Convenience of location. Room was tired-looking and tatty. The carpet was worn, the wall paper was stained. The food was mediocre.

Breakfast was quite good, the service was decent and the location was excellent. Rooms were mostly good, beds very comfortable and the internet was fast. The hotel doesn't seem to have seen any kind of comprehensive refurbishment programme since the 1970s. Old wine glasses sitting in corridors on dated carpets with post-modernist designs which we graduated from a couple of decades ago. Window frames were filthy with mould and the sash cords were bust. This hotel could be really great with some investment.

The receptionist a Portugese young lady was exceptional she was efficient, friendly, helpful, a great asset to your hotel. The linen was spotless, the room was clean but see opposite. The room was tired, needs a complete refurbishment. Bed base was stained with coffee(?) and also torn, the upholstery on the chairs was unravelling, grouting round the bath was mouldy, toilet pan stained, curtains limp and faded etc etc. I would stay again if room was brought upto standard.

Location is good - between the station and town centre. Cambriedge is ridiculously over priced and this hotel is feeding the problem. £126 for double on room only basis. Standard/small double bed. Yellowed lino on bathroom floor. On returning to hotel around 11pm, the main mens toilets were covered in vomit in one area, and then various towels around which had been used in vain attempt to clean it up - looked (and smelt) like someone had been murdered there. We told the night porter and he told us that they had a bunch of rugby types in earlier - and it would stay like that til the morning

Location, staff, car parking, public areas, external appearance; on the whole, a good choice. Although I asked for a room on an upper floor, I didn't expect the very top! This entailed a lot of stair climbing and a poor outlook with small and high windows.

LOcation Extremely poor restaurant menu - very, very limited choice of meals. No option to have anything other than what was offered. Food that was provided was poor. Insecure rooms - old mechanical Yale keys to guest rooms - not good enough for hotel security today. Tired hotel in need of redecoration and updating - is stuck in the 1970's.

Extra charge for car park, filthy room in need of updating, curtains water stained & torn, bed base badly stained, rattling windows, the mattress has come to the end of it's life and needed replacing, the lift was out of order - problematic as I have an injured ankle, the lazy way the bed was made, not bothering to tuck the sheet in at the top - there is nothing good to say about this place!

Excellent location, within walking distance of town centre, restaurants, museums, universities and botanical gardens. Good car park. Breakfast good. Bedroom comfortable with large bathroom. Decor a little faded. Lift not working and no offer of help with luggage to higher floors.

The reception staff were efficient and friendly and the location is central. Good Wi Fi access. My room desperately needed refurbishing. The curtains were literally disintegrating and there were coffee stains all over the divan. The toilet had been cleaned but the bowl was full of stains. I could hear other guests above and to the side of my room.

The proximity of the hotel to the city centre was super. Bed was comfortable and continental breakfast was ok, if a little over priced. The room was very 'tired' needed updating and the original sash windows meant there was a strong draft blowing through that we had to plug with magazines.

Relatively cheap. Nice and warm. Comfortable enough. Value for money ok based on location/price/functionality. Room service advertised but not available. Ditto bar snacks. Room phone didn't work. Sash to window broken so had to prop it open. Hairs on bathroom floor. Rotten window frame. Radiator needed bleeding so sounded like Niagara. Long overdue for a hotel-wide refurb. Bar and restaurant both empty and sad. Barman non-existent. No soap in bathroom.

Location good, price good, check out/paying for car parking etc. fast. Carpets a bit grubby but not too bad. Reception somewhat brusque in telling me I couldn't check in early. No offer of a luggage room made, I had to ask. Complaints minor however.

Price, Car Park, Location, Friendly Staff, any issue was "fixed" straight away. Clean, Aroma free, - no smelly air freshners Good quality fittings Place was generally in good condition but everything was rather "tired" Past glory, but still clean and functionable. i.e. T V remote had cover missing and selotape held the batteries in! Lino in Bathroom had a small tear in it. Door delay on lift was ridiculously long

staff helpful. dinner was good value for money and beautifully cooked, simple but well judged. note to comment in the 'don't like column' the bar staff went out of their way to 'rustle up' a sandwich for us no catering staff on saturday lunchtime, waited for sandwiches and selection was poor.
