Restaurant and bat area were comfortable and welcoming.
Rooms basic and dated with very thin walls! Pool is not a pool as advertised;(
The atmosphere was relaxing and friendly. The bar area was a lovely place to have a drink and chill. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere too.
Unfortunately I am a swimmer and the pool was more a dipping pool - I did 6 strokes and was at the other side. It was quite a trip along cold corridors so very disappointing.
Gym staff seemed a bit disinterested. Nothing to do with the hotel though.
Pleasant Staff and comfortable
Toilet facilities cramped and a drain smell
Staff impeccably polite and efficient. Quirky and quaint layout.
Convenient locstion, friendly staff, quaint room in cottage. I
Nothing to explain
Lovely room, great staff.
Breakfast a bit disappointing
Bedroom and bar area
The parking and the fact I had to pay. And the breakfast was not as good as the last time I visited the hotel
I liked the collection of elegant old buildings, such a lovely change after faceless hotel chains. My room was very quiet, looking onto a courtyard which must be lovely when the weather is clement and it is not pouring with rain. Had dinner in the restaurant which is located in the modern addition. Very pleasant building with a strong timber frame. It was like being in a barn but with lot of light pouring in. The food was good and the service very pleasant. I'll be back in summer!
Location,staff, bar area.
Room carpet tired it was rucked in places.Bathroom was very dated and mould was present on bath. one night the sockets triped twice but was dealt with quickly.overall expensive for what you got especially as breakfast was extra.
The hotel was very central, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent.
A fairly tight car park with a steep entrance drive. This was to be expected in a busy and popular city. Got parked easy enough though.
Loved the history attached to the hotel. Friendly helpfull staff really make such a difference and the desserts are WOW! Rhubarb cheesecake to die for
everything is so good! Nice garden, nice staff and of course nice room!
Warm and welcoming hotel, nice bar area.
Chose this hotel on the basis that it had a swimming pool, however the pool was the size of a postage stamp!
Location. Very helpful staff. Availability of parking at reasonable cost. Overall ambience.
The staff were polite, cheerful and helpful.
Several things in our room were broken, the telephone was not connected and couldn't be as it was broken. Pillows were uncomfortable, kettle didn't have enough flex to be plugged in unless on a bedside table. Mould in bathroom.
The hotel was amazing, inside and out. The room was impressive and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will stay again!
Helpful staff, good food, fantastic location
2 single beds pushed together, small pool, charge for car park, £20 charge was too much for an extra hour to check out, quite expensive stay.
No wifi in room
Rooms were of a very high standard. Very clean and lovely furnishings. Ideal location for city centre.
We did bring swimming costumes but pool was incredibly small with really no room so we were disappointed not to be able to swim.
Relatively quiet location, located close to the river Ouse and centre of York. Staff were helpful and pleasant in all areas. Bedroom, triple family was spacious with adjoining bathroom including both bath and shower. The room was clean and well stocked with tea and coffee/chocolate/biscuits, and the TV had a good signal and usual channels but no Sky.
Some work was being carried out nearby, so some noise. Gym and pool facilities disappointing. Room and beds for price not as good as Premier Inn. No breakfast included in cost also. Attractions in York over priced and unreliable, booked a tour which failed to show, but did get refund and appology +, however as only there for short stay it ruined the trip. Won't be rushing back anytime soon.
We liked the lovely separate building for our room and the pool was a nice touch.
The hotel itself is quite nice and parking was a bonus near the centre. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Room quality was poor, fittings and fixtures were very poor quality looked a bit DIY, the beds were poor, the mattresses dipped in the middle and bases were lightweight. Despite paying top rate for room (£240.00 for 2 nights) they charged us another £34.00 for our breakfasts. and the hotel restaurant prices were very high. Can't help but feel a bit ripped off.
