Score from 90 reviews Good
the colleagues were really friendly and the food was great, breakfast was really good with a big choice for the best start of the day.
the access to the carpark was tight, but manageable with care.
staff very friendly couldn't do enough
nothing as there was nobody there to let us in at the agreed time, and the phone number given was unobtainable.
the fact that because the hotel was closed for the night,we had to drive 300 miles to get home, and this isn't a good idea when you are tired and in your mid seventies.
Hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful.
TV was too small when watching from the bed. Wi-Fi was intermittant.
great staff, good food, perfect location for shopping
room needs some updating, and tidy up
Beds worn out booking not received given room in rear of hotel no direct access to pub bar area tired and worn
Loved the spacious bedroom and bath
Parking is a nightmare if you have anything bigger than a mini
the room and facilities were excellent. the bar well stocked.
there were no real issues to spoil the trip we took
noise from bar
Varied and interesting breakfast menu Staff did their best clean
Noise level from floor below on Friday 26 was high till around 12.30, but able to hear/use mobile, watch tv. Noise 10 times worse on Saturday 27th, intolerable, could not hear to use phone or tv. Called at 11.30 to ask when it would stop - told around mid-night and noise level reduced to Friday's level at 12.15 and carried on till almost 1.00am. Asked to speak to managers on 28th, when leaving, but they were in a meeting or still getting up. Emailed yesterday, no response. Very unprofessional to leave staff to deal with complaints - which they couldn't do anyway - but were sympathetic. With little or no sound-proofing, they should not use bedrooms immediately above noisy parties with loud PA systems. I had practically no sleep for 2 nights and as the functions were private, could not join in (on the basis of if you can't beat them, join them). I am very upset and angry about the whole experience. Other guests were also affected, but my room was directly in the firing line. I paid for a bedroom to sleep in, which was not what I got, which negates other good points like the varied breakfast menu. I have never complained before about a hotel.
car parking facility
On arrival, unprofessionalism of staff in registering not only us but another couple who had had to wait even longer !. Whilst waiting there was nowhere to sit and the Reception area was so close to the door that we had to keep stepping aside for people who were in and out to smoke. The noise from the bar and also from a group of customers waiting for their dinner table was off putting. A member of staff finally came to attend only after I had gone in search of someone...and we were eventually booked in, then taken through a door to a staircase (no lift!) with a very musty smell to it - the girl showing us to our room couldn't find it and we travelled up and then down many stairs before being shown into a dark corridor - she didn't know where the light switch was so attempted to open the door for us in the dark..this took several minutes as she was using the wrong key. We were not told of a step up and so tripped into the room - which was disappointing to say the least. Whilst clean, it offered no other comfort to us and at this point we decided to leave. After receiving our complaints the management agreed not to charge us for the room. This is the first time I have ever experienced this level of poor service at a hotel. A local person told us the next day that the street the hotel is situated on is not the best place to be on a Friday night in Carmarthen!!
Think 1st building was built in Elizabethan times and built on 2 or 3 times since so this is an old quirky property not far from a very good shopping area. Large comfortable room and bathroom with plenty of space. A good base especially for the Welsh Botanic Gardens. Evening meals in the pub/restaurant were really good. So even if you don't stay would recommend you eat here. Good choice of food at a good price. Staff really nice and helpful. On site car parking although a bit tight.
Bed was not very comfortable, could feel the springs. Mentioned this on leaving. Strong perfume air freshener when we arrived but we don't like strong perfume smells anyway. Being adjacent to the road we could hear the buses outside our room but not a major problem. Could also here the hum of what we think was the the air conditioner unit at times in the night but not a major problem. This is after all an old building
Loved the hotel from check in to check out excellent will be returning soon.
Nothing everything was excellent
we love the food in this hotel great value for money staff are very friendly and helpful a pleasant break away
rooms comforable , maybe a lick of paint
Friendly staff and homely feel to hotel. Ideally located to the town centre Excellent food both breakfast and evening meal.
Felt to be short on staff covering duties which lead to some delays in service not only for the hotel but the pub side also.
We opted for the four poster bed, which was okay, but plumbing a bit antiquated.
Awful steak dinner - served on a skillet which carried on cooking it until leather.
Hotel parking. The interesting town of Carmarthen. The evening entertainment.
Nothing that mattered.
value for money , staff very helpful, breakfast a* room clean and comfortable
Location. 2 years ago the staff were nice and helpful
Went down to spend money on a meal to be told "you sit there" before we had even asked for a drink. She couldn't cope with a few other people ordering food then us walking in for a drink and wanting to eat there. Needless to say we left and took our custom elsewhere, where I might add we were welcomed. Breakfast girl didn't know how to make a pot of tea, only one tea bag for 2 people! A disgrace!
Not able to have breakfast at7.00am with a lot of workmen staying they should give people this option if not possible a refund on the cost of the Room
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent cooked breakfast in the morning. Room a bit tired looking but comfortable.
Staff where excellent and very polite.
Room and food not very good.
