We were disappointed that we were unable to eat in the restaurant. There was a party on the Saturday evening which meant they were not serving food - it would have been nice to have been informed of this when we booked!
Great breakfast, friendly staff and fabulous views

Staff were incredibly friendly. The food (breakfast and dinner) were fantastic. Could not have asked for a better place to stay while walking in the Peak District. We were greeted by the friendly owners in the evening after walking all day to offer complimentary tea and coffee while we talked with them and other visitors.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the food and service were excellent, the rooms had everything that you could need and were spotlessly clean, we will definitely return.

This is my 3 or 4 th visit and standards as high as ever. Enjoyed a beautiful evening meal and some impromptu serenading from another party.

Would be better to have GPS coordinates as post code didn't take me directly to the door and in the dark on those country lanes can be quite stressful.
Iv stayed in a very high number of hotels across Europe and the uk and the windy harbour is right up. The food was great and the breakfast too.

staff were so friendly and helpful, and the cooked breakfast was delicious (and very generous!). We also found a great pub in Old Glossop for an excellent dinner, which was only a 10 min drive away.

Had a twin room , it was very cramped but fine for one night. Having dog meant we couldn't go in certain areas eg comfy lounge.
Lovely location, good for walking as well as near city. Exceptional staff very helpful and professional. Very clean and comfortable . Good wi fi . Tea and coffee in room good standard. Breakfast and evening meal good

Although this is the ideal hotel in the ideal place for a great walking/country scenic break, it's also just fine for a business visitor. Breakfast & warm hospitality aside, the Wifi knocks the socks of the chains' measly efforts. Would definitely return!

Stairs are very steep as it's an old farmhouse so could be a problem for those with less mobility although the management will carry your bags up for you so don't let this put you off too much
The couple who run this hotel are very friendly & nothing is too much trouble for them. The day we arrived it snowed & we phoned to cancel & then we managed to get there- we were made very welcome even though due to the snow we were the only guests. Lovely views over the countryside (especially with the snow)

Small double bedroom with small toilet. No bedside table on one side. Steep staircase but staff prepared to carry items upstairs. Our daughter had a much better room and she was a single guest.
Great staff (Lee) great service, food very good, good choice on menu. Nice bar area. great views, good parking. easy to find on dark. Nice lounge with fire. Very cosy.

Everything - what else is there to say

The location originally drew my attention, the welcome was very professional yet welcoming. Hosts, food and service where all far more than you'd expect from a place priced as it is. Will be returning very soon.

Heating was off from 2300 to 0600 so room got a little chilly on a December night, though good quality double glazing meant it didn't get too bad.
Immaculate room. Excellent food and real ale Fast and strong wifi Excellent staff

Attentive and friendly staff. Perfectly cooked breakfast. Dinner also delicious, I had steak and it melted in my mouth...Proper chips too. Nice room and shower, all spotless and tidied every morning. Will stay again when in area.

They need better extractor fans in the kitchen as you can smell old food as y enter the building. The dining room and bar do not smell.
The staff and food were very good.
