눉If I had only looked at previous reviews before booking 2 nights in this out-of-the-way B&B, I could have spared my partner and me a memory that we - for many years to come - will have come back to haunt us! Early after our arrival, we had asked the host if there was a lounge in which could be found a communal television, but he claimed that there was nary a one in the house, as they did not need one; I wonder, then, what was creating the sound and flickering light from their lounge when I popped my head around the door to ask for a couple of glasses - and why there was a need for an aerial on the chimney and a Sky dish??!
The 2-day visit did not start off all that momentously, I'm afraid, as our host chose not to introduce himself (or his wife, later) on our arrival; he did, though, let us know that the dog's name was 'Belle' and she did have free rein of the property so might very well have been the one in charge and pulling the strings.
To be honest, nowhere on Booking.com could I find any mention of a television, so clearly shouldn't have expected one, should I? I mean, what did I want for £80 per room per night? What I really would have liked would have been some sound insulation between the adjoining rooms (both above and on the same level) and ours, as the sounds of activity, plumbing and sleeping/snoring seemed to be amplified on their way to our ears. This was highlighted with a great vengeance at around 9:15 on the morning of our departure, as the guests in the room directly above ours decided to spend some time trying out the springs of their bed in a form of ancient rite that almost had us in fits of laughter at the sheer audacity of the couple!! Oh, how we giggled as we drove away!
I have seen some comments that suggest that the location was sublime and the house and hosts excellent; only the former, I'm afraid, is true but the hosts had no control over the location and scenery, which is nature's to bestow.
