Staff were very helpful and pleasant. The evening meal was delicious and excellent value for money. The staff all seemed to have an excellent sense of humour.
The car park is smaller than it was before.
Staff excellent Breakfast everything you could want
Rooms a little dated. Carpets threadbare.
Hotel reception and exterior is quite impressive. Location is excellent.
Car parking was appalling and expensive. Rooms rather tatty and facilities basic.
This hotel intially looks grand from the outside and is well positioned, not far from the Station and close to the centre of town. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was good value.
The customer service we received from the staff was at best disinterested and at worst surly and rude. Our shower was held together by a rubber band. General standards of cleanliness were only adequate.
Room was decent as was breakfast.
Staff training could do with a little extra (not quite 4 star standard...) However all in all ok and a pleasant stay.
Handy for town centre, and helpful staff. Good choice of food at breakfast.
It was billed as having car parking but this had been halved by building work and I had to park over the road & retrieve it before 8.30 in the morning to avoid paying 50p for 15 minutes. The whole place looked a bit 'tired' - missing button in the lift, carpet held together with tape, missing catch on rotten window frame. My room was on 3rd floor but lift only went to 2nd& no offer of help.
Very welcoming receptionist, and helpful staff.
Hotel was a bit shabbier than on my last stay, some years ago. Car parking impossible, as more than half space taken up by building contractors' huts.
Breakfast well up to standard
Car park is under repair and far too small.
The location of the hotel. The food.and the service at all hours.
Very inadequate parking space. This was a serious problem. My wife and I have limited mobility; it is not helpful to be asked to use the Central Car Park half a mile away.
polite staff, convenient position, parking available
Sash window held open by chunk of wood - one sash weight broken meaning window was eithe shut or jammed open.
the location is good, and the staff try, but for £140 per night it's poor value for money.
The room was shabby, the shower didn't work, the pump on the loo kept us awake. The lift only goes to the second floor - not easy when you are lugging a lot of luggage and your room is on the third. Breakfast was the bare minim.
Dirty toilet, peeling wallpaper, missing light bulbs, television wouldn't tune in properly, threadbare carpet
Great location very near to the City centre & was reasonably price.
Could do with a refurbishment
I stayed here before is a double room on the 2nd floor and the room was quite reasonable but this time I had a thord floor single room. The carpet was filthy, the curtains dirty and torn, the TV didn't work properly.
The location was ideal for what I wanted.
The extra charge of £8.00 per night to park in their car park and breakfast was also another extra charge.
Location and parking
The hotel is worn out. The windows did not fit and with single glazing on to a busy road the room was noisy. The shower did not work as there was a leak. In places there were no carpets and those that there were there were very worn.It was just so run down. It needs a makeover.
Its poor state and geneal dilapidation. Th bathrooms were so out of date and poorly furnished that it could not be considered an elegant hotel
breakfast was OK bed was clean position ideal for town centre on foot car parking cheap wi fi easily accessible and worked
TV didn't work Shower dripped Carpets worn through sliding door on wardrobe not fixed properly Decor old fashioned Fabric on divan base torn Sleep difficult because lack of air with window open traffic too noisy. Lighting in room very poor had to remove shade to read
really friendly lady at reception quiet room breakfast (booked separate) nice traditional english hotel
to warm in the room quite expensive for the size of room
The hotel address is Trumpington Street. The car park is on Fen Causeway not on Trumpington Street. A telephone call to the hotel enquiring about how to find the car park did not help much. It would be helpfull if the staff at reception knew where the car park is.
Amazing breakfast! Beds were comfortable and everything worked and was clean.
The tiny room. Staff were quite abrupt with me about an early check-in but actually sorted it out for me in the end.
The location of the hotel is excellent in the city centre
What a disappointment, we have stayed in better budget hotels. On arrival the receptionist was as cold as ice and seemed more interested in the car park charge. The bedroom was very dated and tired and not particularly clean (although the bedding was) wall paper hanging off, TV remote not working, belongings from a previous guest in the wardrobe and so on. The en suite smelt damp with shower out of the ark and mouldy ceiling, the complete suite needs replacing, all stained through age. The whole place needs refurbishing and does not represent value for money. Would we recommend or stay again? No.
Friendly staff, breakfast was good, room good
The noise of disruptive wedding guests on our floor. Not the Hotel's fault though
Location and ambience
Bedroom decor needed a refresh
