Friendly service, comfortable room & good food. Warm & dry inside when it was cold & wet outside!
No stand-up shower.
Evening menu very good. Food very enjoyable.
Having to frequently go to bar to order each course and drinks. Breakfast staff were useless. Cooked breakfast arrived at table before we started our porridge. Top up of tea and coffee wasn't offered. Found nylon bristle in food, management reaction was " oh ".
Accessible walks directly from this location. The staff were friendly, the food was home cooked, delicious and good value. The building is old and full of character, the floor boards creak, it had loads of atmosphere.
Dog friendliness, comfy sofas, games
Lack of fresh fruit at breakfast
The welcome was brilliant Staff were attentive and kind Room was cosy and well decorated The doggy care and ability to have your pet with you was amazing
The inn had a very homely and relaxed atmosphere . The staff were helpful and friendly and the food excellent . There were also trays in the rooms for walking boots and tea and coffee provided in each room . Information provided about local walks
Location friendly staff
Should have asked for a room which had been modernised. Big portions of food but lacked flair, sometimes less is more and a bit basic. Forgot it was dog friendly, it was an assault course to get to breakfast, great with dogs not great without.
Great breakfast and good service Lovely location
Would have liked a better view There is a room which overlooks the valley wish we'd had that one
EVERY THING AS ALLWAYS,
The owners and staff were all excellent - very welcoming and helpful and always cheerful and chatty. The food menu was very good and there are also 'specials' so the choice and quality were that good that we only ate out one night in the week we stayed. The hotel/pub is very dog friendly (as were most of the places we visited during our week in Devon - including beaches). The location is perfect for those who like to trek - lots of hills, valleys and cliffs. Close by are the lovely small towns of Lynmouth and Lynton, and we took an easy drive to visit Dunster just across the county border and loved it. All in all, a great hotel and place to stay - would definitely recommend!
In our room the shower was little more than a dribble. Not really an issue if you are there just for a weekend but we were there for the week so hence the mention.
A bit nosy at night time with guests not closing their door with the key their doors slammed with a loud bang. Nothing to do with the owners they couldn't do enough
Room was clean and comfortable. Good menu for breakfast and evening meal. Inn open all day, so hot or cold drinks always available. Staff very pleasant.
I like dogs, though at times there were rather a lot of them! Particularly not too keen when having food, although most well behaved. Weather had changed and was rather wet, would have been nice to have had a heated towel rail in bathroom, central heating was off.
The relaxed environment for those guests with dogs and, without dogs. The time spent in writing up walks from the hotel. Good food and local ales.
At times the bar appeared crowded when another bar area was closed.
Helpful staff,character property,clean room,comfy bed,good food,superb Sav Blanc
Beer not pulled through for early evening pint,so tired and too warm
very laid back about dogs. Great location. Fantastic Evening Meals. Relaxed atmosphere.
Because we are spoilt at home with a six foot memory foam mattress/bed we found the bed uncomfortable.
Brilliant position for walking, comfortable bed and good food!
No proper shower, lots of dogs!
location staff food beer cleanliness
showers not to good due to private water supply and old plumbing but fair price to pay for such a lovely inn
Location, view, menu, staff.
Room very hot at night.
Fear location atmosphere of pub fantastic. Great value for money, food well cooked and good value.
Shower over bath could be better with curtain.
Attitude to dogs. Friendliness of staff. Location.
Slightly 'run down' feel.
The comfy bed .The beer. The view from the window.
Having to leave I would have liked another day there.
Lovely people, delicious food, fantastic location.Great stay.Thank you and we will come back :)
Quite cold room and small pressure in the shower.
Wonderful location. Excellent food. Would definitely stay again.
A great way to experience country hospitality in Devon. A perfect balance between stepping back in time and modern comfort. We certainly enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, great food and meeting the locals. Would definitely recommend this if you are looking to stay in a traditional English inn.
Friendly Staff, Beautiful location and excellent beers. Especially the Korev Lager. Will be back.
