This 18th-century Victorian building has a superb central location in London's Notting Hill neighborhood. The famous Portobello Road and market are around a 15 minute walk away. Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus and High Street Kensington are a 10 minute drive from Blue Bells Hotel. Hyde Park and Holland Park are just over a 10 minute walk from the building. There are plenty of buses to the very heart of central London and the West End, which guests can catch from the nearby A40 road. Notting Hill Gate London Underground (subway) Station is less than a 5 minute walk away. Rooms at the Blue Bells all have a TV and tea and coffee facilities, and there is free Wi-Fi in public areas of the building. Guests should note that the hotel does not have an elevator. Location is ok, in a nice neighbourhood, though be careful with the address: it is 16 Pembridge square, not 16 Pembridge Villas, even though some websites wrongly state that address (which is nearby but no hotel there!). - Breakfast was ok but not great (no fruit or yoghurt at all! - you get toast, marmelade, hot drink, 3 kinds of cereal, and orange juice). Avoid this hotel if you can. Any youth hostel would be better and cheaper at the same time. We had booked two rooms, but one of them - even supposedly "non smoking" room - absoluvely stank of smoke, and staff insisted they were "non smoking rooms" (yeah, with an ash tray on the table). The room we got instead (on the 3rd floor) was also a smoking room. Our room (room 26) looked out onto a wall that was parallel to our window, only about 40cm away, so there's basically no light at all. There's not even tv to distract you: only 4 or 5 local channels were working in our room. Neither shampoo nor anything else is provided (just a little soap), the bathroom was absolutely scruffy; the rooms are sad, gray and shabby. I really mean it when I say, don't go there.

The staff in the reception were great. Thanks for their help. The hotel does not provide water heater, which is inconvenient for me.

It was 2 mins away from Notting Hill Tube Station It was very cheap in comparison for similar locations on New Years Eve Bedding clean Breakfast simple and basically self serve with toast, hot drinks and cereal Mould behind bed in basement room, shabby, chipped and old furniture and fittings. Staff were very solemn and breakfast staff particularly seemed annoyed with people wanting breakfast??? Every tube going past rattled the room as in the basement Very very warm which was great for December but can't imagine it in warmer conditions Very shabby but expected after reading reviews therefore in line with our expectations and needs which were a bed to stay in after the fireworks!

It was located in a beautiful building. (Sadly the premises and facilities were in a poor state.) There was a computer available for guests. The bedroom was tidy but in need of decoration. There was a piece of cardboard across part of the broken window in the bathroom. There was no plug in the handbasin. After a rain storm water dripped onto the bed due to a blocked roof gutter. We were offered a different room which we moved to for our last night. The continental breakfast was frugal. The computer provided for guests had a mouse that needed to be replaced because it worked so poorly. Secondly, the computer appeared to be very slow in responding to commands.

The location in Notting Hill, close to the tube was great. The bed was good and the bathroom clean and ok. It was quite noisy as my neighbours talked loud and watched (loud)television till late evening. I had to sleep with ear plugs. Suggestion: max volume on televsiion or remove tv's from the rooms. Ask guests to be quiet as the walls are thin or do somethin to the rooms regarding noise reduction.

Nice room. There was no hot water for 2 days. Very loud if you sleep under someone else room - when somebody is walking is like somebody in walking directly in your room or on your head.

The hotel has not even the basic facilities and should not be considered as a 3 star hotel. There were no heating in the room even though it was mid November. We could not have a proper sleep since you could hear loud and clear inside the room the underground. Last but not least there are rooms which are on the second basement (like a dungeon) while there is no such info on the description.

Very good location for Portobello market. Shabby hotel. The floor is not straight and the noise from the tram made me so uncofortable all the time (even in the third floor). Poor breakfast. One of the male staff was overly friendly to me. But most of the other ones are not friendly at all.

The hotel was clean enough and well located in Notting Hill Gate. For £50 it did the job. I found that the room was a little old fashioned and could have done with a lick of paint but for me the main disappointment is that the two members of staff that I met were pretty unpleasant and it seemed that I was disrupting their day.

Comfortable bed, good location, big bathroom. I know you get what you pay for but this place was really pretty awful. Not clean, not maintained at all...broken furnniture, hairdryer....absolutely unfriendly and unhelpful staff. They might as well put up some bunk beds and reopen as a hostel if they do not want to give you clean towels or replace broken stuff.

The reception manager was welcoming and friendly, the bed was comfortable, bedding and towels were spotless and the bathroom nice and clean. The room was at a good temperature and plenty of hot water. It was close to all amenities - tube travel and shops. For the price it was excellent value and I would definitely stay again. The carpets and walls/paintwork/ bathroom tiles were very tired looking and there were no lampshades. The tv remote didnt work - I couldn t get itv. The breakfast didnt start until 8 and I had to leave at 7. Would have been nice to have just a hot drink and croissant before I left.

Have stayed twice at the blue bells. The location is just perfect, clean spacious rooms, a very good value for money. Have found this website very useful to book hotels around the world in many occasions. The only down side of the Blie Bells hotel are the night receptionists, who tend to be unfriendly, in the two diferent occasions I stayed ther, they have asked to make the payment in cash, which I had on me but if I didn't have it with me?. Why couldnt I pay by card, if at the moment of booking I have used cards. I felt discriminated for being young and black. I have even had my ad photocopied last time. Didn't understand being discriminate for Asian receptionists. It's a strange procediment in a hotel in England.

Its location - I think if it was redecorated & the staff more friendly then it would be a very good place to stay. I found it adequate & cheap for London which was good I thought the staff were not friendly or helpful enough. The room needed redecorating. The window would not lock & the doors - bathroom & main did not have an extra safety lock on them
