Beautiful countryside setting but very accessible to major highways and the Edinburgh airport. 1.5 miles from Linlithgow and 12 easy miles to the airport.. Great location for a morning flight from Edinburgh. We left before breakfast serving hours but they still provided a "cold tray" continental breakfast.

We had 2 adjoining rooms booked as a family room - excellent value and very clean. Staff lovely. There was loud talking from 7.30 for half an hour or so- we were next to the staff quarters so not sure if it was them. Also the toilet didnt flush very well.

1. Friendliness & Helpfulness of Staff 2. Good Value Food & Drink 3. Beautiful Location 1. Tiredness of General Hotel & Room Decor - Scruffy Furniture 2. Rucked Room Floor Carpet - Tripping Hazard 3. No Room Wi-Fi 4. TV too low down to view comfortably from Bed Please note - that with good careful investment this could become an excellent hotel / Restaurant - It's location alone is superior to others in the area. (If the name had been Bonny-Side, it would have been well deserved).

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in the hotel. It was well appointed, spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly. On the down side it was under staffed, and there were far too many defects. The wet- room could and should have been really good but the water pressure was so poor that it was necessary to move around just to get wet. Also the toilet door did not close due to the brass carpet rod being bent. The one member of front of house staff left in the evenings had to cover the bar, reception and table service resulting in an indifferent service in all three areas. It was not a matter on poor industry but one of capacity. The food was of good quality, well cooked and well precented. Overall both my wife enjoyed our stay and would stay again. As stated above the material state could have been better and the staffing levels were inadiquete resulting in long waits for servive.

We enjoyed the wonderful panoramic view across as far as the Pentland hills, yet the easy access to major roads in all directions. We also found the staff friendly and approachable despite having to cope without a manager, although one was due to start the following week.Meals.as befits a country hotel, were substantial and we enjoyed a relaxing stay The southern access road from Linlithgow is a small challenge to newcomers as,although the hotel can be seen, the access road is quite twisty even though it is only about quarter of a mile long

I have stayed in hotels costing far more whose facilities do match this hotel. Nothing was to much for the staff. Breakfast was great so was the Curry/rice. If we had more time would have spent extra days at hotel. You would have to be a serious 'nit-picker' to find fault with this hotel. Value for Money = 100 % +. A technique was required when flushing 'loo'

Staff were attentive and very accommodating. Position is good with great views (not at their best in February, but should be stunning in spring, summer, autumn!). Whilst offering a good selection at breakfast, could add fruit and yoghurt

Breakfasts were generous, though not particularly imaginative. Location was attractive with, due to elevation, excellent views of surrounding countryside. The building itself was of historic interest - and has the potential to be an attractive place at which to stay, but see below. The conservatory was an attractive dining area...again, see below Hotel staff did not always seem overly enthusiastic about their work, reflected in the rather shabby state of parts of the hotel which really required upgrading, Furthermore, we noted a saucer and a fork which had not been properly washed and one morning found a fly in the orange juice! On our second morning we were ushered away from the conservatory into a disappointingly dull room, despite this offering no advantage to staff or guests. In fairness, the price per night (B&B) was competitive, which perhaps explains in part the negative points mentioned here

The location This hotel were unable to make a pot of tea and on four attemps the tea was still look warm and other guests also had compained about receiving cold tea, Breakfast was very limited for eg; no fresh fruit, full breakfast was cold and sausages uncooked. Breakfast Area where we were seated was in the Bar and was Dirty and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned from the night before

We were in Edinburgh for the Rugby Match. The hotel is more or less on our route to and from home so very convenient. Food was good and the menu varied. Breakfast excellent. Staff very friendly and could not have been more helpful. The hotel needs some modernisation but we will use it again.

The Bonsyde had such lovely views across the valleys and gave a feeling of space which you wont get in an hotel in a town. The Staff were always friendly and willing to help. We had a brother who was in a wheelchair which was able to be accommodated for an evening meal. It was good to be able to choose the size of your breakfast and pay accordingly - not having to aways pay for a large Scottish Breakfast. Most inpressed.

The location was near Edinburgh Airport. Also it was high on a hill overlooking the valley. Our room had lovely views. Also our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, especially Katie. We would go back for a longer stay if we returned to Scotland. The only disappointment was the small selection of draft ales.

Location, Indian food, lack of piped music most of the time, unobtrusive staff who were extremely obliging. The room was an excellent size. The plumbing was erratic, and the shower didn't work very well.

We were delayed 5 hours by line-side fires and train failures, so arrived at the hotel in our hired car at 1.45am. The staff had left the front door on the latch, and continued their welcoming behaviour throughout our short stay. The room was lovely, with a stunning view. Great location for touring the central area of Scotland and for visiting Edinburgh and the historical sites around it. Shower a power-shower, with usual temperature control problems, but this did not detract from our lovely and too brief stay.

Breakfast was great, and the staff very helpful. A bit out of the way, and you need a taxi if you want to get anywhere, and I mean anywhere, this hotel is in the boonies.
