Building is genuinely old with great character. Well-placed for exploring N Wales. Staff were very good. Quality of meals excellent.
Don't go if you want 5-star luxury as the hotel and rooms need a refresh (planned by the owners).
Staff friendly room spacious view wonderful meal delicious breakfast above average
The location and staff were lovely
Very expensive for the room comparing it to other hotels I've stayed at
Amazing location, house and grounds have loads of character. The room was very spacious and comfortable with an excellent modern bathroom. The bar and lounge area was also comfortable with good bar food.
The staff was awesome, very hospitable.
Location. For walkers doing Offa's Dyke it was a little out of the way. For those travelling by car, no problem.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We loved the location and staying in Y Bwthyn (the cottage).
The position of the hotel nestled in a small valley.
We felt as if we were invisible and that our stay was an inconvenience. There was no option of any food on arrival even though the website stated that check in was up to 10.00pm. Early breakfast again was not an option, though we were given orange juice, cereal and a banana. On returning to our room early evening it was evident it had not been serviced at all. The road up to the hotel was in poor repair with many potholes and a cattle grid which could pierce the tyres; a real danger if using this in the dark.
Staff were very good and the food very good. Fantastic location and a hotel with great character.
We were given to understand that the hotel had just been taken over. We felt very sorry for the staff who looked like they were battling against the odds! The hotel lacks enough staff and needs organisation badly. No blame can be credited to the staff.
