The staff were genuinely friendly, the location is lovely overlooking the valley, great to sit out with a beer watching the world go by. Sat there talking to a couple of locals, who passed on many tips about where to visit and information of the local area. Loved the dialect. Met the owner on Sunday who is very proud of his Hotel (rightly so) and looking to upgrade the facilities further. The Hotel food was great and the double room we had was large, airy and very clean, fantastic views from the windows. Good value for money.

We have stayed many times at this hotel when visiting family living in Linlithgow. We have always enjoyed our stay, the rooms are comfortable , well equiped and very clean. For us the location is ideal as the train link to Edinburgh is ideal and very reasonable. Good road links too. The Indian menu in the restaurant makes an interesting change.

The Bonsyde had such lovely views across the valleys and gave a feeling of space which you wont get in an hotel in a town. The Staff were always friendly and willing to help. We had a brother who was in a wheelchair which was able to be accommodated for an evening meal. It was good to be able to choose the size of your breakfast and pay accordingly - not having to aways pay for a large Scottish Breakfast. Most inpressed.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is good and the views are lovely looking over Linlithgow and the palace. The fire alarm went off the night we stayed. On going to investigate I was met by one of the night staff a gent who asked me why the fire alarm had gone off !! how would I know ?? He assured me and another guest everything was ok so I went back to the room the alarm went off again less than a minute later. This time myself and my partner went down stairs this time to be met by two of the night staff who didnt seem to know what to do. The younger man said he had tried to reset the alarm but couldnt !! and said he thought someone had touched the alarm ?? ehh no one else around !! I asked if they had checked all the rooms in the hotel they said no so I suggested they check all the rooms to ensure there was no fire. About 15 minutes later the younger man came back said he had looked in all the rooms and there was no fire. The older man called his boss to let him know the alarm had gone off. They did not know what to do and obviously had not been given any training on how to deal with a fire drill. At no time was there a call to the fire services to check the buliding if in fact any concern regards the safety of the guests. For this reason I would never stay at the hotel again, any business having such a low safety standard has to be a hazard. I lay awake for at least 2 hours just to make sure that we werent going up in flames. Not good. Would like to see some sort of staff training for all staff should the alarm ever go off in the middle of the night for no reason.

Location, Indian food, lack of piped music most of the time, unobtrusive staff who were extremely obliging. The room was an excellent size. The plumbing was erratic, and the shower didn't work very well.

We were delayed 5 hours by line-side fires and train failures, so arrived at the hotel in our hired car at 1.45am. The staff had left the front door on the latch, and continued their welcoming behaviour throughout our short stay. The room was lovely, with a stunning view. Great location for touring the central area of Scotland and for visiting Edinburgh and the historical sites around it. Shower a power-shower, with usual temperature control problems, but this did not detract from our lovely and too brief stay.

Breakfast was great, and the staff very helpful. A bit out of the way, and you need a taxi if you want to get anywhere, and I mean anywhere, this hotel is in the boonies.

Room great size. Room service just wasn'T.....took nearly 2 hours to arrive. Made my views clear but only explanation was that there were lots of tables booked! Food was really good though. Pipes made terrible noise when water been run (think that must have been what the clunking was) thankfully went off at night

Location excellent 20 miles out of Edinburgh. The town of Linlithgow has so much history to investigate. Henry, the manager, was so helpful with local knowledge. Facilities were sufficient for our stay. Very good bar and meals. The directions are very poorly signposted.
