Friendly staff, excellent food and views to die for
Some of the public areas are showing their age, this wasn't a major point for us and would certainly not put us off visiting again, but they could use some attention
The views The terraces The pool The breakfast
The location of the hotel was surperb! Right on the banks of Windermere. Staff friendly, nice welcoming environment.
There was a strange smell at reception floor level, some of the decor in the hallways looked tacky, in need of a freshen up.
Room was very dirty upon arrival. Thick black hair all over the carpet and handprint marks on the mirror.
Position & quietness. The room had a outdoor balcony to soak up the view of the water.
The heavy footsteps from the floor above late into the night. Two flights of steps from car park to reception. Nothing mentioned for for those with limited mobility. The limited bar menu. The step in the floor which nearly feld my father. The lighting in the rooms was poor, badly switched. The other fittings look like they fall off, TV for one. And the horrible smell in the lower corridors !
Location overlooking the lake especially from our Room 40 was excellent. Location is around 3 miles from facilities, you have to have a car.
Hotel is tired and needs freshening up particular in the bedroom, bathroom and public areas and also from the car park to the reception, carpet is worn out and decoration is tired and needs updating. Restaurant deco and food was good although a little expensive. We complained on our 2nd morning as one of the bath towels had a large piece of glass (almost 1/2 a glass) in it, which horrified me, when it fell out, as I was drying myself from a shower, I could have been cut badly (the two bathroom glasses provided were intact, so where had the glass come from!). We complained to Reception and was advised the Manager had been informed. Its 2 days since we left and still no apology from the Manager who we were promised would contact us! Poor customer service.
Rooms very comfortable Lounge Decor Views
Bathroom was much to hot couldn't turn heating off but was not much of a problem Would like to stay again but would have bar menu as food off dinner menu was not something we would normally go for, we would have preferred much plainer food, people we spoke to also said the same thing
The swimming pool was lovely although the changing room was very cold. The views over the lake from the hotel were great(.super location) .
The dinner menu choice was unsuitable for children and was over priced.we intended to eat at the hotel 1 or 2 evenings but decided to eat elsewhere in Bowness.
Breakfast and room excellent, had pool to myself. Very quiet and lovely real fire in lounge.
Stairs! I have asthma and struggled a bit with the stairs. However, as only 2 nights, I didn't request change of room, which I suspect would have been possible. Incomplete board games - if you are going to have them available, please make sure they are playable. It wouldn't cost much to replace/have a few more, and maybe a few packs of cards.
Good warm atmosphere, views and location.
Lack of wall art on corridors on lower ground to give it a homely atmosphere.
The views and staff are stunning..
The garden delux room did not have as stated 28m2 decking unless you wanted to walk past the other 5 rooms sharing it, more like 2m2.... No light outside so you could not sit out at night. Room clean and large although dated, carpet all ruffled and the bed great size but both of us could not sleep as it was so uncomforable, we originally booked for 4 nights but transferred after 2... No wifi in room and subtitles did not work on any of the TV's as the staff tried. My partner is hard of hearing and I travel with an Apple tv as to assist, but no wifi meant no reception...
Hotel and rooms very tired inside
Late deal, decent rate for a fair room. Lovely view from the terrace over looking the lake. My mrs left her hair straighteners behind and the staff posted them out to us.
Only complaint was the shower screen was too small so the floor was soaking when we showered.
The location and views were superb. Staff friendly and helpful.
Bathroom was a bit tired but overall was spotlessly clean.
first ever visit to the lake district. what a gorgeous place. we had a room with a lake view (room 75), the room was very spacious and comfortable the view was stunning and changing constantly with the changing light. we loved the period features in the reception and bar area, a fantastic place to sit and just take it all in. will most definitely return soon.
didn't like pulling out of the car park on to the busy road but I could live with that. the car park entrance is concealed to fast moving northbound traffic.
Found to many staircases and no lift, also found bath to small unable to use no heating in bedroom had to complain to staff it was found radiators were turned off lighting in bedroom very poor hair drier provided but no were to plug it in there were sockets but we're all behind cupboards no socket near dressing table we did complain to duty manager
We loved being able to step straight out of our room onto the terrace overlooking the lake. Beautiful views, decent pool, good food, helpful staff. A perfect anniversary treat.
Lots of stairs up to reception/restaurant level
Excellent cooked breakfast.
Total lack of Real Ales in bar.
Service, venue, food, drink, facilities, location.
Having to leave.
Staff, location, views and food were all extremely good. Room was clean with lovely view,
Amount of stairs for older couple. Room a little on small side, especially bathroom.
We asked for a full refund as our room (premier plus double) was very tired looking, bedding was limp and worn, the room did not smell fresh at all.The terrace area from our room had moss on it and appeared slippy and dangerous. It certainly was not a 4 star as advertised on your booking site. We were offered a suite, there was a slight improvement, however still not up to the standard of 4 star accommodation. The pillow inside the pillow case had stains on it so that confirmed that we were not having our 3 night stay in the beech hill hotel environment. The manager was most unhelpful and seemed to do a '' disappearing act '' and it was left to the receptionist to deal with our complaint which totalled 1 hour before my request of a full refund was given. It was now 17:00 hours and we now had to go and look for new accommodation for our 3 night stay in the. At this point, we had travelled from Yorkshire, we were tired and distressed from our experience. The Beech Hill Hotel needs a complete refurbish and decoration. I would also like to put in a formal complaint if you would forward the details. Kind regards Jayne
the food was lovely and the breakfast was superb. Staff were very friendly and helpful. gardens and grounds were also very nice just a shame it was raining !!
would have liked a better view, but still could see the lake. needs a lot of TLC, new carpets in hallways etc, just lick of paint here and there, otherwise was ok. Pool could do with a good clean especially round the scum line.
good view, clean, and comfortable
very poor wifi
