friendly staff - friendly locals large meals - quiet rural location
no mobile phone signal - there was Wi-Fi
Food and bed were good. Staff very welcoming.
Unfortunately the weather was awful.Room a little shabby and could do with a paint.
Tiny twin bedroom - no room for anything and terrible bathroom tub with archaic hand held shower with fixture broken from taps. It just lay in the bath tub A lot of money for such inconvenience compared to other places we stayed
Great atmosphere, very friendly hosts.
The Boot and Shoe exceeded expectations in all aspects. There was a good atmosphere in the bar, the ales were tasty and the bar staff were very pleasant. We ate in the pub in the evening and the food was excellent, especially the steak and ale pie! The room we had was ideal and larger than expected. An electric radiator supplemented the central heating. The location of the pub is in a very pretty hamlet and the journey time to Keswick is around 15 minutes. I'm sure if you stay there you will enjoy it.
In general terms, I am disappointed in the high costs of food and drink throughout the Lake District.
Warm welcome. Secure storage for our bikes. Excellent food.
Our room was over the bar so noisy until quite late.
Staff ,location ,great breakfast.
Limited real ales.
My friends and I were completing the c2c bike route so the food and comfortable beds were very welcome. Very friendly staff also made our stay enjoyable.
every thing else
bathroom a little tired
good accommodation for two couples, plus two dogs well catered for. excellent food.
car parking was acceptable but limited. overflow was at remote area leaving security doubtful.
Friendly staff, good food and convenient location
Location, friendly staff, home cooked food
Location, room, facilities food and general warm welcome
Excellent food and beer/wine at reasonable prices. Comfortable bedrooms with decent facilities, which can't have been too easy to fit into a nice old pub like this. Good and interesting Tarzan memorabilia photographs due to the location in Greystoke. Very entertaining landlord and good staff.
Taken for what it is - a nice old inn rather than a posh hotel - nothing at all!
Staff, location, rooms, breakfast, village etc....
Staff very helpful and friendly
VERY WARM WELCOME FROM LANDLORD GOOD FOOD FROM VARIED MENU GOOD FRESHLY COOKED BREAKFAST
Very good hosts. The breakfasts were plentiful, freshly cooked with plenty of choice. We had our evening meals at the Inn and were just as pleased. Our room was comfortable. Good selection of ale and inn was open all day.
Nothing to report.
Lively village pub with great staff and very good food. We had not booked an evening meal but were found a table both nights even though the place was fully booked. There was a group playing on Sunday afternoon which was excellent and added to the atmosphere of the place.
Prior to arriving we received a call to see if we wanted dinner. We felt welcome already. The staff were lovely and our room was great next to a fire exit which was great with the dog. The beer garden had so many things, swingball table tennis and connect 4 to name a few.. Food was exquisite and reasonably priced, the puddings were absolutely beautiful. Everything was clean and the gardens were stocked with beautiful baskets and tubs. Someone cares a lot about their business and it shows everywhere you look.
A few miles to travel for a few bits and bobs if you forget and the post office/convenience store is shut, just need to take what you need with you.
Excellent staff arrived very late and they bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and make some food
Lovely staff, good atmosphere in pub, tasty breakfast and comfy twin room
Shower was over the bath with a sloped ceiling so not easy to have a shower, more a bath with a shower head. Some noise from the pub downstairs, although this didn't go on late and was very quiet once closed.
Food. Friendliness. Genuine village pub with a good following of locals. A pub very much alive.
Room fairly tired.
Staff and owners very willing to help however they could.
Mealtime service was slow on occasions.
Lovely location very good food
Nothing to dislike
