Excellent city centre location right in the middle of the main shopping centre and close to a number of nice restaurants & pubs. River, park, Roman attractions and historic City Walls all within a 5 min walk. Secure public parking close by. Rooms are furnished well. Good value and an excellent choice if you want to enjoy time in the heart of this lovely city. Minor points only - The lift is very small (maximum 3 people at a squeeze) and quite claustrophobic, but if you choose to take stairs instead the hotel will deliver luggage to room. Beds & pillows weren't that comfortable. Rooms at front overlooking main street are noisy at night.

very well placed the cooked side of breakfast not up to much, seemed like every item cooked in advance and stored even tho you were made to think it was freshly cooked to order when it was definately not. We normally stay in the crown plaza, we will however stay at the New Blossoms again. The attraction of the Crown Plaza is private parking.

I liked the cleanliness and size of the hotel room and the staff were excellent; friendly and helpful. The only problem was the bedroom was too hot. We had the window open all night but we were still hot.

Breakfast was a delicate treat. We had no idea about parking and that was a huge hassle when we arrived to even find the hotel through one way streets. When we were able to finally asked staff for help they were extremely helpful and the problem was solved quickly.

Friendly and attentive staff. You need to provide at least one computer for your residents to use in a public area. Until this trip I had never stayed in a quality hotel which did not have have such a facility!

Staff eager to help. Clean.Excellent breakfast. Quiet. Central location.Good Christmas atmosphere. We have stayed in this hotel before- no complaintsat all.On this visit the first room we were allocated was very cold and didn't warm up. As soon as we mentioned this to reception our room was changed which was good but it was obvious that the heating in that part of the hotel had a problem as even the corridors were cold and noticably warmed up as we moved to another area.

The very lud music from the bar next door meant our double room was unusable and at 1.30am had to move rooms to a single room where it was quiet. The night receptionist was very helpful, moving furniture and finding a bed etc, however, this was very disruptive. The Guest Manager the next day explained it is a city centre hotel and noise is to be expected. We have stayed in many places throughout the world and this level of music in the room is not usual. We were not warned about this before we visited the hotel. I am writing this review so others can take this information into account before booking.

Fantastic location literally seconds from the high street! Everything you could need from a city centre hotel. We would definitely stay here again. Not really an issue for us but could hear fairly loud music from about 8am not sure where it was coming from, this may be a factor for some people. We were in room 117 and had to go down 2 small flights of stairs with a pram so not ideal. Again not really an issue as only stayed one night! I would have asked for a different room if we were staying longer.

It was a lovely, sophisticated hotel in a very convenient central location. The standard of the decor and service were excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly. My only negative comment would be the lack of parking at the hotel. There are public car parks close by, which you need to budget for.

The staff and the service they gave. It's the first time in years that I have encountered the thoughtful, courteous and pleasant services of a whole group at a hotel. The reception, dining areas and housekeeping staff were attentive without being obsequious, they did things correctly and quickly, and no request seemed to bother them. It's an old hotel and our room was fairly small but properly furnished; I gathered this was true of all of them. If one seeks the old-fashioned grace and courtesy in an appealing setting, this is a wonderful hotel. I'd certainly return and absolutely recommend it. We were surprised by the existence of a nightclub on the ground floor. Customers spilled out to the street in a loud party mood, right under our open window. However, it was our choice to keep the window open and the hotel had provided a fan in case one felt the air was stuffy but wanted to keep the window closed.

It was perfect for our needs, central, great near the shops. Clean and rooms adequate. We didnt have any view, but for one night that was fine. I would comment that the room was very hot and difficult to get cold water to run, it was warm! My only other comment is that front of house were a bit dull, offering no conversation or welcome when waiting for room allocation. Breakfast waitresses were much more welcoming. Just the lack of welcome and polite staff from front of house. Poor effort to make any chit chat.

The location of the Hotel, right in th ecity central. The exellent breakfast and extreemly friendly staff The price of the room for 1 night was a bit steep, we've had better last minute deals in Chester, No car park, a nightmare to travel through town to the entrance, then having a 15 min walk with luggage from the multystorey. The only other complain was that we mentioned was that the rooms were extreemly hot and we struggled to open the window as it was at high level.

Room size - perfect. Coffee/tea facilities in the room, ironing facilities, internet and general comfort made my stay very pleasant. Parking is a nightmare.I was not prepared for this, and the Grosvenor car park is not that near. Poor preparation on my part. My tom tom could pick up St. John Street, but could not plan the route thus it was unhelpful. No idea why this was the case, and perhaps the hotel should check with satelite navigation data for the area.

Staff were excellent, very accomodating, always willing to help and made it an enjoyable stay. The feature room we had was very disappointing. All rooms were very hot and the beds not particularly comfortable. More should be done to make the front rooms quieter; noise should be expected in a city centre, but more could be done to minimise the impact.

There was no hot water in the shower. The hot water tap in the sink had to be left to run for about 15 mins before it became warm. No such luck with the shower which never got any warmer at all. Maintenance man said "sometimes if the room hasnt been used for a while it takes time for the water to come through" Very poor response and he clearly recognised there was nothing he could do to rectify the problem. So we had no shower for all the time there. Although we had a good deal on hotel it did not include breakfast - but we went down to breakfast but was told it would be £15.00 per person for a full English & £13.00 for continental breakfast which even by hotel standards is quite expensive.
