We travelled from Scotland to the bolholthotel for my friends wedding. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and very calm. We arrives on the Friday, wedding was on Saturday. We had booked for the Saturday night too, but it was a separate booking from the Friday stay. We had checked with reception to see if we could stay in the same room to save us moving out belongings and checking in the morning of the weeding. The rooms we were in had already been assigned to different guests, the reception staff were brilliant, they managed to fix everything out for us so all we had to do was pick up our new keys when we arrived back from the church. Rooms were clean and good space with brilliant view. Food was good and all the staff were brilliant and made us feel welcome! Overall, was a brilliant stay and would recommend it.
Can't fault it.
Room was small but cosy! Facilities good! Bathroom good! Staff friendly!
Nothing negative to add
Overall the accommodation was convenient for a stop over whilst attending a wedding at the Stables. The staff on reception we're welcoming
The big let down was the organised chaos at breakfast. The buffet area was completely in the wrong place and we felt like we were in the way of the kitchen doors and a corridor leading to bedrooms. There was an area that was a wasted space with a couple of chairs which would have been better suited. The food was fine but when we asked for milk we waited at least ten mins. We asked for the juice to be filled which was eventually done but the fact there were no glasses was completely overlooked. Once at the table tea or coffee and toast was offered but it took an age too arrive. The food was fine but the unorganised staff (although polite) where a shambles. !!!
Comfy bed, staff good and nice location
Breakfast service was poor, food and crockery not available and had to repeatedly ask for it
the building was historical
found meal expensive other then that are stay was good
Evening meal and breakfast where both good. Pool is great much bigger than most hotel pools.
Main hallway - needs total makeover what a terrible carpet and my room was dated. Staff not the most dynamic, pleasant enough but think they lack the training and guidance given to other chain hotels.
We had a lovely room. Family room. Very well equipped and clean and comfortable. It was a joy to stay there. As we stayed in a very well known hotel the previous 3days in Edinburgh Which wasn't a patch on this hotel. We actually missed our breakfast and was reimbursed. The same happened at the other hotel. But wasn't offered any money back. We will definitely be staying here again. Thank you.
The stairs to our room were quite steep. Also the view wasn't all that nice.
Good leisure club. Nice grounds.
A little too far to walk to town centre. A bit dated decor.
Although it's location was close to quite a large town, the location, set in it's own extensive grounds made it feel as if it was way out in the country. A less than 10 minute drive brought us right into the centre of Bury. Plenty of parking and the warm welcome made us feel happy to have found this haven of peace. It was a last minute decision to book a hotel and stay over instead of driving home from the event we had come to Bury for and I hadn't realised there was no lift, but when I asked for a ground floor room when checking in because my wife suffers with arthritis, the allocated room was immediately changed to accommodate us. Thank you to the lady on reception, not every hotel we have stayed in has been so helpful. The room was comfortable with enough space for our requirements. The breakfast deserves a special mention. We both thought it was by far the best breakfast we have ever encountered in a hotel. Freshly cooked and served quickly, while still hot. We were still commenting on it as a feature of our stay that night with friends. I would certainly use the Boholt Hotel again.
Why oh why do bathroom designers do it? If there isn't one of those awful 'single mixer taps' which you bang your head on when rinsing your face, they put a glass shelf there to do the job instead! To avoid banging your head you must stay more upright, so scooping up water to rinse your face means that half of each scoop, runs out of the back of your hands and onto the floor. This bathroom had the much more useful conventional hot and cold taps, but the shelf took over the 'head banging' role. A minor irritation, true, but don't the people who design the layout use the bathrooms themselves?
Friendly and very helpful staff. Good breakfast, dining area is comfortable, nice atmosphere good layout of tables and kept very clean.
Bedroom pillows were uncomfortable
the site and the swimming facilities
noise in the corridors at night, query smokers the breakfast was skimpy for £10 and bacon v poor
This hotel was recommended to us and it lived up to the recommendation 100%. Will definitely be returning again.
The location was good, the leisure club facilities were excellent and free to use..room was nice size very clean
