The friendliness of most of the staff, the decor & comfort of all the communal areas (definitely very good for relaxing!). The ambience of the restaurant & good quality food. The location, & of course the amazing views. Good size bedroom with comfortable bed & sofa. Also facility of the free wi-fi was a plus! I don't really like to complain because it has by no means put us off returning, but there is only one thing I found that let the Hotel down & that is that the bathroom we had looked a bit shabby & could do with updating...don't know if it was just ours or not!

Excellent location with first class view of lake Well trained staff Good food Certain parts of hotel looked a little tired and in need of some decoration Our room 73 was a nice room but could do with sprucing up. Nice pool but could have been enhanced with a jaccuzi.

The view from our room was spectacular!!!!! Our room was clean and comfortable. Sitting on the veranda of an evening with a G and T looking out to the lake and beautiful scenery is a perfect end to each day. Staff very polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Eating in the restaurant was a mouthwatering delight. We will definitely stay here again. Mattress not very comfortable.

Te area the hotel was in I paid an extra £20 for a lakeside view.I Was in rooom 22. From the bedroom window you only had a clear view of the lake if you stood on a chair because a hedgerow was obstructing the view.

Friends asked us to accompany them for a 2 night stay. We had a lovely 'Select' room overlooking Windermere which we understand had only just been refurbished. Plenty of storage and the bed was enormous! Heating was not that good though as radiator around window was shielded by one of those silly radiator covers so hardly any heat came through and we had to request a portable heater. Perhaps also if the floor length curtains ended at above radiator level this would be more prudent! Staff were very pleasant and the bar meals/sandwiches were lovely and fresh. Hotel does need to fit a lift. I have back and knee problems and did not relish the stairs each time to get to our room. I understand the refurbishment is ongoing until all the rooms are brought up to date so perhaps some space could be found for a lift as some rooms are quite high up? We did not like the fact that albeit this was a special price room, payment was taken from our account a month prior to our visit. Is this really necessary coming from a **** hotel?

The hotel has an excellent location, enjoying beautiful views of the lake. It is also only five minutes drive from Bowness, handy for shops and restaurants and boats across the lake. The food was pleasant and the staff were friendly. There is a really grand open fireplace in the reception which is nice to sit beside. Some areas of the hotel are being redecorated which is good but well over due. The rooms! Shabby and run down! Room 78 is a joke. It was like something out of Faulty Towers. Chintzy in decoration, damp smelling, stained and frayed carpets, wonky headboard and the bathroom... pretty poor - a nice brown stained bath complimented with some of the previous guests hair, chipped sink and carpet on the floor in place of tiles. lovely! Naturally we complained and were moved to a better, higher grade room which was nice (apart from cobwebs, damp stains on the walls and more hairs in the bathroom) but was only available for one night. The next night we had to go back to a standard room (although different from No. 78) complete with stained bed cover, coffee spilt down the wall and just left, a rotten bathroom door and cheap tatty furniture. Not 4* at all. The pool is a bit of a let down too, no spa pool, sauna or steam room. The hotel rooms need a deep clean, not just a lick and a promise.

Location and surrounding scenery Pool was too cool, and the addition of a sauna or indoor hot tub would have been nice - particularly on rainy days.

The room (number 5) was very comfortable, and the views were fantastic. The 65 steps from the room to reception. The evening menu was restricted and poor value.

Really surprised with the stunning views and the size of the rooms including whirlpool bath. We found it definitely had the Wow factor although the stairs were quite tiring but didn't spoil our holiday. The pool was lovely and warm with ideal changing facilties. Found the whole experience of staying at Beech Hill really memorable and will definitely book again next time we go to the Lake District. Far cheaper than b & b for the facilities you got!! Certain ends of the hotel were cooler than others but didn't spoil our stay!

Beautifull setting. Food was very good but the returaunt only gives the option of 3 or 5 course evening meal at a fixed price +vat which is very expensive at £32 approx for 3 courses, and they will not reduce the cost if you only require one or two courses. Very unhelpfull and poor value as you feel you are getting ripped off.

Lovely views from bedroom and public rooms. Excellent restaurant Rather unattractive extensions to original building. Rabbit warren feel internally High quality refurbishments and internal design of lounge and restaurant compensate for these minor unavoidable quibbles

“The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. It was clean and had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The swimming pool and changing rooms were very clean and spa-like. We were staying as we were at a wedding nearby and only wished we could of spent more time there. All the staff from reception to bar staff were very friendly and nothing was too much, in fact I cant remember the last time we have experienced good customer service. I will definately be back later in the year for a spa break. ” L, Billingham |
