peaceful and well maintained grounds. spacious and well presented rooms. excellent breakfast and helpful, polite and welcoming staff.
nothing not to like
Short distance between the hotel and the venue for the xmas party
Floors seemed very thin. We could hear the couple above us in and out of their room; showering at bizarre times of the night - all resulting in a poor nights sleep.
I took my elderly mum for an outing on the East lancs Railway and this hotel was near enough for us to get there and back easily by taxi. The room we had was very big with great lighting , important as my mum has poor eyesight. Staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Room was warm and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good.
To be honest, not much.
Uncomfortable beds and pillows, comparatively expensive add on breakfast
The leisure facilities are excellent. Their inclusion in the room rate makes this a very reasonable price.
The room decor needs some updating, especially in the bathroom.
The bar staff were especially pleasant with the lady behind the bar having worked there for 12 years and was very chatty welcoming
It just looked a "little bit" dated.
A lot of hotel for your money. Helpful staff. Clean room. Good value breakfast.
Its only a small gripe, but the decor could do with a general touch up in the public areas... but like I say, not a big deal.
layout of drip
noise of constant dripping of water externally, disturbed nights sleep also room was too warm.Constant banging of doors by other residents.poor sound insulation of building.
Did nt like The Bolholt .!!!.. the room smelt, staff so very unprofessional ... need training in customer approach & conversation . Well to answer correctly would be good ..
Exceptional value for money, great room, very friendly staff, brilliant swimming pool and a five star breakfast
Spa/leisure facilities very good. Staff helpful. Room was warm and clean
Internal decor looking a little tired. Felt a little like an older style retirement home.
This is the first time that we have stayed here. The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel was lovely and clean. We hjad dinner in thye hotel and it was divine at a reasonable cost too. We will certainly be going again.
The only thing is the beds were a little uncomfortable as the matress was very thin on woodeen slats.
Great pool and gym facilities, friendly staff, plenty of parking.
Food was not great, had a sirloin steak for £22, should have had the burger for £10.
Nice breakfast and large rooms
Needs update in corridors.
Value for money General comfort of the room Reception
Breakfast extra so did not take it General public areas a little tired
4 poster bed
the bed was sqeeky every time you turned over it rattled
Staff were very helpful, rooms nice and spacious, very clean.
Creaky floorboards Slamming doors Paper-thin walls 1970's decor
Nice surrounding area clean rooms and public areas. Breakfast is ok but fallen short of selection.
Was in room 36 very close to service machinery very uncomfortable during the night mainly for light sleepers. Also With Find service a poor reception.
There must be some rooms and parts of the hotel that have been modernised and are a lot better appointed than others. I didn't recognise the room I stayed in from other travellers' descriptions of the hotel. The staff were lovely - friendly and helpful - couldn't fault them.
The room I was in was quite dingy, lighting wasn't great, wifi coverage wasn't great, furniture was all a bit basic, and the decor in the room and corridors was all showing signs of age and wear. It wasnt what one expected from the "country house hotel" publicity. Reasonable value for money, but you should match your expectations to the price. You get what you pay for.
The hotel was tired and could do with updating. My room was on the edge of the stairs and so noisy ftom early morning.
great swimming pools although carpeted changing rooms are a bad idea and stank.
For ten pounds a head and for non meat eaters the breakfast was disgusting, the only edible things were out of a tin. The mushrooms were seemingly bathed in fat and tasted like sweaty socks, the scambled eggs (the only option) were vile, the tomatoes and beans tinned. We were offered one slice of toast each.
We loved everything about our stay. The hotel was beautiful and in fabulous grounds, staff couldn't do enough for you, room was very clean and comfortable and the leisure area was excellent.
Nothing, we loved everything
The room 38 was lovely, the breakfast was super but would of like to have been told that we could have fried eggs
really glad that we did not have to go in the other breakfast room (far to hot) slow service for bacon etc. there was a really big queue when we left. BAR PRICES !
staff and room was excellent as were the meals
