myself and my husband enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, cleanliness and location of the hotel. also the hotel grounds were very pretty. |

The standard of the accomodation was very good, it was very easy to find and was a stones throw away from York City centre but was far enough away to be in a quiet location. The food was of a good quality and service was also very good. I was in room 35 and although clean and comfortable, the small amount of passing traffic was very noisey at night time due to the lack of double glazed windows. The windows were also very draughty and rattled in the wind, this made sleeping a bit difficult. |

close to city centre, comfortable, food was excellent, also the hotel did a one night stay on a weekend which was what we wanted |

Friendly staff, interesting building, good location,has nice areas to relax in and a good gym. Although the room had all that we required it needed updating to a modern standard. |

Friendly and helpful staff in an independent hotel (not part of a soulless chain) wit character. Central location and yet quiet. I was impressed by the gym and swimming and sauna facilities--wished I'd known about them in advance and brought some gear! No, though perhaps the bathrooms and decor could be upgraded. |

The atmosphere was very good. The room was very good and quiet. The breakfest service was perfect. It was very friendly stay - like in family. |

breakfast was excellent I felt that the room (Room 2) was very dated and felt slightly 'fusty' and not used very often. However the bed was clean and comfortable |

The central location is ideal for exploring the city, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the whole building has character unlike many hotel chains. |

Breakfast was included with the room rate. Guest parking. Free access to gym and facilities. The staff in general were lack luster and quite miserable it seemed. The decor is old and dated. The car park is not adequately sized. |

A haven of greenery a few minutes walk from the town centre. Poor quality beer in the bar, so not inclined to spend the evening in. Fotrunately there are excellent pubs in the town. |

Very good central location, very good friendly service and good value for money, comfortable and clean bedroom and a nice ambience and would definitely stay there again The quality of the breakfast could be improved, e.g. fresh fruit rather than tinned fruit, granary or other type bread rather than plain and the main course hot rather than luke warm. |

In particular I liked the friendly relaxed ambience of the hotel. The staff are always willing to help. The food and waiter/waitress service were friendly and professional. I will be staying at the hotel again. |

the staff throughout the hotel are pleasant. the hotel is in a good location,clean comfortable and good value for money. the only thing is if you stay in the main hotel and you are on the second floor there is no lift but it doesnt affect not wanting to stay again |

I visited York - Check in not possible before 14:00 (we arrive at 9:30), the staff forgot the last day to wake me up at 6:30 as discussed the day before (very bad to reach the train to London, when we have reserved places), staff unfriendly all the time |

The staff were very polite and helpful. The food was great and I would return again to stay at this hotel. I would like to have had a small fridge in the room and I was dissapointed to have been charged for a glass of water when I asked for a glass of tap water when buying my third round of drinks from the bar. I thought that if you sold alcohol on your premises, you were obliged by law to give out water for free. |
