Enjoyef a no fuss value for money stay

good breakfast,comfortable beds,carparking,all that you need for a short stay.

Their internet site states that "internet available in all rooms" not true, so don't try and work in your room! Local bars can be noisey (room on the front). Break fast staff very polite, and efficient, although breakfast itself is self service and not quite up to the mark.

I found the hotel very well located. The staff were very friendly. It was also great value for money. A great location, not too far from the city centre. A taxi rank and bus stop right outside the hotel as well. The billabong bar next door was an extra bonus. The atmosphere in there was great! I will definitely be going back for another visit!!

its handy for the city and just far away enough not to be crowded

A great location, walking distance from the reason for our stay, the Biscuit Factory, a great italian restaurant down the road and really pleasant staff. The duty manager was very helpful; very kindly upgraded us when, after stuggling to park, our room was found to be a smoking room (which we didn't realise) and when we asked if there was another that didn't smell of smoke, he was happy to find us one. And, again, the staff rected very promptly when I had to ask them to come and ask drunken and abusive neighbouring guests to desist making a noise at 3.30pm; which unfortunately went on for almost an hour. The next day the duty manager did offer us a free sunday lunch as compensation for our poor night's stay - unfortunately we couldn't stay, the breakfast was really good, so I'm sure lunch would also have been a high point of our visit.

The hotel is busy with parties of people, with very limited parking unfortunately. - That's all!

Room could do with a facelift decor wise

the hotel was clean, friendly and in an excellent location.

I have stayed in other hotels in Osbourne Road and wanted a change. The Caledonian was fine and is on the list of approved hotels for Newcastle University where I teach from time to time. The location is convenient. Spacious bedroom with plenty space to work. Fairly quiet, even with windows open.

It was unseasonably hot weather and even with the heating turned off and the two opening windows fully open, the room remained too hot all week. The wireless internet reception in the room was poor and I had to constantly use the public lobby to download emails, which was inconvenient. The food choice in the restaurant was unexciting and the bar was very noisy, so we genrally ate elsewhere.

Very small lift. Could only fit my partner and the pram in. Had to take the bags upstairs to the furthest end of the hotel. While the lift was in use. Limited ramp access

Modern feel, clean, good sized rooms. Good service at check in.

Beds very hard! Limited parking and we found our car had been damaged when we left, presumably by the adjacent car.
