This charming 17th century inn is full of historic character, furnished with oak paneling and boasting open fires and flagstone floors. Comfortable bedrooms combine traditional style with modern facilities. The restaurant and lounge are attractively decorated, and meals can also be taken in the bar. Located in 3 acres of land on the edge of the Badminton Estate, between highways M4 and M5, this cozy little hotel with a rich history is close to Bath, Bristol and the Cotswolds. Hotel Rooms: 11

The hotel was very pleasant, the young man on reception very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, location very good, generally a nice friendly atmosphere with comfortable accommodation, We were a little disappointed that, as with many hotels, unfortunately there was very little water pressure in the shower. It seems a shame that hoteliers do not appreciate that the majority of travellers like to be up and out quickly so that they can enjoy the countryside, a simple addition of a pump on the hot water system or installation of a power shower would greatly aid the showering experience and make the hotel worth a second visit. One other slight disappointment was that the seat covers on the chairs in the dining room were stained which was a shame as the food was excellent.

Lovely, friendly, olde-worlde ambience and service. Fantastic Inglenook fireplace in the bar. Excellent food. Biggest bathtub we have ever seen in a hotel/B&B. The squeaky bed!

We were a little disappointed. The owners were very pleasant and welcoming on arrival. However, the rooms we were given were very cold and the bed in the ground floor room felt damp. The bed was most uncomfortable and was in fact just a 'hideaway' bed that folds away. The bathroom was freezing and the shower not much warmer! We were provided with an electric heater which did help a little. The wardrobes had not been cleaned properly, there were dead spiders and an item of clothing from the last occupants still in there. The bar area was very pleasant and they very happily provided some late night drinks on our return from our party. Breakfast was pleasant, adequate but a little greasy for my liking. All in all, a beautiful location, pleasant staff, but more attention is needed in the rooms.

A very pleasant 2 nights at Bodkin. Although very busy, the staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is set in a lovely area, and was an ideal base for our trip to Bath. Our room was comfortable and had all the facilities we required, but best of all was the superb food! Compliments to the Chef and everyone else at Bodkin.

“We found it very much a true english pub atmosphere. The Landlord Charlie and his wife and staff couldnt have been more helpful. We are delighted to have found a place like this to stay when in the West Country - especially if going to visit Bath, Longleat, Bristol etc,” Jane, Broadstairs |
