Lovely people' Lovely food.
Mostly everything about the place
Chef messed up one meal order - but owner refunded - however, it took the edge off what could have been a perfect dinner
Room was delightful. Very peaceful Excellent dinner and breakfast Very friendly staff
Excellent service and really good food. Breakfast was excellent too.
Friendly staff, excellent food. Relaxing place to stay will stay here again
Bathroom on the small side this is the only criticism I have
The staff were lovely and friendly, the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Breakfast was good and so was dinner.
The shower room was ridiculously tiny. The toilet roll holder juts out over the toilet so you can't sit properly.
The family atmosphere
Greeted by a very friendly male manager - no name given.
Arrived late in the evening after a long day working to find I couldn't have a bar snack or something small - so found myself having to order a table in the restaurant. Felt very uncomfortable as didn't have a chance to shower/change due to the lateness of my arrival and the food was not cheap. My order was a steak cooked medium rare but it arrived very very blue. Despite leaving half the steak, I wasn't asked if the meal was ok. Only after physical payment, was it questioned. When I gave my feedback there was no apology just a shrug, then ignored. The room was really musty which did aggregated my asthma. I couldn't open any windows as they were all locked. The room didn't hold any information so there was no understanding as to what was available or who to call if there was a problem etc. Overall a very disappointing stay. PS I wouldn't park any expensive cars in the car park - it is so tight that your neighbour can't help but bash their car door into yours!!
Clean and good decor. Food is excellent. Main rooms are excellent. Staff are friendly and sincere.
Parking is a bit of a squeeze sometimes.
The historic buildings; the warm greeting; the very pleasant staff and the room was very comfortable. The price for a solo traveller was very good, unlike many other hotels. I dined elsewhere but, if breakfast was an indication, the food is also very good and a large business group gathered for dinner.
No mobile phone reception. Probably my supplier.
The location, staff and the food was excellent. Will be visiting again soon.
Way lovely to see the original features in the house & old pictures of local places. The beam running through middle of the loft room was a bit weird in middle of the night, there is stairs to accomodate tho. Vert comfortable bed & good breakfast.
The chiller fridge next to the bedroom was extremely noisy during the night. The 3 windows only had net curtains - no blinds or curtains so nothing to keep the 5.30am sunlight out of the room. Bedroom missing a length mirror. Couldn't get a late checkout, wasn't even offered half hr - 1 hr extra for a payment. Shame as there's aren't many decent quirky places to stay in the area & somethings finding a place that offers a little extra keeps people coming back.
The history and decor of the hotel. The staff were v helpful
The Wifi was not throughout the building in that you had to connect with different passwords in different locations but I didn't worry about that too much. A small point
The room was very comfortable. The staff were really helpful. Very enjoyable stay.
Great place! Nice room, fantastic bed, excellent dinner and breakfast and really good service. Whats not to like?
Shower room a bit on the cramped side
The food, the décor and the amazing relaxed atmosphere - we wanted to stay longer and will be back again
The staff were friendly, helpful and conscientious.
The welcome was warm and friendly and the bed huge and extremely comfortable
I would have preferred a more vigorous shower
Tried several places in surrounding villages - this is best! Quality breakfast.
Friendliness & Service
Food was superb
Good food and service in restaurant
We were in bakewell room and road noise is terrible. On top of this the emergency light came on at 1.30am waking up my children, after over 2hrs the owners had to sellotape a black bin liner over the light. Needless to say we had very little sleep! When I asked for a discount the following day, I was told that it was not "their fault". Not the best for customer service and satisfaction
The room was comfortable, great food and welcoming staff
The room was a little cold and the bathroom had a draft
Great food. Hospitable management. Well located yet very peaceful stay.
I could only stay one night.
