Royal Cambridge Hotel  

Nothing except the location was good.

Hotel is shabby and run-down, lift out of order, uncomfortable beds, grubby and stained carpets and décor, unappealing breakfast, stale. Understand that there are now new owners who are about to refurbish suggest checking this has been done before booking

I stayed at the hotel to be near my husband who was having surgery in the nearby Nuffield HospitaL. So for me being able to walk to the hospital was why I stayed there

Most of the staff understood english perfectly but not all. At breakfast I had to move my table twice because of a couple having a business breakfast in loud voices and I needed to be quiet due to above. The radiator leaked all over the bathroom floor. When I asked for hot milk I was served cold milk. Money was taken from my account on arr by mistake £250. when I asked if the maintenance cd attend my room after I had left for hospital for the day, he came before I had gone,. There didn't seem complete awareness of one's needs.

The restaurant was appalling, the service was low class with poor communication, the waiter misunderstood our order but still charged us for his misunderstanding. Food was good but not excellent, but OK for cost. The TV service was disgraceful, the TV signel rarely worked despite someone coming to "fix" it, and change of TV set, was advised on our 3rd night that this was well known that the TV sets were old and not working reliably and there was nothing they could do ... did not offer any discount off what we paid and we did not get to utilise the room features for what we paid for due to the lack of ability to watch TV. Breakfast fruit salad was not all fresh with appearance like it was tinned fruit. The staff were not that friendly, were short when speaking to us, only a couple of helpful / friendly staff. No facility to do laundry and no laundrette nearby and was advised to pay for the hotel laundry service which was excessive for personal laundry that all we wanted to do was utilise a laundrette

The location was good, 10 minutes walk to the centre and not too far from the railway station (20 minutes walk). The hotel hall was nice and the bar was opened to hosts 24/7 (but we didn't use it).

The room was not very clean, especially the toilet, which was also old. It took a long time and many trials to make the toilet flush work. One of the nightlamp didn't work, the other was broken. The bed was noisy and too soft.

Central location.

Disinterested staff. Rooms in dire need of refurbishment. Breakfast very disappointing.

Reasonable continental breakfast. Very spacey apartment. Luxury towels. Parking for cars and bikes.

Ventilation. Air-conditioning seemed to only to recirculate air. Fan in bathroom did not work and was not fixed (admittedly a Sunday) Surrounded by main roads so noisy. We asked for a quiet room and this was the best they could provide.

Noisy, shabby and no hot water for a shower in the morning. Not worth the money.

Location, exterior of building

Perfectly satisfactory. But could be great..needs redocorating..more traditional though..afternoon tea...why do you think people come to Cambridge?

Location and old style hotel

Convenient location. Availability of parking.

Friendly and efficient staff able to answer my queries.Perfectly situated for the Fitzwilliam Museum

I don't have any dislikes but I think perhaps the decor in my room was a little faded

Great location. Comfortable traditional hotel.

Room wifi was not free, neither was parking.

Stylish, comfortable, helpful staff.

Could not vary heating.
