The friendliness of most of the staff, the decor & comfort of all the communal areas (definitely very good for relaxing!). The ambience of the restaurant & good quality food. The location, & of course the amazing views. Good size bedroom with comfortable bed & sofa. Also facility of the free wi-fi was a plus! I don't really like to complain because it has by no means put us off returning, but there is only one thing I found that let the Hotel down & that is that the bathroom we had looked a bit shabby & could do with updating...don't know if it was just ours or not!

The hotel has an excellent location on the shore of Lake Windermere. we paid the extra cost to ensure that we got a scenic view from our room and it was well worth it just to wake up to such a fantastic vista. the reception staff were totally professional and the evening meal was mouth wateringly good. The hotel is positioned on a steep incline, consequently there are lots of stairs to negotiate, it would have been beneficial to know that you can park outside reception to drop of your luggage which will save a difficult suitcase haul through the myriad of corridoors. The pool area is clean and tidy, but the gents changing facilities were basic at best and extremely warm due to the lack of air flow through them. Breakfast on the Sunday wasnt hot, probably because tyhe cheff didnt turn the hot plate heaters on?

The food in the hotel restaurant was outstanding, we had an evening meal which was all beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and it was well worth paying the extra for a lake view room as it was just gorgeous to look out over. Definitely be stating again.

Lovely room, pleasant staff, decent breakfast and breath taking views. I had a wonderful stay at the Beech Hill Hotel It's quite a way from Windermere station with no proper transport links so it's better to drive there, otherwise it's about £8-10 each time one needs to go to the nearest town or station. But friendly staff will book taxi for you.

Location and surrounding scenery Pool was too cool, and the addition of a sauna or indoor hot tub would have been nice - particularly on rainy days.

Friends asked us to accompany them for a 2 night stay. We had a lovely 'Select' room overlooking Windermere which we understand had only just been refurbished. Plenty of storage and the bed was enormous! Heating was not that good though as radiator around window was shielded by one of those silly radiator covers so hardly any heat came through and we had to request a portable heater. Perhaps also if the floor length curtains ended at above radiator level this would be more prudent! Staff were very pleasant and the bar meals/sandwiches were lovely and fresh. Hotel does need to fit a lift. I have back and knee problems and did not relish the stairs each time to get to our room. I understand the refurbishment is ongoing until all the rooms are brought up to date so perhaps some space could be found for a lift as some rooms are quite high up? We did not like the fact that albeit this was a special price room, payment was taken from our account a month prior to our visit. Is this really necessary coming from a **** hotel?

The room (number 5) was very comfortable, and the views were fantastic. The 65 steps from the room to reception. The evening menu was restricted and poor value.

Really surprised with the stunning views and the size of the rooms including whirlpool bath. We found it definitely had the Wow factor although the stairs were quite tiring but didn't spoil our holiday. The pool was lovely and warm with ideal changing facilties. Found the whole experience of staying at Beech Hill really memorable and will definitely book again next time we go to the Lake District. Far cheaper than b & b for the facilities you got!! Certain ends of the hotel were cooler than others but didn't spoil our stay!

Beautifull setting. Food was very good but the returaunt only gives the option of 3 or 5 course evening meal at a fixed price +vat which is very expensive at £32 approx for 3 courses, and they will not reduce the cost if you only require one or two courses. Very unhelpfull and poor value as you feel you are getting ripped off.

Very pleasant stay anf friendly staff, evening meals expensive. Explained on booking that we were celebrating two special occasions but no special surprises on arrival Surprised hotel didnot have non alcholic drinks (beer) available and once we raised the issue they promised to have it brought in the following day but it never arrived.

The location of the hotel is superb our room had a great view over looking the lake, close to Bowness and ideal for touring the surrounding areas. No lift in hotel not very good for disabled people as most bedrooms are below dining and bar areas.Evening dinner expensive means having to go out of hotel at night for meals.

The staff is extremely kind. The restaurant's food is excellent. It definitely doesn't worth the price. Except the view on the lake which is nice, the room is small and not so comfortable. The swimming pool was cold.
