Good breakfast, very comfortable bed and nice hot shower.
Lack of car parking on site was a small inconvenience but we were able to drop luggage off and park for free.
Very good pub - excellent food, staff first rate and very comfortable. Because the restaurant is so good it is a real bonus not having to go out and find something. Would definitely stay again.
There was a dull noise all night - some sort of air conditioning unit or pump. Made sleeping a challenge (and I'm deaf) - apart from that all good. Parking was not straight forward.
Being central in Witney, close to shops and cafes. But such good double glazing, hardly any traffic noise noticeable. Cosy comfortable room.
Only one central (bright) light in the bedroom.....no side or table light. My (very comfortable single) bedroom was above the bar......evening music (monotonous base notes) VERY noticeable after 9pm.
What a massive and positive step change from the days of the old Marlborough Hotel. Great position with a vibrant atmosphere and most helpful and friendly staff. We would happily return.
Witney is a lively place so no town centre hotel is going to guarantee tranquillity. For us, the convenience of the location and the quality of food and service more than compensated.
The Blue Boar is a lovely little hotel with a nice bar and restaurant. Breakfast was first class and service was very good indeed. Everybody was friendly and happy to spend 5 minutes chatting. Witney is such a lovely place just to relax and unwind.
Excellent place, lovely food, best vegetarian breakfast ever
The attitude and ability of one waiter who was on duty Saturday lunchtime and Sunday breakfast. He has a beard and is excellent at his job. The receptionist on duty on Monday morning when we checked out. The chef who was on Sunday morning breakfast. Sunday breakfast was tasty and well done to the chef.
No parking in/around hotel a nightmare re unloading luggage. Shower needs some domestos down the plughole. Not really a comfy room, one up from Travel Lodge. No hot water at all Monday morning. The chef on Monday morning 1st Dec who served me what was supposed to be Egg Hollandaise. It was the worst ever.
Lovely hotel, right on the high street but not noisy. Very nice restaurant. Lovely spacious family room. Bed was really comfortable.
Sat nav sent us to a tiny street round the back of the hotel. There is no parking at the hotel and parking is on a very busy high street.
Welcoming, friendly and efficient staff: comfortable and well equiped accommodation; well prepared and reasonably priced food; and convenient town centre location.
Our stay was excellent in every respect, we cannot fault any aspect of our visit.
Location Good breakfast
No parking Bathroom dirty
The food was fabulous and the room was lovely. Fantastic location in central Witney.
We both commented on the smell as we walked in which wasnt very nice and there was a sense of chaos and lack of organisation throughout our stay.
Location on the Market Square in Witney. Great evening meal and breakfast. Good bedroom with comfy bed, modern/clean bathroom. Nice cocktail bar at the front of the hotel.
Although there is short term parking close by, long stay parking is a 10 min walk away. You can do a quick drop-off of bags etc. outside before taking car up to the parking behind the church at he top of Church Green. WiFi ok in bar but doesn't reach the bedroom.
Room, friendly staff, excellent restaurant, lovely location
No parking on site. Not a real problem though as plenty nearby
The room was lovely, very spacious and comfortable! The breakfast was good when it arrived.
I phoned ahead to request an early check in (12pm) as we were staying for a wedding, the receptionist said they would put a note on my booking and ask the cleaners to prioritise this room. When we arrived the lady on reception proceeded to tell me about check in times and wouldn't let me get a word in edgeways to explain a note should be on my account as I had previously discussed this. She quickly rushed of to get a manager, when I hadn't requested to speak to a manager, and felt we could have resolved the issue as we had a friend staying at the hotel and could have changed and left our bags with her. I went off to park the car (there is no parking on site) and when I returned another friend of mine who was also staying at the hotel started to tell us how the receptionist was moaning to them (the customer) about me. I felt this was extremely unprofessional behaviour and my friend told her so. When we finally checked in, the room had been cleaned early as per my request so the drama could have been avoided completely, had the receptionist checked my notes to my booking. At breakfast the following morning we waited 40mins for our breakfast and ordered coffee which I had to ask for 3 times and took 35mins. The hotel was really nice but the service and staff really let it down.
Really nice place Good location Great facilities Good restaurant
Room was a little hot - even with ten window open
clean sheets and clean towels decor
having to use the room intended for disabled access. The bathroom was dirty, no one had cleaned the floor properly, there was no lid for the toilet. No where to put our toiletries. We went for an afternoon nap but were shocked awake buy a deluge of bottles being dumped in the bottle bank under our window. The double bed was two singes pushed together with no mattress cover to cushion the join, there was no mattress cover on my single and the 2 buttons were very prominent. The service was very slow for our breakfast outside. The panels on the door were dusty.
Very friendly staff, great breakfast, clean and near to public, will come again.
Room cleanliness and general state of the hotel. Late Breakfast up until 1130 very civilised.
Lack of parking but this was not a big problem as facilities existed nearby.
staff were great, food excellent
terrible smell of drains in the bedroom and main toilets
The Restaurant food was excellent and good value
Smell of strong cleaning agents in hotel room corridor
Staff good, hotel cleanliness good, breakfast good.
If you stay somewhere for more than one night then it is important to have drawer and wardrobe space! Room really hot with lots of noise from the road.
The location and building were lovely and the staff on the afternoon of our arrival were great. We were taken to our room, something that was both welcome and a nice touch. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. On the morning of departure the breakfast was well cooked and presented.
There were only 2 slight niggles. On arriving early and asking the lady on the front desk for information, her response was somewhat curt. I don't know if it had been a hard morning , but it didn't give a good very first impression. Our room was a disabled room, which was fine, but for a couple of points. It would save the staff time if when not in use for a disabled person if they don't stack pillows on the bed over the top of the alarm button. The only down point to the room was the bathroom that smelt of mildew.
Good food, good location and friendly staff
The bedr mattress was very uncomfortable and the let down
Bed - very comfy good shower good food offer - dinner & breakfast friendly - helpful staff Gym in walking distance
very hot - fan offered as I left - (good location for winter!) noisy - as had to have window open - there was a total oik outside fast food outlet early in the evening early morning - lorries, street cleaners etc - very loud
