The place outdoor is not as I seen on the website the bathroom: the light over the mirror does not work and water of wc does not work well the continental breakfast is not so various in general is not a 4stars hotel

the hotel staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. the food was excellent and the portions just right i.e. not too much. both dining areas had a very relaxed ambiance although i would have preferred the background music to have been a little louder so it could be heard but not to an intrusive level. the bar/restaurant/ sofas and fireplace room was excellent particularly at night with a nice easy going atmosphere.

it is a very old building with one or two draughty areas like in the restaurant where you couldbe sitting at a window area which has vents just below table height. we had to move table as it was too cold there. in the other bar/restaurant the draught caused by smokers going in and out of the back door area got a bit cool at times. our room had a shower which was fine but it wouldalso have been good to have had the option of a bath as well particularly as my partner had just spent 3 days walking in the hills and her feet and back were looking forward to a bath.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Boat. We had our dog with us and our room was situated right beside a door leading out to the garden. There were lots of lovely walks around the area and one very close to the hotel, which was great for first thing in the morning before breakfast. We are looking forward to going back.

Lovely traditional Scottish hotel in a stunning location. Quality of stay is much dependent on price. I was on a business trip with a colleague and in single room accommodation which is very basic - shower fittings faulty and room very small. However, staff are extremely helpful and food and ambience of hotel are excellent. I was gobsmacked to find that they charge for wifi at a whopping £3 per hour.

Staff, location, ambience and quality of food

The food was delicious, the fine dining was a wonderful experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a classic room, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. A nice touch was the towels layed out as swans on the bed and the chocolates. The new years eve hogmanay gala dinner was delightful and the scottish dancing and bag piper was amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nothing. We stayed in a classic room, which was a bit on the small side and is due an update. It the website did state the classic room is a budget room and it was good value for the price. Was clean and had ample storage.

Food was very good. Relaxing atmosphere particularly in the bar area. Hotel was a nice size.
