I liked the view from the hotel over Lake Windermere, the staff and their service, the old country house feeling, the way residents are just left to do what they want, the availability of a swimming pool, the walks nearby (even though Cumbria suffered its worst floods in 1,000 years while I was there!), the friendliness of the other residents, it's convenient position at the roadside... Coffee in the restaurant was dire and there was no jam or marmalade at breakfast - though food was generally good. |

The room was comfortable, with a very good views. Breakfast tables also offered views over the lake. The staff were friendly. The dinner menu seemed a bit pretentious, the food was OK though there was a bit too much emphasis on game for me. I was surprised that there was no internet access and the hotel communications system couldn't cope with processing Credit Card and the Fax machine at the same time. |

We were pleasantly surprised by the high standards especially as the accommodation was relatively cheap. Staff were all cheerful and most helpful. We thought that the leisure area could have been much better. |

Beautiful views, good location to ferry and boat trips. I entering from the car park at rear, too many stairs to climb to reach reception with luggage |

The position of the hotel was beautiful. Liked the fact you could walk down to the hotels own private pier. Lovely view from the room. Good breakfast. |

The breakfast had good choice and excellent service, the pool was always quiet and always had plenty of towels available. The bar prices were reasonable and the service was good. We had to walk down 65 steps to get to our room from reception as there was no lift. Not good if you are suffering from any arthritic pains. The dinner menu did not show any prices |

Excellent staff. Terrific views. Good food. Room - lovely soft furnishings - but rest of decor was tired looking and is badly in need of re doing. |

The efficiency and attention of the staff was first class. The attention to detail at the tble and during meals was excellent. The bar and lounge area was restful. However, my wife and I are in our sixties and tall, and found the low couches made standing up difficult. |

Had requested a larger bed on arrival was given a room with a normal double bed.The room had a balcony with really dirty windows and workman busy reparing the balcony next door. Went back to reception and they upgraded us straight away into a lovely room with a patio. The food in the evenng and breakfast was very good. The hotel looks very run down from the outside, which is a shame because it is in a fantastic location. |

Room was very nice, staff excellent and food of a good standard, we were on honeymoon and the hotel knew this, but there was never a reference made to this is, a complimentary drink etc would have been a nice touch our stay was very nice, alhtough there were one or too small things in the room, soap was so tiny you could hardly use it, beds had springs that stuck out of the side scratching your leg, toilet basin was cracked |

Me and my girlfriend came for our 1 year anniversary and we found the stay really relaxing and very enjoyable. The hotel was really good and we had an amazing view of the lake from our bedroom window. The staff were also very helpful and very polite. |
