Boasting picturesque views of the English Channel and the North Sea, the charming Botany Bay Hotel enjoys an elevated position on the cliff tops in Kingsgate, near Broadstairs in Kent.
Score from 405 reviews Excellent
With views out over Viking Bay, the Royal Albion has a magnificent location, on the seafront, yet also close to the heart of the town.
Score from 170 reviews Excellent
This flint-fronted bed and breakfast was built in 1860, and is a 5-minute walk from Viking Bay. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building, and you have free use the hotel’s private beach hut.
Score from 49 reviews Wonderful
On the quayside, overlooking the river, in the historic port of Sandwich, this recently refurbished traditional hotel offers free Wi-Fi, an impressive restaurant and elegant, modern rooms.
Score from 205 reviews Very good
Great location, lovely old building with original features & great access to town centre. Staff were extremely helpful & made the stay even better
Wifi access difficult but not really a problem however if you need this is patchy due to solid walls of old building
Very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. Comfortable king size bed.
The staff were so kind and helpful
Wifi not available in the bedrooms
Staff were friendly.
Service was amateurish and sloppy. Breakfast was slow, greasy and unappetising. The waiter was barely comprehensible. The WiFi did not work. With investment and above all training for the staff the place has potential, but on our visit Bleak House was an overpriced disappointment.
The location was amazing and the history of the house was fabulous including Dickens study and the underground smugglers museum.
Geoff the butler / maitre'd, receptionist, waiter etc etc was there wherever you looked but to a point it became spooky and weirdly funny. I ordered two gins and tonics and he poured the smallest amount of tonic into each and then charges me £1.50 more for a top up. He was trying to be super-efficient but instead came across as quite unfriendly and very odd.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. House was decorated for xmas which they had obviously taken a great deal of time over and gave a real Dickensian feel to the House along with the open fire in the hallway. Enjoyed a cook breakfast on both mornings and it was fresh and well cooked. Tea / coffee making facilities in the room along with a fridge with complimentary water and fresh milk (no uht cartons). Location of Hotel is excellent. 5 min walk to the High St which has a wide range of restaurants and bars. The Palace Cinema is at the end of Fort Road. Nice sized room (Little Dorrit room) and larger-than-normal shower.
Everything about Bleak House was exceptional. From the staff - Nina, Nicola, Anastasija and Jake, the wonderful accomodation and the fantastic food. Our stay was very friendly and informal and we would definitely stay there again.
Location. Quirky. Staff
Car parking. Small bath.
We were warmly welcomed, excellent cream tea, room was fine, we didn't try the wi-fi, very comfy bed and slept well. we would definitely stay again. Broadstairs still as lovely as ever.
Quirky building with excellent rooms. The Dickens connection was really interesting. Great staff.
We had a wonderful stay here last weekend, what can I say it was fantastic. Our room had a beautiful sea view and was very tastefully furnished and comfortable. Jake and everyone at Bleak House, were amazing, they just make you feel so welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. The food was brilliant, even catering for a vegan. I would recommend this lovely place to everyone. Thank you all for making it such a special Birthday. Can't wait to visit again.
There is nothing not to like.
The shower was broken and leaked unto the floor.
Wonderful cliff top position Good breakfast Lovely garden If you like Victoiana you will love this hotel
£130 for a small room with no bath was very poor value for money Nice to have a small fridge in the room, but it was so noisy we had to unplug it in order to get any sleep. Parking very limited. Main door locked most of the time which meant guests had to walk through the kitchen area.
the lovely tough like china cups & saucers in room , plus the biscuits.
we could seem to get the wi fi to work. Also we had a sea view room but the view was not that good.
huge comfortable bed amazing breakfast staff made us feel like friends
shower was a bit temperamental too many cushions on the bed - that is an issue for me only - I know other people love them
The museum was great. Excellent staff. Very good breakfast. Lots of Character
Wi-Fi a bit weak
Not value for money Poor Internet connection at back of hotel
parking problems no airconditioning poor ventilation poor building maintence
History of the House Sunday Roast
location and views
Fantastic Victorian property steeped in history with a commanding view of the bay. Loved the high quality French toiletries in the bathroom and the free range organic breakfast. The staff were very accommodating and we felt very at home.
We were in the three bedroom apartment, which would have benefitted from a joiner's handy work to create some more bench space around the fridge to prepare drinks etc.
Sea and Town Views, food, cream tea, evening meal, breakfast all very good and well prepared. The house has a lot of character in many ways with it's major link to Charles Dickens.
The bedroom was not very big, the bathroom was very narrow but useable. Unfortunately the double bed was very soft. We also felt that the room was perhaps over priced at £135.00 per night B&B it should be less that £100.00.
The location and views are excellent. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. It was Folk week and very busy in town but the hotel was really quiet.
The hotel is looking a bit tired, with paint peeling off the ceiling in my room. It needs some redecorating and brightening up, whilst keeping the references to Dickens.
very comfortable, good food, good location, friendly, helpful staff,
Great Location Lovely gardens Comfortable yet historical rooms Relaxed, helpful and friendly staff
