Maeva's warm welcome back to Blake's made the stay.
WiFi is somewhat unpredictable.
Room very small Extras very expensive
The room was very different and exciting, great location, we will be returning and our aim for 2015 is to stay in each room in the hotel!
I didn't like leaving :-(
Just a bit pricey, paid £52 for 2 breakfast!
Decor staff location
breakfasts very very small.
Was my boyfriends 30th birthday they sent a cake to the room. Lovely touch.
Staff were fantastic, would stay here again. The courtyard was a lovely touch compared with other places we have stayed in London. The bath was amazing did not want to get out.
Decoration is awesome.
Room service was bad.
The room the bath
The door staff although nice felt not Like bouncers - drinks prices at bar were disgusting
Tired decor. Chipped toilet. Stained floors. Wiring loose on walls. Hearing issue in that windows very drafty.
Staff is friendly and location is good.
The rooms and the overall hotel have aged significantly. I did not even have warm water in my room.
Love their theme of orange and black also the chinese painting. Very comfy sofa and bed!
Some problem with the television in our room, kinda annoying while watching it. Also it can only be watched in bed.
Blakes is apparantly a sexy place to stay, but it may not suit a family. Generally the place is not big, but with good location. I like the food, but not the salt the pepper bottles here. The bottles are very confusing, I heard the hotel have this opposite policy on these bottles and I am apparantly not the first one who suffered. But anyway, a good deal on booking.com, a pleasant stay overall.
Interesting decor and lavish furnishings
We asked for some tea to the room and this was £ 10 for two which we felt was expensive especially as you didnt even get a tiny biscuit with the tea which is what you expect in a 5 star place . ALSO WE HAD TO ASK FOR SOME WATER TO BE BROUGHT TO THE ROOM AS THEIR WAS NO COMPLIMENTARY WATER WHEN WE GOT THERE
Like the unusual decor & restaurant. Excellent breakfast.
Room although de luxe room was very small and dark
We booked a luxury king size bedroom supposedly with antique furniture. The room was so small you could not swing a cat in it and the bed was only 1.4 meters wide. The furniture would appear to be flat pack.we got a symbolic reduction after complaining. Will not go back!
The service and location
Room was very small
Good old school boutique charm. Excellent service and a very sophisticated individual feel. In a quiet part of Kensington quite a contrast from your average modern hotel
Facilities in room could have been better. Mirrorrs and plugs for the girls would be good. We also missed tea and coffee making facilities in room...
Lovely staff Comfy bed Wonderful deep bath
Room a bit small No tea and coffee making facilities
The hotel was stunning, the room was beautiful and would love to go back to experience other rooms
however the service was so bad I would not spend that sort of money to go there again. Having to wait 45mins for room service because the staff were busy setting up for a wedding was appalling. Then charging me and incorrect mini bar bill as well as not having our room ready for check in until an hour after the specified time
Unique individual feel
Nothing in the room is complimentary-many hotels in this price range offer at least a small complimentary bottle of water
Comfy Bed, Quiet Location = Good nights sleep! Good Wifi Staff couldn't be more helpful Location Style of rooms My last 2 stays in London were at Sloane Square hotel, both of which were terrible. Blakes completely outclassed them on everything.
The lift is small and slow, which is normal with old buildings and didn't bother me, but may bother some. The room service is ridiculously expensive versus what you get. £9 for a bowl or muesli. £23 for a cooked breakfast...better off going to one of the many places within a 5-10min walk.
They tried to overcharge me for my room and my breakfast... They need to be aware of what rate a guest has booked in at and not make it the responsibility of the guest to prove it by showing them their email confirmation on their phone. Good job I saved it!
decor entrance decor breakfast room decor terrace garden quality of bath linen fresh orange juice for breakfast hair dryer worked doorman was kind and helpful when I fell and broke my ankle as I descended main stairs on last morning (because the first step is of different height). This doorman also agreed to lend me an umbrella to use as a walking stick. (sorry it broke completely and I had to use cabs as I couldn't walk any longer)
. Infernal Squeaking lift right next to my room. . congress of serious Door Banging seemed to be staying at Blakes. . Bedroom was as Small as a shoe box, seriously, and in sad need of refurbishment .bed head was so short my head was against the wall .carpet in room was very unpleasant to walk on . breakfast croissants and all pastry were of mini-mini size .As I left the hotel at 10.30 am on the last day I was told my belongings were to be removed from my room just then due to the number of arrivals that day. Therefore no chance of returning to it after lunch at 14o'clock as I had been told at first. I had left my luggage packed but asked reception to make sure my i-phone charger would be put together with my 2 bags. It was never done wich I found out too late... at the airport unfortunately, as the bags were already in storage when I returned to the hotel after my morning meetings. . Reception tried to charge me for other client's dinner bills as well as wines and mini-bar, and also salads for someone else's gargantuan breakfast. Reception continued to insist upon it in spite of being proved wrong. I had to speak sternly to pay only for my expenses. I wasn't charged for a small plastic bag with ice provided for my very swollen foot. But I was charged for a glass of tap water wich I had asked for, as if it had been mineral water, while I waited for a cab after I had fallen down their main entrance steps and broken my ankle. (the first step is of different height wich I didn't notice) I had to travel back home in a wheel chair, but Blakes had nothing to do with the arrangements nor did they offer any such help. (my foot and leg is now in plaster up to my knee) It is so very sad to see a place so charming in Anoushka Hempels' day (my parent's used to stay there at the time) be ruled now by a group with such shocking lack of professionalism and such astonishing indifference for their clients.
