dover I strongly recommend staying at this place.

It 's in the Camra good beer guide, and deservedly so. Friendly localsto chat with, you can take food in to the bar from the chippie next door. Great base if you have a ferry to take early the next day. Rooms are clean and ok. Breakfast is extra and may not start early enough for some

Friendly staff; excellent location for a 1-night stop to take the ferry. The room was pretty large, spec. The bath room. The internet connection is free, but not really stable. There are steep stairs to get to the room, which might not be suitable for everybody. There is free parking in front of the hotel over night, but one has to leave 9am, which might not always be what you want to do specifically as breakfast is served starting 9 am. Unstable internet connection.

Convenient location in town. Easy walk to seaside, bus, castle. Proprietor very helpful and friendly. Nice extra of kettle and tea assortments in room. Breakfast was extra cost, but very filling. Did not expect two story climb up stairs. Noisy doors. Unable to get internet connection either day.
