Blakes of Dover is quite unique as a non-smoking ale and wine bar with superior accommodation, less than 5 minutes from ferry and cruise terminals.

Trains, buses, the A20 and A2 trunk routes are all within 800 metres.

Blakes of Dover offers beautiful en suite rooms (including superior options), sleeping 2 to 4 guests. Well equipped rooms include televisions and complimentary trays. It has been awarded a 4-star rating by Visit Britain - Quality in Tourism.

Blakes of Dover has a wonderful bar, providing a delightful place for eating and drinking. Their real ale range has now been extended to include micro brewery ales. Blakes of Dover is listed in the Good Beer Guide, the Good Cider Guide and the Good Pub Food Guide. In March 2006 it was voted District Pub of the Year by the Campaign for Real Ale.

Hotel information

There will be additional charges for late check-outs, which must be arranged in advance. Late check-out fees: 25% of room rate (for check-outs until noon); 50% of room rate (until 17:00) and 100% thereafter.

Short-term storage of small amounts of baggage can be arranged.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is available on request and is not included in the room rates. Breakfast isserved at 09:00, Monday to Saturday (breakfasts are not available on Sundays).

Lunches are served from 12:00 until 14:00, Monday to Saturday, in the restaurant and the cellar bar.

Blakes no longer serves evening meals, but guests are welcome to order food from the numerous takeaway restaurants in Dover for delivery or collection, and then enjoy them in the bar.

Blakes also serves over 50 malt whiskies in the cellar bar. The bar always has at least 3 real ales on tap from the stillage and it also offers a large selection of fine wines.

Travel information

By Car:
From the M25:
- Take the M2/A2 as far as the Duke of York's roundabout, just outside Dover (A258 junction).
- Turn right onto the A258 signposted Dover Castle.
- Follow the road past the castle, down a steep hill to the traffic lights.
- Go straight over the lights and Blakes is on the left after about 200 m. On-street car parking is available outside.

From the M20, via Folkestone:
- Keep on the A20 with the sea on your right, until you come to the BP Garage and traffic lights (sports centre in front of you), turn left.
- At the first set of lights, turn left into Castle Street (one way).
- Blakes is on the 2nd block down on the left, car parking outside.

By Public Transport:
There are services from London Victoria to Dover Priory. Express coaches also call, via airports and London Victoria.

Important information

Parking:
On-street parking is available at GBP 1.10 per hour for a maximum of 2 hours during the day (free of charge overnight from 18:00 to 09:00). There is also a public car park 2 minutes' walk away at GBP 0.80 per hour or GBP 6 per day (also free overnight). Both locations are covered by municipal CCTV.

Additional Policy Information:
A credit card is required as a guarantee. Late cancellation or no-show charges are 100% for one-night reservations or the cost of 2 nights' stay for longer bookings. However if rooms are re-let this may reduce to a minimum of 15% of the total booking value (plus VAT) to cover Blakes of Dover’s costs.

When booking, please supply a mobile phone number if possible.

Blakes of Dover is not a hotel. It is an ale and wine bar open to the public from 11:30 to 23:00 Monday to Saturday. Early arrivals should present no problems, subject to rooms being ready. Rooms are usually available from noon, however please provide Blakes of Dover with your estimated time of arrival. 21:00 is the latest normal check-in time unless prior arrangements have been made. Please note that after 23:00 there will be no staff to receive you. Check-ins after this time cannot be accommodated. There are stairs to all rooms which may present difficulties for aged or disabled guests.

All major credit cards, except Diners Club are accepted. Cash payments are welcomed in sterling, US Dollars or Euros at a competitive exchange rate.
